    I stopped by the BMW motorcycle dealership to look at the S1000R and RR models, and saw this one parked next to them. What a beautiful motorcycle! I spent more time looking at the K1300S than the bikes I went to see.

    I have the K1300R, and it is the best bike I have owned. More than enough torque and power. I have titanium free flowing Delkavic muffler and it sounds insane.

    It’s not the longer wheelbase smoothing things out. That’s the telelever front and the paralever rear suspension. The front suspension separates suspension and steering and braking forces and is easily the best street suspension I have ever owned.
    The Motorsports also has the Akropovic titanium/ Carbon exhaust, Forged wheels, ESA, ABS, machined pegs and the snazzy paint. That bike is STILL king of BMW’s sport touring bikes.

    The sun is just rising, you're on a great bike, I'd have kept going. You have more discipline than I do. I'd like to head out tomorrow, Saturday, but I have a shop full of money to make, so it'll have to wait till Sunday. I have an R1100R, and if I doubled my HP it'd still be less than that bike. My old R100GS, if I tripled it's hp it'd just barely surpass the 1300. But Hp isn't all that makes a great bike. By the time you reach 64 just being able to sling a leg across one is quite an accomplishment in itself.

    Hey Cal Moto, nice vid. Fantastic audio! How is it that you can be heard so clearly, even at some decent speeds? Don't you guys have an atmosphere there? ..the big question though, the important one. K1300 S, or R?

    • @calmoto9073
      @calmoto9073  8 років тому +3

      +MrRocketJockey First, the mics are far more sensitive at walking speed than 100mph; so, I try to get up to speed asap so as not to sound like such a mouth breather;) Second, BMW doesn't import the K1300R to the States:( That said, it's a sports touring bike and I believe that as much as like the R, I would ultimately choose the S. Cheers!

      Cal Moto The HP wheels are lighter than stock, thus less unsprung weight, therefore the suspension can work better. You said you were on a bumpy road, it doesn't matter about speed or your revs. Was the ride quality markedly different from a K1300S with the stock wheels.

      MemoryLaneCinema I've owned a Ducati for the last 5 years. Yes, they are cool and exotic, but always have problems. My LCD dash started dropping pixels. Had to be replaced. My race ECU failed, crippling the bike and leaving me stranded on the road. Had to replace. The rear brake master cylinder had to be replaced twice. Low RPM fuel deliver is TERRIBLE. Software patches have not fixed it. Too many problems to make it worth my trouble. It's an awesome bike, when it's working right. My my confidence in my Multistrada is no longer there.

    • @MemoryLaneCinema
      @MemoryLaneCinema 9 років тому

      TheToekutter I just bought the MS 2015. I had the bmw k1300s before, but I sold it cause it is just not the same. Too heavy and just not the same when you start it up etc. I have no doubt that bmw and honda are reliable, but I wanna have fun riding. The bmw GS and the sportstourers are too heavy to have fun with imo. I have 5 year guarantee in my country anyway for the problems you mention.
      Another thing is that we only hear from the guys that have these problems. I have talked to many folks who have not had these problems.

If you really want to buy the cheapest bike, whatever, buy a Honda Ruckus. You can't really compare the K1300s to the ZX14R. You would have to put thousands into the ZX14R to make it comparable in build quality, creature comforts, suspension performance, and sport touring abilities.

Definitely not worth the price tag, and I really like BMW (I have an M3), but they really dropped the ball with this bike.. I would hope for the 20k price tag they can at least match the performance of the the Hayabusa and ZX-14R

      Meh, I usually skip intro's anyway on the channels that I follow. Some are short enough that I can't be bothered anyway, but otherwise it's a quick skip and I'm good. Thing is, intros serve a purpose, if you watch a video of that channel for the first time it's a nice identifier... once you start to know the channel, it starts to become less relevant.
      I dunno, I guess I agree that it's a bit on the long side, but my attention span has been ruined by the internet anyway... which is more my problem than anything else.

      Cal Moto Btw, like your videos though, that BMW is a monster, I can't imagine how it would be to ride something like that. Do you have any bikes left that you're dying to try for yourself?

      I was sitting on one just this week at the Intermot fair. Quality bike, definitely more modern than they look. I'm warming up to them (wasn't that impressed from the pictures/videos, but it's much nicer in real life).

      Obviously you've never ridden one. the 2016 K1300S is the 11th fastest production bike in the world. It may not be now. How many Ducati's were on that list? ZERO.

    Most offensive and awful intro music I have ever heard, made me hit delete in 5 seconds or less.
