Honestly, mining is the most lucrative activity to begin with. If you save first, find the stairs, and then reload and go straight to the stairs-you can get down past the 10th level, fill your small rucksack, and make ~2000G per run. With the hot springs, you can restore stamina and repeat. Good way to get ahead at first
Yes the Harvest Sprites all like colored grass but it you match the colors to the sprites the love it. So red grass for red sprite and so on. They also love honey. Use sickle to cut the grass in garden to get more colored grass. Never pull it up. Haha. When the sprites come to work on the farm just give them items they like or love and you’ll never have to worry about losing friendship points.
You don’t actually need to match. Sunny, for instance, love red and yellow grass. Plum likes yellow, red, and blue. But, yeah, you’re right about the grass.
1. Get the fishing rod from Zack 2. Befriend harvest sprites behind church 3. Watch entertainment channel every Tuesday 4. Upgrade your rucksack asap 5. Hatch your own chickens by putting an egg in the incubator 6. Give daily gifts to harvest goddess 7. Collect truth jewels (what are they for?) 8. Talk to the villagers twice a day and give them gifts to raise affection 9. Use rainy days to mine, forage and fish 10. Get power berries 11. Use the map 12. Check the bookcase in your house to view logs and balance books 13. Meet Mugi to get a horse 14. You can use all your stamina if your fatigue isn't depleted 15. Don't rush, take your time, don't need to accomplish everything in First Year
I liked how you said that you should take things at your pace. This game definitely imbues that quality. Pressure yourself and you'll never find the game interesting. That's how this version is so different from the previous ones. As some who has played the previous games, I find this version very fun!

Thank you so much! I was used to the pacing of the first story of seasons for the 3ds and found myself rushing from A to B in thos version so much fearing I won't get anything done that it started stressing me out instead of relaxing me. You also showed me how to get to other floors in thr mine (I was kinda struggling with that) and how to restore hearts without using food. Thank you!
If you collect all the Truth Jewels, the Fatigue indicator (the face beside the stamina) will have an additional indicator in a form of a number just like the stamina meter with its numerical indicator. Edit: Additonal tip: You can chop down the tree(s) that bear fruit and honey beside your house so don't worry about what tree you should ask for Gotz to plant because you can always replace them if you wish. Another tip: Befriend Huang quickly by giving him gold ore so that you'll unlock the option of selling to him. Once it is unlocked, you can sell Van's Favorite for 48k - 57k G's. Make sure you leave one for Van tho so that you can unlock his secret shop.
Also, while many are easy to get it's a trick lol. You have to get all of them- and the last one requires you be married for *FIFTY YEARS.* It's a silly item and by then if you're not bored of the game I doubt you'll be worrying about your exact fatigue levels. You made it that long without it so it's anticlimactic.
Oh and the best item at Derby, the Dress, can be sold to Huang for a ton. But you have to buy the truth gem and power berry which adds up to 1900 medals before "Dress" is unlocked -__- you'll make millions though if you know how to work the Derby.
I just want to say thank you for this video. I loved this game when I was a kid when it was still called harvest moon and your tips helped me ease back into the game after so long.
I was excited when SOS M.T. was coming out for the Switch. My copy is arriving this Saturday. In the meantime, I'll be watching your videos so I know what to expect😀
I think the last tip is my favourite there’s just so much and I’m worried about not doing everything but I’ll just do things at my own pace. Thanks for the tips 😊
I wish someone told me that when I first played. My OCD made it irrationally upsetting when I would not be able to win at a competition or I missed some event. Now I just relax and actually enjoy it instead of making it into work.
It's the same with playing Animal Crossing, I think. People get so obsessed and upset when their islands don't look as amazing as other people's and they tend to rush things to get to that level when games like these are supposed to be played at a pace you're comfortable with and you enjoy (which, in all honesty, is the most important aspect of games: that you enjoy them and have fun) 😊
@@IAmVianca You can sell the Animal Trophies to Huang for much for G just like Van's Favorite, did you know that or try it? I tried with the Cluck Cluck Trophy.
Also remember to make ten individual purchases everyday to get vans favorite item in the mail. By individual purchases I mean go someone like Lillia at poultry farm and buy one single chicken feed for 10G and then close menu and stop talking with her. Then talk to her again and buy an second single chicken feed and once again close menu and stop taking with her. Repeat this ten times. In one day and the next morning you get vans favorite item. Which sells for up to 57,000G. You must be friends with Huang (just wrap gold ore and gift it to him everyday until he has 4 Notes of friendship.) in order to sell them for the gold. Geekdom I have two at the moment and I just started. Didn’t know they se for 57,000G! Was gonna give to Van lol thanks! Also, I understand Van has a secret place where he sells. Is it worth it?
Those have record players and ores, if you need them. And the Van’s Favorite, you would need to make sure to only give it to him if you have more than a million on-hand money.
Vianca Martinez thank you for the reply! If I understood that correctly, only start giving van’s favorite only after I have gained 1M G’s? I understand he sells, ores and gold and stuff at the inn but I know after raising his friendship he opens another secret store. Something like that. Was wondering what he sells there and if it’s worth it. But now I understand I should just sell van’s favorite first. Thank you again!
al3st0r when you give enough gifts to the goddess van will show up. Think it’s thirty gifts not sure though. Every Wednesday he is at the inn. Go upstairs and all the way down the hall. If you give him his favorite item he sells high priced items. If I remember the remote control is the best item to sell and get cash for. But the items he sells you is random. So if you want save before handing it to him if you want to get it just be prepared to to possibly sit there and reload you game a lot at times if you farm for the control. And the 15th if every season he is at the town square selling pets. If it is raining he will not be there selling pets and you’ll find him at the inn instead with no pets to buy. So save the day before the 15th and reload if it is raining. That way you can make sure it sunny to get your pets. Lol. But I would just focus on getting and selling vans favorite to Huang and buy the spring 18th the first year you could win tons of medals to exchange for dresses to really make some good cash. You can be a millionaire buy the 19th of the first spring if you play your cards right. Just make sure you have the biggest bag and at least 200,000G buy the spring derby. I can explain in more detail how to if you’d like to hear how because you have to buy an item before the dress shows up to get. Dress sell up to 11,800 to 12,800 a piece.

Hello! Nice video! I've been thinking about getting this game for a while, and I've decided that I'm finally going to. This video and your other helpful videos on this game will be very helpful. The only other Harvest Moon game I've played is Back to Nature on my PSP. I didn't play too much of it, but I enjoyed what I played! (I've also played Animal Crossing and a little of Stardew Valley)
Hi, I just watched your video. Really good and help newbie just like me 😅 please do more updates on this game. Just purchased this game today. Excited to play 😊
Sadly I'm always guilty of your last tip regardless of what farming game I play. But I'm getting better with not trying to do everything at once. Anyway Thank you again for your always helpful tips
Haha, I used to have the same problem. But then I got burnt out quickly. So, I just decided that the next time I played something, I'd be more chill with it. 😅
Great video! Thanks for these tips! One question though: What's the difference between stamina and fatigue? How can you keep your fatigue up if you're out of stamina?
You can raise keep yourself from getting fatigued quickly if you manage to give 10 cucumbers to the Kappa. He’ll give you a mysterious berry that would keep you from getting a blue fatigue gauge even if you deplete your stamina. To get it back to normal (happy pink face), you can buy fatigue-reducing medicine from the clinic, or (a much cheaper way) is to just jump in the hot springs. You can also cook food. Getting all the truth jewels would also increase your fatigue gauge.
Try to win the horse race with a high winning-rate. So you can do easy money in the beginning and makes some activities more easy. Its a bit against your 15th tip but for that people who dont like to grind from early to late this is a good alternative.

Thank you for this video! It is very helpful. I was used to the "coddling" and step by step tutorials in Animal Crossing New Horizons. In this game, you have to figure everything out for yourself which can be frustrating with time flying by the seconds. lol. I will be tuning in for more tips. New sub! :) Oh, one question, I can upgrade my tools for example my hammer but when I go to the Forge I am told I need minerals, do I have to give several minerals at once at least one of them to get the upgrade?
I'm glad you found my video helpful. :) You only need one mineral, but for upgrading there are certain levels involved. If your tool level is sufficient and you have the ore for it (I think the earliest/lowest tier ore is iron, iirc) you just give it to the blacksmith, then wait for a day (or two, depending on the tool and the ore) and then go back to the blacksmith to pick your tool up.
I know I'm late, but I recently got this game because of how much I like Harvest Moons SNES emulator for PC, and I was wondering, can you go through as many years as you need to get all your happiness and become best friends with everyone and do everything? In Harvest Moon, we only had a set number of years so we had to work all night (which was not timed!) and work very carefully during the day.
"Tip #11: Use your map." You didn't need to just call me out like that.... 😭 Yeah so maybe I have such a bad sense of direction I used to waste so much time being lost that I had to load a save... It's a disability!
Ahaha, you and me both (which was why I had to remind myself just as much, haha). This is not as bad as how it is with Portia, though. I get lost easily there. 😅
Just hold on the button for the tool, wait until it powers up and then release the button. Depending on what you want to clear, you may have to hold the button for longer. You can tell the power of the swing by the number that appears above the character’s head.
@@IAmVianca is it illegal ? I kinda think it is sorta altering of saves which is nintendo doesnt allow to. And i read an article about nintendo's altering of save will put you in jail.
It’s not really altering a save file (their idea of altering save file is injecting illegal things into the game or modding the save file) and more like transferring. I’m not going to try it out myself since I prefer to keep my save files where they are at (Steam save for steam, switch for just the switch), though.
@@IAmVianca then im still good even if i just transfer my save file from steam to switch ? I plan to get the game on switch too so i can play while im outside or so. Btw thanks for the info's
You should be because you’re not really tampering the save file. It’s similar to making back-ups of the save file from one SD to another when upgrading your card for the switch.
You have to hold the item you want to give as a gift (take it out of the bag) and then just talk to the person you want to give the gift to. You can choose to gift wrap it for added friend points too if you want. (Also, sorry for the delayed response. I have no idea why UA-cam decided to hold your comment for review, haha).
Ejem - Flour is what the harvest spirits like ... and... if you are doing the grass, make sure to give each spirit the same color grass as their cloths - works just as fine as flour. And really - if you guys are playing this because “looks like Animal Crossing” you wrong - I played the original one and HAD TO play this one :)
The reason why Colored Grass is what I favor to give to the Harvest Sprites in this video is because it doesn’t cost anything and the whole point of this video is to help newbies to the game and those having a difficult time making money. Buying Flour in the early parts of the game, in large quantities, just to give to the HS is a waste of gold that could have just been used to purchase the bag upgrade or buy a chicken/other livestock, and/or ask Gott for the fruit trees. And though it isn’t anything like ACNH at all, a majority of those who are playing the game are from a generation whose only knowledge of Harvest Moon games are the abysmal rip-offs from Natsume (and also, because, a lot more people know about Animal Crossing than Story of Seasons).
I would love to try this game sometime but it's so pricey. Stardew Valley offers so much more for a way cheaper price whiles this game seems like an unfinished replica of Stardew Valley. I feel like the game doesn't add anything new to the table which saddens me since I have always loved farming simulation games and the fact that it's so pricey just seems wrong.
“Unfinished replica” is pretty wrong to say when it comes to this game as Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is the remake of the very game that inspired ConcernedApe to make Stardew Valley in the first place.
Vianca Martinez I never said that stardew valley is the original harvest sim. All I said was that they brought new things to the table whiles this remake didn’t
Emercyn Rose No I just don’t like spending my money on something that offers nothing new to the farming simulator genre. Especially when there are games out there like stardew valley that are way cheaper that offer way more gameplay;)
No one is forcing you to go and take that option. If you don’t like it, don’t choose it. It’s that simple. Instead of being such a hateful homophobic person. Just saying.
LMAO. You claim the game was “bastardized” because it has a feature that isn’t even new to the game it was based from. Maybe look up what being a homophobe is. 😂

Ahaha, you and me both (which was why I had to remind myself just as much, haha). This is not as bad as how it is with Portia, though. I get lost easily there. 😅
Thank you!!!
the best money tip is to befriend huang using gold ore, then sell vans favorite to him for 50k gold
this is very helpful! looking forward to your future vids. 😊
Thank you! 😊
Yey!
How do you throw on the Nintendo switch version I feel so dumb it just goes back into my backpack lol
How to get rid of the stumps and rocks once you upgrade tools to the mithril option?
Just hold on the button for the tool, wait until it powers up and then release the button. Depending on what you want to clear, you may have to hold the button for longer. You can tell the power of the swing by the number that appears above the character’s head.
What's the proper time to go to bed? i want to maximize may time without overslept late morning...
Added tip for newbies. Befriend Carter. You're welcome
I still can’t get the fishing rod so frustrating
You have to get there on time, otherwise the event won't trigger.
Does anyone tried transfering save file from steam pc to nintendo switch ?
Steam discussion said its possible but i cant find anything on google.
I haven’t given it a try yet, but it is possible.
Why can't we cook dishes like in the gameboy version. Do we really need recipes to cook?
Yes, you do. Recipes are very much easier to come by in this version of the game, though.
@@IAmVianca It is, but the gameboy version allows you to cook manually and from recipe. Kinda disappointed that they removed cooking manually tbh
This isn’t based from the GB version but the NES version, though
@@IAmVianca I know, but I compared both of them
Awesome video. Using the mine save exploit - one can make up P4k+ per day.
You can make $10k the very first day :) the mining trick is my old standby in games where it can be exploited
I feel like an idiot but how do I give gifts on the switch. I can’t figure it out.
How do I get a breeding bin for my rabbit?
You get it by upgrading your coop.
@@IAmVianca how do I upgrade my coop?
@@IAmVianca Thank you
You first have to make sure you have the necessary materials, then go to Gotz' House when he is there and ask him to upgrade your coop.
@@IAmVianca thank you again.
basically just do everything asap -.-
I me name s Nikki Thomson I me new friends in your UA-cam video from Nikki Thomson 😘 😘
12:16 HOW DO YOU DO THAT!!!! O_O
Are you talking about strafing?
Its the same tips for gba fomt. You can make 4m in the first year hahaha ez money
Easy money if you befriend with huang 😂
Arsenal lol
This harvest moon game can play on steam?
Im a fan of Harvest Moon games
Yes, you can play this on steam. It's called "Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town" and it's the remake of the GBA Harvest Moon game.
Birgir Steinn Asmundsson if $30 is pricey to you. You’re broke
Emercyn Rose No I just don’t like spending my money on something that offers nothing new to the farming simulator genre. Especially when there are games out there like stardew valley that are way cheaper that offer way more gameplay;)
@@birgir5813 Calling this a replica implies this game came *after*. I enjoy Stardew too, but it’s not the end all be all of farm/life sims.
Hi, can u please help me on how to earn more G's in my 1st year? Thank you..
You can check my other videos for that. I made a couple which should help you get the most amount of Gs during your first year.
They bastardized this game by introducing same sex marriage.
You mean including the very same feature that was available in one of the iterations of the game from the get-go in Japan? That’s funny.
@@IAmVianca same sex marriage shouldn't be allowed, isn't viable for human reproduction.
No one is forcing you to go and take that option. If you don’t like it, don’t choose it. It’s that simple. Instead of being such a hateful homophobic person. Just saying.
@@IAmVianca I'm not being homophobic, moral or religious it just isn't viable for reproduction.
LMAO. You claim the game was “bastardized” because it has a feature that isn’t even new to the game it was based from. Maybe look up what being a homophobe is. 😂
