Interesting tidbit here: Billy Gibbons heard Depeche Mode and fell in love with that electronic/post-punk sound that they were doing in the early 80's and even went to one of their concerts to talk with them and they were taken aback when someone from ZZtop, a hugely successful blues rock band from Texas, liked what they were doing enough to take notice of their sound. The reason this song, and most of the songs on the Eliminator album had that synth sound/4 to the floor beat, is due to the inspiration of the electronic dance music Depeche mode were making at the time along with New order.
Do you think it would be good if Jayvee did a reaction to DM? I think it would be a great idea 🙂. Hopefully he'll react to Personal Jesus. Stay safe my unknown internet companion.
Texas representing!! Btw the guitarist Billy Gibbons said in a few interviews that he fell in love with the blues as a kid when his dad took him to my grandfather’s recording studio in Houston, and he heard BB King recording a session!
Way back when, in the golden age of hard rock. Jimi Hendrix himself expressed his admiration for Billie Gibbons by giving Billie a pink Stratocaster that Gibbons still owns to this day. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Billy Gibbons is an underrated guitar god AND amazing soulful vocalist! ZZ Top has been THE party band here in their home state of Texas for almost 50 years now!! And this is one of their best bluesy rockers!
Oh my gosh ...you just reminded me how super popular they were for a while....they always played them on MTV...I remember like it was yesterday. Thanks for the memories you bring up.
"A well dressed man is more attractive to me than a shirtless man with a six pack" I don't know who originally quoted that but I remember reading it somewhere. You are right it is a good enough song to cruise along to in your car! It is true, women do love a sharp dressed man. Prior to this pandemic my husband and I would enjoy dressing up now and then even if it is just going out to eat locally or to a movie or a show/play and it's quite fun actually and we find there are other couples out there doing the exact same thing! Great reaction! Peace! 👌☮
I just like wearing my wife beater black t-shirts so i can show off my great tattoos, some really weathered jeans and my hiking boots is all I ever wear. getting dressed up is too expensive, too pretentious, and too uncomfortable. having a silly tie and a collar around one's neck isn't worth the effort to impress anybody.
True! And clean hands. Saw ZZ back when they hit the UK and for just 3 guys they rocked the roof off. I'm sure it was Hammersmith Odeon. Great party mix tune, guaranteed to get the guys up n moving.

Man...I saw them in concert a few times back in the 80's! They put on a hell of a show! Especially when they had the Vegas show girls dancing when the played viva las Vegas! IT WAS BAD AZZ! lol. 🎸🎸🥁🎤🎼🎵🎶🤘🤘😊😊
I'm a Texan and the first time I saw these guys play, I was around ten years old. They used to play at the Balinese Room in Galveston. My older siblings would take me when they were babysitting me! This song wasn't out yet. The best ZZtop songs were on Rio Grande Mud and Fandango! This wasn't my favorite era of their music but I have seen them in concert countless times over the years and they are awesome in concert. Billy Gibbons has a jazz band and they also play some Cuban style music as well. Pretty good stuff.
ZZ Top have been around a while - and for a good reason: they have successfully fused rock with blues, along with some other components. You might also want to check out: "Doubleback", "Tush" and "Sleeping Bag". Rockin' good music!
ZZ Top.. That lil' old band from Texas. My first ever live concert experience was ZZ Top back in 1991. My dad took me there. His last ever live concert experience was ZZ Top's 50th anniversary tour in 2019 where I took him. :) Another great reaction to another great song.
One of my favorite bands in 80's. I wouldn't have heard of them if wasn't for MTV. They were popular in the 70's and I probably heard a song from them on the radio, but didn't know it was them.
I discovered old classic rock when I was a teenager. I remember driving around and when this song came on- from my CD playlist- it was almost impossible for me to keep from edging that gas pedal closer to the floor. 😎

ZZ Top had crazy style. The synchronized movements, the spinning guitars (not on display here). And the videos were always the three guys pulling the strings in people's love lives, using those three sexy witches. LOL
Cool story my grandpa told me, there was a shaving company that was gonna pay them millions to be in an ad that shows then shaving their beards with their razors, and they wouldn't do it.
