I had a custom paint and body and fabrication shop for 25 years. I’ve done a lot of aluminum repair and I have built cars completely out of aluminum and then painted them. That stuff works wonders. You can also get it in a ready to spray that you can apply with your spray gun as well but for that small part, I would say you would be just fine using the aerosolDTM self edge primer. I will look and see if I have a can and I will get you the item number.
SEM makes an amazing aerosol self etching primer. You can scrub that thing down with some comet and a red, scratch pad and then put that SEM self etching primer on there and it will hold. It is a green color.
I know a guy that has a really nice OBS and he detailed his engine department and cleaned it with detail brushes using super clean and dawn dish detergent and then he blew it dry and wiped it with microfiber rags while he was washing it. He used a gray 3M Scotch-Brite scuff pad, and then he sprayed high temperature satin clear over everything now he just rinses it off and blows it dry with compressed air.. Looking good hopefully I get some time off this weekend so I can finish up the Escalade
