I really enjoy watching your process and hearing your thoughts as you problem solve rather than just getting the highlights with a voiceover.

Great video Robert! I started out using microballoons and polyester resin before getting into the more user-friendly urethanes. I still use microballoons on rare occasion, and it's definitely critical to wear a proper respirator when working with it. You definitely don't want to get that stuff in your lungs!

Microballoons are expensive in TR. I am using strofoam spheres in my resin casts to make floating fishing lures. I determine the additional weight and center of mass to hold it at the desired position for the swimming action. I drill a hole and insert the weight and seal with resin. There is such an application in my profile. ☺️
Another great vid. This is my realm making lures. You can have the mold hold all your parts if you get creative. The buoyancy can change on you so u have to do tests every time. You did really good for only a few trys 💪 I guess that's what years of experience does lol.
This video was already worth it just for the safety aspects alone. I luved how you just wore the mask as a special bonus measure, just in case you horribly screw up the adding of the floaty stuff. Idiots actually film themselves and put videos up how they screw up the atmosphere for the rest of the day, but oh the machine is not going anymore, or the container is closed or whatever the source of the mess was, DONE, off with the mask, off with the gloves woo-hoo, why not!
very good of you to mention a respirator - but youre actually not using a particle filter! The cloth piece that goes ontop only filters particles, the charcoal filter that youre wearing only filters fumes.

Yes, you could rotomold the body hollow, but it is very difficult to control the consistency of the inner walls. So getting the balance right would be difficult. Each casting would be slightly different.

Great work as always! In your video a bit after this one, you did a two-part pour for the little narwhal... Question: could you not have done the same here with the first pour being only resin and use the pressure pot and the second using the microspheres sans pressure? It SEEMS you would eliminate the added shot and have a denser area to affix the hook, etc. Am I missing something that makes this a bad idea? I ask because this, making lures, is something I intend to attempt now my chess pieces are coming out acceptable (ALL thanks to watching your videos.) Warmest regards.
Hi love this video and I'm a new subscriber to your channel. I wanted to ask if the same can be done with both non toxic resin and the plastic micro? As I want to make objects floating in water while people are swimming through pool and swimming underwater. ❤
if you 3d print the core from plastic (or normal casting) then coat with metal, you can remove the core plastic, leaving only the outside metal shell, that floats, like a boat
Yes, and one of these days I will do a foam molding video. But that is very different than the kind of resin, casting that I normally do and requires different procedures.
I have been playing around with adobe podcast. It does an amazing job of improving the audio quality when I record sound through the camera but you can hear it’s not natural sound.
I’m not sure what the filler is in featherlite, and I’ve never used it. But if it is some kind of microsphere , then no, a pressure pot will crush them.

yes, in theory, you could do it that way. Just a matter of experimenting to get the ratio right so that the flotation works.

how about casting a metal shell only, try the conductive paint electro plating metal surface, the inside can be puffed out after, rotocast to the mold

Because I’m experimenting with Adobe Podcast. But you can certainly hear the difference between Ai enhanced audio and audio recorded through a mic.

It should be relatively easy to control the placement and density of infill within the print.
