I'd say keep it, then rent it on Turo cheap so people who have never driven an electric car can see what they are like.
Actually this is a great idea, especially considering that Kyle says he doesn't use it very much.
"It's, I really think, one of my favorite cars I've ever owned." If you are still unsure look at the huge smile on your face as you drive around in it. It sounds like you might be a bit bored with it so, of course, go ahead with the mods. Have fun!
PS: I love seeing you have so much fun with a car!
Bought my Smart ED in 2015 used (2013 model), still runs fine, 107tkm so far, really like it. Theres is no reason to sell it, no service needed, insurance is
Is it a pain in the ass to charge it a lot?
@@felicityduijkersloot6043 No, it does not hurt. Full charge is 45min with 22kW. Usually 10-20min charge is enough, thats the time the car parks. Never had to wait for charging.
4:29 -- THIS. Also, put it on Turo for almost nothing and let people who haven't tried an EV have a go, they'll love it!
I concur; put it on Turo!!!
My 40kwh leaf has a 150 range and I already put 7500 miles on it in a little over 5 months and I’ve only used 110v charging at home, and it’s sufficient for 90% of my driving.
I see quite a few comments are by the "use and lose" mentality sector. If you love it, keep it.
Keep it! I own a 2019 smart fortwo EQ that I bought last winter. It is my first EV. Your videos with this very car were a factor in that decision over a used i3, so I am a bit sentimental about you and this car. Haha! I absolutely love my smart. When used as it was intended in city or urban areas, and for one or two folks it truly is smart. Running cost are almost nothing, and so fun to drive. I think part of the future mobility in dense city environments is electric small vehicles. It would be great to have someone in the US featuring a smart car project too. BTW I am in northern CO so hoping one day we will pass each other in our smarts!
What a great dog!!! So glad y’all kept him. Meanwhile, keep the car as well….too fun to give up.
Keep the smart it’s an iconic car and it’s perfect for small runabouts . You can do some small modifications too it without worrying
keep it, wrap it, play !! What is there to think about - it pulled a Landy out of mud ?!! Come on now !!! Love the channel and your other Out of Spec, brilliant content, thank you
Sure they can pull a big car, their torque is amazing!
Picked up our Fiat 500e about two years ago. 6000 bucks. When I’m driving around town, I always choose that over our model Y. Lots of fun…
I own this and have gotten 109 mile range regularly in warmer months by driving smartly. Can make it to destinations 50 miles away and back on a single charge.
Keep the Smart Fortwo, wrap it have fun with it I see the smile on your face let’s see some videos off road, Thank You!
My wife's smart is 20 years old and just keeps going! To be fair, my own smart was a lemon 😳
Wow! You took really good care of it. 👍🚗
Keep it!! It seems like a fun drive and the videos with it are enjoyable!
He is a good looking dog! I used to have a small body Prius that I loved. It wasn’t practical for a growing family, but if you don’t have the same practicality issue, I’d say keep it.
Keep it, I own and LOVE my 2015 Smart electric, I drive it for pennies to work and back for over 3 years now, it's my Daily and cost's hardly anything to own.
Keep it! You really seem to enjoy it! "A man is not better than his toys!" And it's a great toy!
I own a Hyundai Ioniq electric ⚡️ love it ❤️
Keep it as home battery storage in the future ..world s only cabrio ev ? Fun ! Try and add level 3 to it
Keep it. I'd love to see more videos on it
Sounds like you should keep it. You speak highly of it and your dog likes it!
Yes keep it! And definitely spice it up… can’t wait to see what you do to it
I would keep it, I love Smart cars. They are so fun to drive!
Keep it! It’s fun and quirky. It might fall into a VW Buggy category in the future.
Think ya otta keep it and mod to the max 😎😁
It’s a cool car plus you’re getting a great deal. I say keep it.
Yeah, keep it. Ideal for the city and short journeys, cheap to run, and built with safety in mind apparently. People often tow the ice versions behind their motor homes…you’d be allowed in any city in this electric, to do a bit of shopping and sight-seeing on trips.
Pretty obvious you love this car. Keep it.
Easy answer, Kyle - don't give up a fun vehicle that you and the dogs love so much, I assume Alyssa enjoys it also, and there aren't many convertible EVs on the road... Top down during a Colorado winter with parka, hats and mits, that's how we would roll in Canada! ☺️ Plus as others noted, it would be fun to list on Turo when you're not using it, and a great subject for future offroad videos
Keep it! It's still a car and brand from the future! I love my old Smart Fortwo cdi, even as a smelly old diesel...
Having been 4 wheels in the air on the motocross track (see the video) with this car, you need to keep it
keep it, looks like a sweet little car
I would definitely say keep it. I like the rap idea especially throwing some beefy tires on it and Just drive it around Northern Colorado maybe take it up in the mountains, the front range. If it was a little bit more reasonable I would totally buy it off you.
I owned a '09 smart fortwo cabrio edition (gas engine, ~ .9.liter displacement, I think), from new to 2016 (about 7 1/2 years). It easily met my expectations for fuel economy, about 40 mpg. Its ride bumpiness was no surprise, considering such a small wheelbase (and Chicago area roads). The only thing kind of disappointing, when in convertible mode with windows down and roof rails detached when there was any kind of crosswind, was that it got unusually windy for driver & passenger relative to other convertibles I've ridden. But overall, I'd buy it again - and if it were me leasing the electric, pretty sure I'd buy it out.
Keep it!! It's obvious you love the car!! 😊
Keep it. Super handy with parking. At least here in Europe 😬
I say keep it. Plus I've always said if you ever get rid of it to let me know - I love your smart car.
I'd keep it. Fun little car, can loan it out and keep people honest and local. put it on turo, if it pays for itself you've come out ahead.
I love the idea of having it for guests to use when they visit and also renting it out through Turo. Also, you can use to milk some content with the medications. If there was ever a time to buy a car at the end of the lease, it is in this current market so I say go for it.
I love this car!! I have the gas version. I never had the electric version before but I'm thinking of buying an electric version also. They don't make them anymore. What a shame. I've had the best fun and it's so easy to drive. If you don't keep yours, I will fly to Colorado and buy it. No lie!
Hey I’m trying to find a one owner Smart for two. What if any repairs have you had done. Thank you
None. Just brakes, change the oil and tires so far. I follow the maintenance guide. I love it!
It's the new body style, prime. Bought the car with 16k and the car now has 51k. Gas⛽️. Year of car is a 2016.
Love the smart! Maybe see how it compares to Mini SE? Love the idea of a cheap lease series.
Hoping you bought it. I LOVE mine. Look how happy you are in this video. How could you get rid of a car you can't help but smile when driving? And your companion seems to approve well enough. :D
Had a Scion IQ, love little cars, thinking about getting a 2018 Electric Smart myself, keep it!
What was the range Like in Winter? Usable at all? I'm in British Columbia, so the winters arent to bad!?
Hey I'm in Fort Collins! Just watched your Suburban video (we are in the market) and saw lots of familiar streets and you crushed it up Rist Canyon (we lived on Harvard for a bit). Anyway, keep it and bring it to SpeedPro for a wrap!
2023 and watching this. I have a 2015 smart Four Two and a Kia hybrid. I also live in colorado. I love my smart gas for in town Colo Springs driving. I also worked in Denver and lived 40 miles away and remember in summer it took 40 min to get to work, and a couple nights leaving work at 4,30. Pm and getting in my garage at 7pm because traffic is always backed up when it snows or rains. With a hybrid i got 51 mph since I was sitting and using my battery but would then charge, an electric is NOT something you want as a primary car in colorado
Keep it Keep IT!!
Keep it, you seem to really love it. Think you'll regret it if you return it.
Did you keep it? I love it
If you can afford to, keep it! I just traded in my smart 2008 for a VW ID 4. Honestly, I don't miss it as the ID 4 is amazing but it's at least 2 times as large and if I had the space/money to keep the smart, it would have been ideal!
I got my 2015 Smart ED for $6500 with 13k miles in 2018. Still drive it every day. It's awesome.
If you can afford it, I'd keep it as a extra and or store it because one day it will be well sought after.
This is a pretty cool car and I would say keep it. Buuuttttt, if you're thinking of getting something else, I would love to see you do a long term review of a ID.4, or the Mini Cooper EV. Maybe even the VW e-golf.
Hey I would love to know if you did anything to improve over performance like increase how many miles per charge also the power band for take offs etc??? I picked up a 2018 for two electric this month. I HOPE YOU KEPT IT!!!!
Keep it!!!
Just the best in the city Smart fortwo i love it
First of all, your Dog is the cutest. I hope you kept the car. i'm currently looking for that car. They are hard to find now. Did you spruce it up ?
What a cool giveaway! ...
I miss my ED.
If I'd gone for the convertible, I'd still have it.
I prefer the older body style.
Truro sounds like it might be interesting.
Keep it. Did you sell your i3?
Keep it, do more review on it
I'm also on my 2nd. Hoping you kept it. There still isn't anything comprable on the road in 2024. 8)
I think that it is a great car, so keep it and modify it to let us all see what it is capable of doing
Keep it, by the way Kyle; How tall are you? I’m asking cause I was considering a Model 3 and was wondering how comfortable I’ll be.
Keep it! I want one to drive around my area when the Tesla is overkill.
With those savings, keep it! Play about with it and have fun, why not!
Keep it. Love that car.
you should keep it
It really makes my Chevy Bolt look like a land yacht... :)
Keep it! I agree with others and say put it on Turo.
As a fun convertible city runaround that doesn't cost much, I would keep it. But can you get good money for it? Do you need the money for something, or the space it takes up?
It's a rather cheap lease which is running out (he said in this video). So he would not get money from it. He needs to pay something around 11.000 or 12.000 to buy it out of the lease to keep it.
Well if he has fun with it and can afford the money I would recommend to buy it out of the lease (at the end of the lease).
Defo keep it .o love your videos
So did you end up keeping it? Was it modified ?
if you like the car and it has decent range then keep it.
Keep it!
Awesome little car
I'm jealous.
My "new" 2006-vintage EV (and my first ever) has only 5.6 Horsepower, and a claimed range when new of 40 miles, on the lead-acid batteries. BUT, it cost me only $425, a month or so ago.
Keep it and wrap it!
I LOVE my 2014 Smart ED and YES KEEP IT and make it an overlander Nugget
Love those little cars your dog is big enough to drive id keep it dress it up would it be possible to add a extra battery in the trunk
The most underrated car in America!
I'd keep it; in fact, I wish I had one. 51 miles is more than enough range for a town car. I rarely put that much on my Tesla in a week. I'm looking for one or the BMW i3 because of size and town-utility. I wouldn't modify it.
Yes! Good car. It is necessary to put a power bank in the trunk and carry it. To charge. By electric car. You can drive from bed to kitchen. The efficiency factor is small. Doesn't compare to petrol. Might compare in the future.
I want one!!!! KEEP IT!!!
Idk if you decided to keep it or not. I had a 2016 smart 451 Ed zero problems and lease ended and got the new 2018 453 smart Ed. Almost 30k miles now and have had drive unit failure 2 times a $16k repair covered by mbz. My lease is up in September. I’m asking I guess a favor. I had my drive unit fail 2 times and trying to see if this is a common problem or just an isolated problem with mine. I love the car and would like to keep it or buy another lease return since smart left North America the end of 2019. Any help on this would be awesome and thank you 👍🏻
Not a Common Problem.
How about donating it to a charity like Meals on Wheels......it will be tax deductable for you and it will save the charity mucho bucks not having to buy fuel and maintenance?
Chiming in with another keep it comment! Put that wrap on and make it yours!
Nice Car but why keep it if not in use...
Keep it ,and wrap it ..it's cute
i should take one of these for driving licnese test :D
Keep it. !!
I drive smart electric often. Its fun. You dont get the compact cars from EU over there so keep it.
So What did you do ? Sell it ? Hopefully all the software updates got done! 🎊 🎉
Kyle: Is this a "TRICK-Question?"
I would have kept it until you said 15k to buy it out, thought these were cheaper tbh. do you get any electric incentives or was that already factored in
I wish these were still sold in NA.
Too small for most people. What is the crash test rating?
A very safe car, properly put together.
How is it in snow? In big puddles?
did you buy it off lease?
Where u buy it
If you don't use it , let someone use it
Ah, yes, more of the content I crave. HUGE dog in >tiny< car.
...I just wanna' snuggle with Appa.
keep using it until it breaks, of course.
I would buy it.
