    Linda Darnell was the most beautiful actress in Hollywood. I believe she never got the credit she deserved for her acting ability. The Hollywood studios should have treated her better. It was nice to see her in this episode of What's My Line. Her warmth, sense of humor and beauty shine through! She seemed like a really nice person who deserved better luck in life. I try to catch her movies whenever I can. May God rest her soul.
    Thanks for posting this episode!

      neither had I. I was just now watching "Blackbeard, The Pirate (1952)", she was leading lady in it. (Note: Irene Ryan was in it to, but I did not even recognize her. She played "Granny" in "Beverly Hillbillies"). Did not know who she was, eventhough I'm sure I'd seen the movie before. Then I found out who she was, never heard her name before. Looked at her Filmography, I'm sure I've seen some of her movies, but I guess I never took note of her, her name before. She is gorgeous!! Such a "healthy" look.

      The episode with a challenger who has poise in front of the cameras because of numerous other television appearances, beauty queens, and so on are often the most fun because the challenger is so much more comfortable and able to have fun with their appearance. The further back you go in WML, the more this is true because television was still such a new medium then. Now, most people are a ham in front of a television camera, even when they aren't the feature.

    Such a beauty & talented actress. So horrible to be burned in a house fire, resulting in her death. She was afraid during the fire scenes she was in ‘Forever Amber”. She was also wonderful in “My Darling Clementine” with another of my favorites, Victor Mature, & “Letter To Three Wives”. She was taken too soon!

    Mostly when actors do phony accents on this show I get annoyed but LINDA DARNELL was clearly enjoying herself so much as a REAL southern belle from TEXAS playing an Italian Gina Lollobriggida-type character that it really rubbed off hilariously on the moderator, the panel, the audience and the viewers at home. Such an UNDER-rated and talented actress who met with such a tragic end falling asleep while smoking on the couch of her secretary outside Chicago and burning to death at the untimely age of just 41 in 1964. RIP.

    • @waynej2608

    • @slaytonp
      @slaytonp 4 роки тому +1

      Of course Goldfish are animals. They aren't plants. It will take the panel and John a few more years to get better at the biological science terminologies. This is certainly not their expertise at this point. However, for the point of the questioning, they are all on the same page, so it probably doesn't make a lot of difference in the game.

    • @philippapay4352
      @philippapay4352 4 роки тому +1

      @FergusMcDopey - Yes, the kingdom of goldfish is animalia. John must have been too pressured for time. There are times when something within a category can be different in differing fields: like, a tomato is a botanical fruit, but in culinary terms a vegetable. But, it is still plant life, vegetation, neither animal nor mineral. This show was for charming fun and not a lot of money involved, so I think they were not strict in the way they were with "Password" definitions and the game's rules.

  • @519djw6

    I know this issue has been addressed *many* times before, but I'd like to know just how a man who breeds goldfish can say he has nothing to do with animals! (And once again, John Daly lets him get away with it.)

      She was wonderful in No Way Out. A tremendously underrated actress, in her time. She did great work in Fallen Angel and A Letter to Three Wives. I liked her a lot in My Darling Clementine too, an early role for her. Actually, I'll watch anything she was in. There are very few, I feel that way about. Besides, she's really quite the talent.
