  • Every year Apple releases a new iPhone, and usually there's some kind of controversy to accompany it. This year we have iPhone 15 Pro overheating, easily cracked back glass, scratched titanium, and the Fine-Woven Case drama. However, how much truth is there to these issues? Should you be worried?

You have been fortunate with your device, whereas other people haven't. I just COULD NOT believe that a flagship device is developing screen burn in after three weeks. Or at least I couldn't until one of our two new IPhone 15 Pro Max has developed screen burn in off the keyboard on the device. After TWO weeks. Apple replaced the device. The second of our two handsets has been overheating when charging, which slowed down the charging to the point that the device was taking 3 hours to charge from empty. This unit has developed a rattling speaker also. The recent 17.0.3 update has not helped our overheating phone so this is being replaced sometime this week.
Many people have good quality handsets for sure, but both of ours were defective. Many people have the same kind of problems we do. We are not reviewers or influencers or people with an axe to grind against Apple. I hope your device continues to do you proud and that our two replacements do the same for our company.

@@neilmcguinness4422 unlucky I’d say . With any company and devices where they ship millions , there will always be small % of defects it’s a given and law of probability. Having two in one household even more rare. Luckily they replace them easily enough so all good

I just switched from the iPhone XR to the iPhone 15 Pro Max (1TB). During the updating/restoring, it was pretty warm. The next day, I was taking photos of alligators and squirrels (yes, Florida!) and it shut off on me at least 5 times because it was too hot. Updated to 17.0.3 the same afternoon, no problems since. Not even "warm". Just like nothing happened. And oh my my, that phone is so beautifully powerful, all the functions of the camera, and all. I am super

Using iOS 17.0.3 on my iPhone 15 Pro. Overall performance and battery have been great. I have not experienced any of the overheating issues that seem to have everyone so concerned. At this point, I have been curious if these initial reported issues were repeating or simply isolated to the set-up of individual devices.
My battery life has been good to great, ranging from heavy use to moderate activity.
My preference is with the size and pocket able 6.1" iPhone 15 Pro. I easily get an all-day battery with plenty to spare after a busy day.
I am enjoying the upgrade. So far, I have no regrets.

The heating issue was clearly a software issue and has been fixed. And I haven’t experienced any heat issues out of box.
Dropped it twice (yay) the day I got it while waiting for me case to arrive. Not one scratch, dent or break. Luck of the draw I guess!

I feel like the odd one out for really enjoying my iPhone 15 Pro. For overheating just update it to the latest iOS version, for back glass just put a case on it (I went with official Apple Silicon) and don't Hulk SMASH it like JerryRigEverything. Also the front glass is way stronger than back so just protect the back. My phone has been super solid and I use it a lot for gaming. It's amazing all around camera, phone, game device, GPS, and everything I need it for. That A17 Pro chip is actually insane. 19B transistors on 3nm process in a phone is overkill and I love it!

The only problem i noticed is that somehow i felt that the battery is being used up a lot and i think it’s because of the processor or better brightness but still on some days i have to charge my phone twice. I think because i only charge my iphone till 80 and around 8am i take it with me to school and don’t use it a lot just light scrolling and watching a few videos and a few low demanding games. Usually around 5-6pm my phone drops to 25% and now i am considering to optimize charge it till 100. I loved my old iPhones , so I bought the iPhone 15 pro max and IPhone 15 plus in Oct/23. Both have cracked screen in the first 2 months! I’m very disappointed that they are so fragile compared to my previous iPhones (6 & 11) that felt almost indestructible. 😢

A huge issue I have wih iPhones is that the 120 hz screen does not seem like 120 hz. I'd say it's 60 or 75 most of the time. I tried using my Aunts brand new out of the box 14 pro max. And it just seemed sluggish and stuttery. I thought, okay we just finished transfering all the data from her old phone to this one maybe something isn't okay. My best friend got a regular 14 Pro like 2 months after. And the exact same thing. It feels awful. After some time I went to my college from my old job and she had a 13 Pro max. The phone felt 3x smoother and faster. It was definitley as smooth as my S23 Ultra. But for some reason the newer models(I have not played with 15s yet) but they just do not feel as repsonsive for some reason. Hope that 15s do not suffer same issues but from what i've seen at around 6 minute mark when he agressively scrolls down it seems pretty bad too...

I regularly experience that when I read text from, for example, an advertisement on a browser, the text falls out of place. I also notice that I make many typing errors with a 6.1 screen, and a smaller screen is simply less attractive. for people with eye problems, and the battery is simply worse than the PM models..

Well I got one from an s21 ultra. Only took the leap I wanted a flat screen I broke too many a series. In many areas I felt took a leap backwards. Navigating on an iPhone is not fun. 5x camera is a few generations behind and closeups don’t focus well even vs my s21 ultra. I do like the flat screen yet makes it feel thicker. USB c was only reason I tried one. I don’t dislike it I just think isn’t near as easy to maneuver on apps and back and forward. I’ve upgraded every year since the 12. This will be the first year I don’t. The gaming features aren’t fully realized yet. The titanium is cool, but the steel somehow seems more robust. The sharper corners of the 12-14 probably help , but those curved edges are tempting. However, I’ve never had a problem gripping my iPhones since they became squared off. I don’t use a case, so the curved glass puts me off a little. I will skip all 15s, and I’ll check out the 16 and see what happens. Not mad that I’m saving money this year. And, honestly, the 14 Pro I’m currently rocking feels like the culmination of the evolution of the iPhone 12. 13 Pro may be goat tho. Bye

I’m the type to buy a phone and stretch it out as long as possible like my iPhone X the OG face ID 🤙. But now it is getting old and time for a new one. Now wen looking at phone I’m also looking at the company and there Business model and what Apple is doing using last year chip and not moving away from 60hz and limiting the USB C speed on their basic iPhone is starting to get to me !! 😒. I use my phone for filming video on my channel and I would have appreciated the faster transfer speed so I can move my files to my SSD!! Should you buy iphone15 if you have iphone 14? no, should you buy iphone 15 if you have an 4 years old phone? probably yes, I switched from my old samsung galaxy s10 plus and I am verry happy with my choice. Iphone 15pro has a newer gen of processor, so it will last me 1 year longer then a 14; I love the fact that is lighter, it feels so nice in my hand both because of this and the slightly rounded edges, I like the natural titanium color, and I don't have to carry 2 cables on me anymore (thanks EU), also the programble button is rather usefull (as, let's me honest, how many times you switch silent mode? most of us keep it on silent all the time). we should actually appreciate that the technology improves slightly every year, it means you don't HAVE to buy a new phone, AND that they do improve over-time, or what, people would be more happy with apple continuing to produce only iphone14 until they have enough changes to make a big jump?
PS: I didn't had issues with temperature, yes, it got a bit warm in the first day of use, or while charging and using it at the same time, but not burning hot. I used it withouth a case the last month and until now, no issues with durability, and I did drop it on the house floor one time, but I also bough the apple care for 2 years, so I can at least use it withouth a case in the next 2 years

A big thing to consider is scale. A 1% failure rate in a less popular phone means nothing but a 0.1% failure rate on something as popular as the iPhone is a huge deal. Millions more sold so there’s millions more defective units and in the age of the internet you only need a handful for people to rant and rave that the entire line is defective.
Apple is also held to a ridiculous level of scrutiny so it’s the perfect storm for what seems to be a software issue and likely some small rate of manufacturing defects. Mistakes were clearly made with the 15 pro but it’s not as big as media and influencers say.
