Awesome video! I asked this before but I'll ask again, what are people willing to pay for that amount of work and supply cost? I painted helmets and bicycles 30 years ago but went back to college and became an engineer. I had fun painting and still do but short of opening a body shop, I wasn't seeing the kind of profit needed to make a good living. I'm in Socal as is Troy Lee so there's a decent client base here.
You certainly nailed the pudding on the wall with this one, pure Art 🙌🏼👌🏼👊🏼 I love how you make it look so simple where many of us know this is one of the hardest spray jobs to get perfect 👌🏼
Hahaha ...exactly!! What components to use tho, modern or vintage, polished or black'd ? 🤔🤔 ...gosh its giving me too many ideas, i dont have the budget for...😭
Really interesting finish. Love seeing the small airbrush work. Would love to see you recreate something like a Klein Nightstorm, but with a modern twist. I’ll happily donate a frame!
Exclenete Trabajo!
Great job! But the frame is not a Cinelli, it's a Battaglin. Why putting that name? Battaglin also offers some nice Cromovelato paintjobs on their new bikes. Cheers!
Because the tubeset is made by Cinelli and labeled by Cinelli under BREV.228295-84. So it's official a Cinelli wo produced the Battaglin lugs and tubesets.
Very nice explanation of the type of paint job and what it takes to do it. I have an 89 Pinarello Montello with this type of paint, in a sort of brown color believe it or not. It has factory pantographed Campagnolo seat post and Cinelli stem, factory-painted to match the frame and I always wondered how this paint job was accomplished. It is all in fgood condition, probably because I've had the bike and am too afraid to ride it as I have been told that this paint is very delicate and I can certainly see why. Seems to be holding up but having not been on the road or exposed to the elements for almost 25 years, I guess that should be expected.
Wonderful video! Is the clear coat also special for cromovelato? I have an early 1980s Moser frame with cromovelato paint that is starting peel in places. I would like to at least slow it down, and was thinking of clear coating it. Thanks again.
Important question, I think so too. Can't find anyone in Germany, who (re)paint my cromovelato. Really sad story. I guess, Martin used the same clearcoat, because it has to cover up the the basic chrome layer (from the beginning) in the peeled off areas, too. But it's just a logical reflection - so it could be false. ;-)
I appreciate this tip, your work is magnificent, it turned out really cool, I'm doing a similar job that led me to watch your video, does it look cool in blue, green and pink colors?
Very cool. I got some friends in my city that have old bikes, it will be interesting show them this paint job. Although I m a doctor and have plenty of work, I love biking and everything that goes along with it, painting is fun and may be some extra money would be nice in the f..cked economy of my country. Thanks Martin 👍🏽
Nicely done!!!! You have inspire me to paint my old road bike aluminum frame. One question what is the best way to paint decals/logos on the bike. Thanks keep it up great work.

Have you ever experimented with Duplicolor Metalcast rattlecans. They say they are designed to adhere to chrome and bare metal without a primer to produce a translucent colour effect. ..maybe this could be an idea for a video.
I had the idea 7 years ago to use Dupli Metal Cast cans but couldn't afford them since. As you might know my followers don't support me and I have to finance all by myself.
I do not tire of watching this video. Such beautiful work. I have a newly chromed Faggin frameset to which I want to have a cromovelato finish. what can you tell me about the primer? is it an adhesion promoter as would be used on plastic bumpers?
Hi! Super nice job! Did you add some clear coat which we don't see on the video? I am wondering how it is possible that the bottom bracket has clear underneath as you didn't really spray to there? I have hard time to apply paint/clear to all parts especially under the frame and you seem to do it effortlessly. How is that possible? Thank you.
One question: I repainted a vintage metal frame with a 1k spray can colour and it came out beautiful, however because its just a spray can colour it's very soft and can be scratched easy, but a friend lended me a compressor. The question is: CAN I SPRAY A 2K CLEAR COAT OVER 1K PAINT? I could find a relevant answer any were on the internet about this. Cheers Vlad.
Love it Martin! That came out soooo sweet! Haven't even seen one of those since I was a kid. Do you use a HS clear on all of your bikes? Which gun was that you used to spray it?
or i might ask another way, if using chrome effect color on carbon frame and then putting candy on top of it? Does it need special chrome primer to be used on chrome and as well in candy? thx
Yeah ....please do another chromo video using spray cans....i've got a chrome Carlton i wanted to do this on, before i saw this video i was about to use regular spray can paints. 😅🙈🙈
Hello, I am trying to paint my bike with a yellow and orange gradient on a raw carbon frame, would I back it with black or white or should I not back it with anything.
I've painted a frame with a similar effect, but using automotive 'Anodised effect' rattle tins, which adhere really well onto chrome coatings and are also semi-transparent.
Awesome video! I asked this before but I'll ask again, what are people willing to pay for that amount of work and supply cost? Best frame so far. I'm drooling (and I grew up in the 80's). Thanks.
This is SICK! Lugged steel Italian frame ☑️, vintage patina ☑️, green chrome fade ☑️. Bravissimo!
That red inside the C is the perfect final touch. Good job, Martin!
yeah but a weird touch too cause its a battaglin frame :D
That red on the C in Cinelli is bang on. Great spray job as always.
Nice, do more steel frames!
I agreed
This is my favorite one yet by far! That's saying a lot considering I love all of these videos.
Thank you for taking the time to paint, record and edit this video. Fantastic!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
wow! wonderful result. Nice to see someone who truly enjoys what they do
You, my man, are a f*in legend!
In one or two years I will replace my steel travel bike for a full custom, and will sure ring you for the paintwork.
Alter Falter, sehe diese Art zum ersten mal und bin hin und Weg. Krass.

This is awesome! That tiny bit of red makes a difference.
Like the proverbial cherry on the cake.....just wont be the same without that punch! 😍

Complimenti vivissimi, un lavoro perfetto! Bravo!!

looks amazing. i wish we could see the final bike build.

Gorgeous! But no head tube logo 🤔 ideal place for the C in Cinelli ..
i swear , it deserves more views

I just saw a chromovelato finish on a bike that had rust forming through the chrome. It will take some effort to restore it, I suspect.
I seriously wetted myself as you pulled of the stencil after putting red onto the cinelly logo.
Mmmmmmmmm, just scored a 1985 cromovelato bike with mint Nuovo Record. Soooooo pretty.

Do you mean rubbing alcohol as a degreaser? And did you degrease again before the clear coat? Thanks!
Quick question: the seat stay caps clearly spell "Battaglin" yet you logoed the bike "Cinelli." Can you enlighten me/us? Thanks

The answer is yes and no depending on the ingedients used in the 1K and 2K.
Stunning
excellent!!!!!
you are a freaking savant my friend!

Please find the spray guns in the video description
@@ETOEThanks. I saw the LPH80 in the description, just thought it looked more like a full size gun for the clear. Love your work!
i was wondering how durable is the paint? does it peel off?
So, no sanding at all with this paint system? 🤔
Hello.. as usual nice video..How to strip paint from aluminum alloy (6061-T6 frame ).. paint remover will work or sanding ?
Love it❤
Can you do this on carbon frame?
Absolutely stunning! Does this work on aluminium frames too? Could you polish and then tint an Al frame this way?
yes
as we Italian say: FIGATA!
Bravo!!!! 🙌🏼
excuse me sir but cromovelatura isn't an electrical process called galvanic process?
Beautifull.

Yes
@@ETOE Thanks Martin, have some stainless tubing, will give it a try
thank you for always sharing ^_^
Is this efect similar to a candy paint job?
hermoso!!
can you make video how to make chrome effect on carbon frame? would be interesting, please!
If somebody pays for the effort, yes.
or i might ask another way, if using chrome effect color on carbon frame and then putting candy on top of it? Does it need special chrome primer to be used on chrome and as well in candy? thx

@@ETOE ok can i send you my frame then?
I imagine that colour must be a pain making visible all fingerprints. So Martin, are those colours are some sort of kandy colours?
Is this possible using spray cans? Looks smooth, absolutely perfect 👌🏻
I guess these translucent colours are a No No in spray cans
Yes I will do a future video about that.
Bakerman is baking bread 🍞
@@ETOE Thanks for replying but I'm not quite sure what you mean.
hello how much do you charge to do this work on a steel frame
Depends on the condition of the frame. Show your frame here at the shop, no online pictures please.
Love the flag.
I've painted a frame with a similar effect, but using automotive 'Anodised effect' rattle tins, which adhere really well onto chrome coatings and are also semi-transparent.
They are called Dupli-color Metalcast
How do manage to not do overspray with the blue and Green to the yellow.?
By hiring a good manager.
Looks so titanium! I want to learn.
do you flip the frame while painting, im finding it hard to get the spraygun spraying on the downside of the tubes..
No I flip my spray guns.
WOW
is it possible to spray just a clear coat over a raw steel frame?
Yes but it won`t stick in the long run.
@@ETOE Martin^ so what would be the solution to clear coat the polished steel frame? Need a special clear primer? If so - which one? thanks
@@ttizm send me the frame. I do it for you.
