Fang felt waaaaay more important in this game than he did in the original from what I remember when I played and there was a lot of cool new things, but yeah it's very reminiscent of triple trouble, which is fantastic.
What i also love about this fangame, aside that it adds a LOT compared to the og game, is that it answers/fixes some lore issues with the og game, such as why Knuckles is bad when in previous games he was good and etc.
lol actually this game is great really great but it actually added a lore issue how can eggman knock sonic out of his super form with just a robot when in unleashed, sonic literally went through him easily

@@decas5505 he didn't he actually used the master emerald to control the chaos emeralds because if he is able to knock sonic out of his super form then he would've never had any trouble with any enemy he faced remember when chaos came back to angel island and knocked him and eggman out? and and knuckles wasn't able to stop him which means that he doesn't scale to super sonic

its not 1-1. the main 2D levels share some similar setpieces but the special stages, bonus stages, and boss battles were completely redone, also those cool setpieces like hanging off the ship or the snowboarding are completely new

14:30 Triple Trouble 16-bit is very much the AM2R of sonic fangames: it remains faithful to the original game in terms of premise gimmicks and general level design but adds so much new stuff that’s original or from future games that it’s basically its own beast.
The reason it was anti-climatic was cause you didn’t get all the emeralds

I'd recommend SRB2, the game is massively polished and it feels like a good evolution of classic sonic into 3d, with a lot of focus on platforming, exploration and collectables for extra content.
That game is what really solidified my frustration with boost formula sonic. It just feels so damn *right*, I really love srb2

Also, Fang's whole "deal" is explained in the tie-in comic that the dev created(?)

I like the accuracy that eggman slams you out of super and not hyper; because hyper forms are immune to those attacks; while super can still get hurt by them.
Which is why I love Big Arms as a final boss. It doesn't care if you're super, it'll still hurt you.
It's called triple trouble because of the 3 main antagonists. There's Eggman, "Knuckles", and Fang the Sniper/Nack the Weasel, depending on where you lived.

The reason the ending was anti-climactic is that you didn't get all the emeralds, think of the ending to Sonic 3 and how that changes.
Next I would really recommend playing "Sonic Before the Sequel" and "Sonic After the Sequel DX", which take place respectively before and after Sonic 2, in-between the classic trilogy.
They are considered the classics in terms of Sonic fangames, and set the standard for future 2D Sonic fangames, including "Sonic and The Fallen Star", the other recent Sonic fangame which's footage was used in this video, and which I would also recommend.
Optionally, the same dev made another fangame called "Sonic Chrono Adventure", which is a very different but cool take on 2D Classic Sonic (same gameplay, different structure, closer to a metroidvania).
Then of course everyone will recommend "Sonic Robo Blast 2", an incredibly unique and fun 3D Sonic fangame which draws a lot of inspiration from the 2D games and uses a variant of the Doom Engine of all things (I would also suggest its Spinoff mod: "Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart")
Not Sonic fangames per-say but I would recommend the "Spark the Electric Jester" trilogy of games, made by Lake Feperd, who developed Sonic Before and After the Sequel (Hence I think it would be fitting to check out his original work after you've played his earlier fangame works). They're incredibly fun games.
I think all of these games deserve playing and are under-represented on UA-cam. I would give a lot to finally see someone like you, with some notoriety, shining a light on them and giving your first impressions.

Both endings are literally the same, it's even possible to beat the normal final boss with super sonic. Doomsday is just filler that makes little sense.

@@Kiwi-fl8te Doesn't really change that Eggman already dropped the Emerald seconds before and the end result is the same as if it didn't happen. It's a good fight, but it's like how the story of 06 cheats to make the final boss happens, there should be a better justification for events to happen.
Heey, if you beat all the Special Stages and get all the Chaos Emeralds (6 on the Special Stages and one at the end for beating Eggman) you get the true final boss fight, I'm not going to spoil it but just know it's really good

I love this fangame, it feels like a actual classic sonic game and gave me lots of nostalgia for the classic sonic games. The quality of this game is amazing, hope you do another part on this to get all the emeralds and get the true final boss andending

talking about how noah copeland gave 5 years of his life there is a fan game called sonic robo blast 2 which has been actively worked on since 1998

This isn't a 1-1 adaptation. Story is changed a little, with the side villains getting far more screentime and story relevance than in the 8-bit GG version. Includes 1 new stage and a secret stage too, IIRC. Many themes from the original get expanded upon, in rather creative ways. The level transitions are done way better here for example. Another great adaptation is the boss of Meta Junglira is a snake, and its expanded so the whole 2nd act is a snake temple, complete with traps and Indiana Jones style escape. Others like the jet boots for both Sonic and Tails (GG had it for Sonic only), and the Sea Fox submarine for both (GG had it for Tails only). Also, the snowboard and snowboarding levels (Snowboard was Sonic only). The game's general palette comes from the GG version for Act 1, and Act 2 is usually where the game is re-imagined further. The game also manages to borrow from other games and reference them well. Like the Sea Fox level has the backgrounds and caverns from Tails' Adventure (Another 8-bit GG game). Overall, I love this adaptation, Noah Copeland has spent 5 long years doing this project, and did a great job. I'd argue its even better than the original.

I played Triple Trouble on the Game Gear, and this is very different from what I remember as a kid... I only ever made it to Tidal Plant because I got stuck on the under water sections, but the biggest difference here that i can see is the submarine not being DESTROYED when you get hit. I think Tails also had scuba gear (instead of the sub) when you played as him.
The reason the sub was small was because it was originally for one person. Tails used first used it in the game gear game Tails Adventure.
The triple trouble...is the TROUBLE.

I’m watching this one year later, and this game got a small update with Amy playable now. And I’m really looking forward to see you replay this game with all the chaos emeralds and do the real final boss fight along with the update!
Not exactly a fan game although the first one did start out as one but have you considered looking at the Freedom Planet games? They're heavily inspired by 2D Sonic, the first one came out back in 2014 and the sequel came out this year after 7 years in development. Sure, they don't have Sonic as a character in them but they're some of the most polished things to come out of the Sonic fandom. The second game's scope in particular is ridiculous.
Please replay this game to get the last Chaos Emerald so you'll have access to the true final boss, find Purple Palace Zone in Robotnik Winter Zone, play through Knuckles' story and play the story mode of competition mode
I love Sonic fangames, recommend Sonic Robo Blast 2, but definitely explore this area. There's some wild content.

Fun Fact: Fang/Knack isn't a weasel; that was a stupid localization thing. They though no one would know what a jerboa is... and yet that was exactly why he was a jerboa in the first place.
If you ever get around to playing more Metroid on your main channel, there’s some great hacks for games like Super Metroid or Zero Mission. I’d also recommend fan games like Super Mario Flashback even if it isn’t done yet. And if you wouldn’t mind double dipping into Sonic 06, Project 06 is an INCREDIBLE remake that fixes bugs and other problems that plagued the original rushed release.

@6:58 I went to Walmart to see if I could find anything comparable to Tiger Electronics for this year's Toys for Tots drive---they were huge in the 90s.
But this year, the closest thing I could find was a retro Pacman LCD game, which really didn't seem like it'd cut it for Toys for Tots.

I’d recommend SRB2, a Sonic fan game made in the Doom engine that is really good.
If you want a non-Sonic fan game, try Mari0 (or Mari0: AE), a Mario x Portal fan game.

Probably someone who said this already, but this remake is pretty faithful to the original game, but it's also got a lot of original stuff. For instance, Metal Sonic was not in the original game. Knuckles was a true villain in it. Triple Trouble was basically the Sonic 3 of the Game Gear, but this game adds some context to it, so it happens just after Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Part of that was giving Metal his shapeshifting ability from Sonic Heroes, and making it so Knuckles was Metal the entire time. Knuckles also was not a playable character in the original game, just Sonic alone and Tails alone.

Just gonna recommend some Sonic fangames:
-Sonic GT (A 3D Sonic game that combines the movement and momentum of the Adventure games with the sheer speed of the Boost games. The controls AND level design in this one are truly great, the best sonic gameplay out there even with the official stuff in mind. The unlockable characters in this one are great too, especially Metal Sonic who has the Boost along with the full Adventure moveset)
-Sonic and the Fallen Star (A 2D classic sonic game with a very unique visual identity and a BANGER soundtrack. Seriously, play this one just for the music alone)
-Sonic Robo Blast 2 (This one has been worked on for more than 20 years, that's insane! Play this one for the MASSIVE, active and easily accessible modding scene. The vallina game is great too, it's a classic sonic game, but 3D. Like the other fangames here, this one controls great)
-Sonic 3 AIR (Sonic Origins, but GOOD. This is literally just the definitive way to play Sonic 3 and Knuckles, with options like the drop dash, super peel out, the original soundtrack and mods. There are other fangames for Sonic 1, 2 and CD that are wayyyy better than Origins)
-Sonic P-06 (HEAR ME OUT. We ALL know that Sonic 06 is horrendous. Buuuuuuut, some people on this planet just have a magic touch. ChaosX has used the powers of dark sorcery to somehow turn Sonic 06 into a GOOD game through this remake. Sonic and Shadow's levels are available, with Silver on the way and they are very enjoyable. As an Adventure fan, you will definitely love the Sonic Adventure 3 that we never got)
Also get all the chaos emeralds in Triple-Trouble 16-bit. DO IT, you will NOT be disappointed by the ending and unlockables!
Great selection of fan games, but for Sonic 3 AIR I think the abilities like Drop Dash and Peel-Out are only accessed by completing a number of achievements. Still really good additions though, and the game is wonderful!
Actually the original Triple Trouble is one of my favorite Sonic games and Fang is my favorite sonic character
If you collected all 6 chaos emeralds and get to the end when you save knuckles you would go super sonic and fight dark metal sonic when metal sonic copied the emeralds ( metal sonic stole the 7 emeralds and copied them to transform but metal did not suck up the emeralds leaving sonic with all 7 emeralds and turning into super sonic) (This can only happen if you get all 6 emeralds) I hope you make a video of you fighting the final boss dark metal sonic because that ending is amazing!
I find it strange that I was most definitely subscribed to this channel, was waiting for updates, and when I saw that your community tab said that you posted the first video, I was confused because I didn't get notified! Turns out UA-cam apparently decided to unsubscribe from the channel for who knows why! Maybe make a video on your main channel asking people to subscribe again just in case if UA-cam does this again? Here’s a little recommendation for ya.
There’s an old Sonic fangame called Green Hill Paradise act 2. It’s an open area that has chaos emeralds spread out to collect and go Super. You can get Hyper Sonic too but I won’t spoil how. It’s an old game but it’s still fun to run around in, and I’d love to see it getting love again
