- Toshihiko Horiyama has some distinct style. MMX4 tend to have a low bass so a lower octave bass fits it better although I think the intro is quite lackluster. I like to keep the end with an abrupt cut with the reverbs since MMX4 OST tend to end like that.

I agree! Horiyama is a pure genius at composing video game music.
Sounds like Colonel and General's battle mixed with the military train stage, as well as the spaceport.
It's crazy how this really feels like it came from the X4 soundtrack. Most covers that try to mimic a specific game's style just limit themselves to swapping the instruments, but this gives off real X4 vibes. It feels like X4.

Now that soundfont remake of the Mega Man and Bass/Rockman & Forte boss theme is pure gold! The epic and dramatic synths perfectly replicate the nostalgic charm of late 90s sci-fi video games of Japanese background!
While not perfect, this is easily the best X4-style I've ever seen, and I absolutely love the attention to detail!

Description: Major is Colonel’s second-in-command and leader of Repliforce’s mercenary unit. When fighting as X, Major uses his merc buster that fires charged shots; while fighting as Zero, he uses his scythe to slice his opponent as well as performing a wide shot by throwing his scythe directly. In each playthrough, he uses special weapons based on all eight mavericks. His bunshin attack allows Major to create invincible clones of himself to ambush X/Zero, and he can summon tornadoes on the boss area and himself. Major sees the maverick hunters as less superior compared to the military might of Repliforce. But when Repliforce declared for independence, he heeded the Colonel's orders in leading the mercenary unit against the hunters.

Major: Ha! You won’t be so lucky once I scatter your parts across the jungle.

Major: We won’t be staying here longer. But the Reploid Special Forces will take care of you.

Major: Pursuing Jet Stingray in your land chaser would be a grave mistake for you. Especially after you’ve dispatched my men.
X: Major. Were you also behind the attack on the city?!
Major: Hmph! We’re just following orders like hired mercenaries we are. We’re in it for our payment. But destroying you would be a bigger pay for my men.

Zero: Out of my way, Major! That maverick has nowhere else to go but to face justice!
Major: Not a chance, hunter. You’ll have to go through me first!
(Major defeated)
Major: You may have cornered Jet Stingray, but he has alternatives to getting you off his tail. Go on. He will sink your carcass deep into the sea.

Major: Now why would you be attacking this train, hmm?
X: It doesn’t matter. All it matters is stopping this train and preventing Repliforce from transferring weapons.
Major: And you intended to do just that? Either you’re foolish or just blinded by your superiors.

Major: By orders from the Colonel of Repliforce, you must cease attacking our army!
Zero: I’m also here by orders of the Maverick Hunters. You must end this coup and resolve this conflict peacefully!
Major: Peacefully?! That would be considered a sign of weakness. We shall resolve this…through force!
(Major defeated)
Major: Cutting off supply to our troops will be your biggest flaw. I’m sure Beastleo will see to that.

Major: Ah, so you’ve found a way to get to the snow base by bunker?
X: Surprised that the bunker is not concealed enough?
Major: Hehe. If the weather can’t freeze you, then the cold temperature in this room will. So get comfortable while you freeze to retirement.

Zero: Looks like a nice shortcut to the base.
Major: And now that you’ve found it, you’re not going through without facing me. Get ready!

Major: A hulking beast stands in your way, hunter. He will make sure you don’t reach the weapon this time.

Major: Regardless, we have claimed the skies and we will intercept any trespassers who enter. Hunters, mavericks, or anyone!

Major: Intruding our airspace is a sure fire way to get yourself destroyed, hunter.
Zero: So as occupying the skies illegally, Major. Unless you called off the coup and have the fleet fly back to base.
Major: Only the commanding officer of the Reploid Air Wing has the entire air operation, and I’m under orders from him to blast you out from the sky.
(Major defeated)
Major: Be forewarned, hunter. You’ll be blown away by the owl’s cyclone, lest his piercing eyes catch you.

Zero: Recruiting me to Repliforce? I’d doubt that decision. Not under this conflict.
Major: Shameful. Colonel would have made you one of his best officers. Not to mention a chance to be with Iris, as my spies told me.

Major: This cyberspace is beyond saving due to data corruption. I suggest you teleport back before the whole entire corrupted system deletes you.

Major: Zero. What’s a hunter like you to be wandering in this infernal chaos?
Zero: Where is Dragoon? He needs to pay for what he did!
Major: Dragoon is a mercenary. He serves Repliforce with honor, and I won’t allow you to face him.
Zero: Defending him is considered maverick and it would be a disservice to Colonel and Repliforce.
Major: I’d say the same thing to you and the hunters for foolishly accusing us as one. Get ready!

Major: You should have joined Repliforce when you’ve got the chance, hunter. There are former hunters like Dragoon who joined our ranks.

Major: We are sending a clear message that Repliforce should not be interfered with from declaring independence. Also, I am under orders from the Colonel to retrieve his sister Iris. Where is she?
Zero: She stays here until we can work this out between us so we can end this coup d’etat once and for all.
Major: No! The Colonel demands that she returns safely under no conditions! I’ll ask you again. Where…is…Iris?
Zero: If that’s your decision, then consider yourself a maverick!

X: Everyone on both sides are at stake. Don’t you think this mindless infighting is unnecessary? Well, do you?!
Major: We all have debts to pay and lives worth sacrificing. But it’s all for the best interests of Repliforce. We won’t stop until we achieve total victory.

Zero: It’s over, Major. Tell Colonel that Repliforce will have no choice but to negotiate for peace.
Major: Never! The Colonel demands that we fight vehemently with courage and pride, without fear or hesitation. That is what we strived for.

Major: You’re right, hunter. We are just hired men, paid to do their work. But as for you, I’ll make it an exception…to destroy you as tribute to Colonel.

Major: As his second-in-command, I would never question him nor override his orders. Secondly while we were sent as a distraction to your fellow hunters, Colonel is planning an exodus from Earth.
Zero: What?! Where is he?
Major: He’s assembling the remaining Repliforce members to the Spaceport. There he will lead them all to space…where a new utopia is being constructed.
Zero: Colonel…!
Major: I’m sure Iris would follow suit with his brother…to the place where only reploids exist. But I will remain here…knowing that I served Colonel with honor. Farewell!

I love how this feels like it came from X4 but also sounds like it could suit a 5th-gen CD version of _Mega Man & Bass._
That's why you collected so many CDs in that game!
In retrospect it's actually crazy they never released that for the Playstation and Saturn.

From what we have registered it's all JV-1080, but most of its leads are yet to be found.
I don't know what you used here but you made an accurate-enough recreation for me to say it is indeed X4-Style.

You mentioned that the intro sounded lacklustre. If I may make a suggestion for that, I'd try out the keyboard 'stab' sounds used in Slash Beast's stage theme for the more rapid keyboard notes in the intro.

Rockman & Forte if it was released on PlayStation and Sega Saturn in 1998 and Dreamcast in 1999....
I think it would more likely to be the MM8 soundfont used since MM&B was intentionally made to be a poor man's MM8 on SNES
