In this 1986 Interview with Gary Collins, Hollywood screen legend Kim Novak talks about leaving Hollywood, her life in Carmel in Northern California and her guest appearance on CBS' prime time soap Falcon Crest.
The interview was done on location in the Napa Valley while filming Falcon Crest.

Kim Novak was and is my favorite lady from Hollywood, not because she is beautiful on the outside, but because she is a wonderful person on the inside. A good person is much more valuable than a beauty queen.

Kim Novak is a true Star who worked with in her great career Rita Hayworth, Jack Lemmon, Elizabeth Taylor, William Holden, Roz Russell, James Stewart, Jane Wyman, Rock Hudson, etc and Directors such as Billy Wilder, Otto Preminger, and most famously Alfred Hitchcock.
My fvorite Kim Novak film is Richard Quine's Strangers When We Meet with Kirk Douglas and Walter Matthau.

I think she didn't want the name and the studio tried to force it on her. They didn't like the name Novak, said it sounded Polish, but she held her ground on keeping her last name. She negotiated with the name Kim instead of Kit, but years later obviously she had humor about it all by using the name with a character. She talked about this when speaking of her days under the studio star system that was so controlling in actor's lives years ago. She has had a very productive life, cool lady.
