The way you do cromovelato is emblematic of the chief characteristic or theme of your company. In other words, you could say the Officina Battaglin concept is a harmonious fusion of supreme function and beauty. Producing high-performance masterpieces where performance and artistry are inseparable...an alchemy which crystallizes enduring perfection into every bike.
I just bought a 1987 Pinarello Tre Cime. In those days, Pinarello also chromed the entire frame and fork, and then painted over the chrome. But the painted sections have a more satin finish; I believe this is because only the sections where it would be exposed was the chrome polished--depending on the model, this was the chain stay, seat stay caps, fork and crown, etc. The Tre Cime was a lower-level model, so there is very little exposed chrome. In the 33 years since the bike was built, paint has worn off in some areas, leaving exposed chrome, which has been polished by friction. The decals (except for one Columbus Matrix fork decal) have also worn off, as Pinarello did not clear coat after applying the decals. Overall the effect is nice and subtle, not striking like your Battaglin's finish.
So you start with a small frame and when it's cleaned up it becomes extra large. Then when it's chrome plated it shrinks back down to a small size again . When it's painted it becomes medium sized. That's amazing.
Hi there, how much weight does the chrome plating add to the frame? They do look absolutely stunning by the way, and I am interested in the different process used on the carbon forks, since carbon cannot be electroplated.

Does the cromovelato finish require any special care to preserve the beautiful finish?
Not really! Just the basic maintenance for any high-end steel frame.
