Yeah, my dumb 7 year old self did a „dash-attack-only“-run, because he did not know that other attacks, which do not involve spamming the A-button even existed. 😅
Fun fact- Blast seeds are essentially grenades when you throw them. But eating them will restore a little hunger as well as cause damage only to the tile in front of you.
One mechanic that was probably super annoying in this run is that you aren't getting the bonus EXP that you would get from knocking out a pokemon with a move.
I actually finished explorers of time like that when i was a kid. I was so bad at english (not my mother language) that i only discovered how to use the moves after beating Dialga.
This video made me almost tear up from nostalgia. Absolutely my favorite game of all time was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team, and the new version of it, DX mystery dungeon for switch, pays an excellent homage to the previous game and even keeps the same art style. Both games are an absolute wonder to play through and thankyou Zwiggo for letting me experience this gem once again
Just the thought of a no-move run was so stressful to think about.. I can’t believe you went to all of the effort of doing this, props man. Watched this video while I was shiny hunting, very entertaining. I love the mystery dungeon games more than anything!
9:34 Instead of letting Treeko stay beside Zapdos like a sacrifice, you could have just utilized the Tactics and command Treeko to get away so whatever move Zapdos will use it would lead to a miss on Treeko, (it would often times miss but it's still down to a matter of luck)
That's the time to strategize either by spamming sleep seeds, eat a explosive seed to deal 30 damage repeatedly or make use of learned moves and have Zapdos on low health as long as you have a stack of of oran berries and some reviver seeds this first boss fight won't be too hard unless if played on an emulator, players can just reload anytime but it's just a shame to do so, it takes away the thrill and triumph.
Funnily enough, right after release, my local walmart accidentally marked Mystery Dungeon Blue at $15 and i was able to get it on luanch day for half price.
All I gotta say is that this is probably going to be one of the most *grind heavy" runs I've ever seen. Moves are what give you damage and without that you have to resort to head butting enemies to die.
my neighbour yells at her dogs and young child (i think she is 7) over literally everything. one day i heard her literally scream, doors slammed and then heard 'i cant take this anymore' as she sobbed uncontrollably...she never leaves her house, doesnt have a boyfriend yet gets all these expensive new things. the amount of times she wakes me up at 8AM or even sooner is ludicrous
I felt so dumb as a child. I always wondered how the other pokemon got so strong, until I realised end game that u can use items and your special moves
"Even from ThunderShock which is resisted." FYI, resistance is useless in Red/Blue Rescue Team, it's a mere 0.9x multiplier. That is, Meditite would take more damage from Psychic-type move than a Zigzagoon because of how laughably bad resistance multiplier is.
@@NazimUddin-we5tv That's the joke; resistance should inverse of weakness, but it's not. Meditite would take 45% (0.9x1.5) more damage than Zigzagoon, even though in main series they are both neutral to Psychic-type moves. This was fixed in Explorers where resistanceXweakness results in nearly 1x (it's more like 0.99x)
This is great! I’m currently doing a “beating Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers with no moves” except the partner pokemon can use moves. The dojo, sleep seeds, and thorns are basically my best friends in this game. Edit: It’s done (has been for a while), Darkrai had been defeated. Spamming X-eye seeds is a 10/10 strategy.
Mystery dungeon: *the bare essentials run* When I first played this game I just tried to spam the a button to win and didn't use any moves nor tms because they "looked complicated" got my behind kicked then actually played the with just moves and still got my butt kicked because I wasted all my oran berries
Man...this was my second Pokemon game ever. I still remember how frustated I was when I was trying to beat Moltres... a lot of memories come in surface with this run
This is one of my favourite game it has very good storyline and soundtrack I just love this game ❤️ and yeah we should respect his grind in this game because it is very hard and with no moves it is terrifying .
Damn dude, massive respect for getting through this. I thought this said that you were beating it with no new moves, not no moves at all. These games aren't easy, so great job getting through it. Love the content man! 👏
LOVED it. Its really nice to see a spin-off game challenge. Also cuz I've never got past moltress and idk the full story. While you're doing spin off challenges, do a Pokemon Conquest challenge!(Like an only-eevee-jigglypuff run or something)
Ah yes, beating a Pokemon game by drugging them and throwing explosives as well as just literal rocks at them. PETA might come to your house and make noises louder than your neighbours.
This hits the nostalgia bone hard for me. I still have both Red and Blue team, as well as the offical guide. Ditto for Time/Darkness (w/guide). Mystery dungeon is the most underrated Pokemon spin-off franchise. I'm glad that DX rebooted the franchise, it needs some love.
See more pmd on your channel would be amazing, I love those spin offs, pokemon ranger would be great too. Pokemon games have some really cool and underrated spin offs
What a throw back! I remember my first ever run playing blue rescue team not knowing about special moves (i was super young to be fair)... i only found out about them when i got to the articuno boss fight after dying too many times
I remember when I played this game for the first time, I didn't even now you could use moves so I just kept spamming A and using gravelerocks and blast seeds, plus iron thorns and steel spikes late game.
Yes, yes you can. In fact, in the postgame, i just punched legendaries into submission with my Sceptile, because they just broke way too fast if i actually used my moves... ...i really want to experimence the good old days again. Not-so-fun fact: when i was a kid, i read on bulbapedia that Mew is "only available once per game", which i misinterpreted as "If you can't get it first try, you need to delete your save file and start again." And so i did. About a dozen times (literally). If only i didn't go to bulbapedia to help, i might've 100% this game ;(
You need to do a mystery dungeon game using NO ITEMS!!! Any PMD. I can't find any attempt at this on UA-cam and I'm honestly surprised but I think you're the only person who would try it and film it
I would love a Pokemon Conquest challenge. Pokemon Conquest is a Gen 5 spin-off game that is quite different to other Pokemon games. Instead of catching Pokemon, you are joined by other people to help you at battle! And evolution is very different. For example, a Gible will evolve into Gabite with 72 Attack, and into Garchomp with 142 Attack. Tbh, it's quite underrated, and I wanna see this great challenge: Pokemon Conquest without Losing any other Warriors! [Excluding yourself!]
I loved this game!!! I beat the game ~4-5 times but never really did anything in the post game because of the GRIND no one TELLS YOU about that you HAVE to do to do ANYTHING in the post game. So when the remake came out I beat the game, did the grind, got Mew as soon as I could, became Mew (disappointed I can’t change from Delcatty -> Mew in the over world), got Jirachi... and now I’m looking at Purity Forest...
I’ve spent more time with Red Mystery Dungeon than any other main line Pokemon game. Playing as your favorite Pokémon was a game changer when I was younger.
Loved the video Zwiggo! And would definitely love a Pokemon Ranger video, the humor in that game is so campy and dumb, is amazing. I don't know what challenge could you do for that game, but you will see me in the comment section of that video, promised.
hey zwiggo really appreciate your efforts and great job. i actually have a request/suggestion similar to professor oak challenge where you finish the dex, can you do the same in this game and make every Pokémon your friend . someones done a speedrun of that but in Explorers they might have done Rescue team too. easy to find here on youtube. :) be fun to see this youtuber attempt it
Took me until halfway through the game to realise "Moves" were in the game. Didn't know I could throw damage items. I thought this was the hardest game ever, trying to defeat the likes of Zapdos without moves.

My hardest part of the Sky Pillar area were the stupid ghosts. Unless I have something to walk on clouds then I get stuck not being able to attack them.
The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon endings are so fucking great and sad. I don't know which ending was more sad, the Red/Blue Rescue or Explorers of Sky/Time/Darkness one
Other than F-Zero GX, this line of games are Nintendo's hardest games. Really glad that someone in Game Freak and Creatures liked Dark Cloud and Azure Dreams.
I did this when I was a kid because I never knew that the moves existed. I only found out about them during one of those challenge dungeons at the end. The attack missed too.
For those planning on playing the game, play it on Switch. There’s so many quality of life improvements that it’s insane- for example, you can find those Chestnuts on any floor of the dungeon, not just the last 2.
Gotta be honest, english isn't my first language, so I completed the game (well, beat Rayquaza) without using moves, and took me forever T.T I'm amazed at how fast you did it, great job
consider an explorers of sky run if you feel like it but i’ve been meaning to recommend it for a while. there’s a lot more item variety which could lend to more strategies for you to use in a no-attack run
To be fair, rocks and other throw items were exactly how I beat it because leveling up took so goddamn long that I was under leveled for a lot of the game. Rocks literally rock.

@@dansamolewicz3462 honestly no capture assists would be very easy. I remember my first playthrough of shadows of almia I practically never used them
