I realize this is an older video.
Lots of varying opinions on spark plugs!
NGK makes a great spark plug and there is a version that is shorter than the standard plug (I can't remember the part number) to distance the wires from the headers.
Great content, always appreciate your efforts!

NGK UR4 or UR5 is what I found is short to clear headers for street driving. I've always liked NGK, grew up using them in quads and later on that's what I use for chainsaws when I used to port and modify them.

I use E3 spark plugs, best plugs I’ve ever bought, they’re pricey, but they really did good with my 388 build

Shade Tree Garage I might have to try them out next go around! I like trying different brands to see what works best.

E3's are not recommended in a nitrous application. That's where I'm headed with this junk in the near future.

I read long ago the best plugs for SBC were Autolight, Accel, & NGK. I’ve ran Autolight & NGK with no issues at all. Accel I’ve not personally ran, but all the reviews were good.

I had an old timer gearhead tell me to try Autolights 20 some years ago to get rid of the fouling I was having with AC Delco. Used the same heat range Autolights and never had an issue with them fouling until recently.

Accel U-Groove are Nippondenso and are the best plugs on the planet. ive run them (Nippondenso) in my 1985 GPz 750 turbo with 52 PSI @ the intake valve. Ive run them in Jetskis, 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and a ton of Chevy small blocks (Accel U-Grooves). My Monte Carlo SS is an 88 with 11:1 compression and I use Accel U-Grooves in it burning VP C10 fuel. Virtually every other brand plug i ran fowled or ran slower. My 89 Corvette has a fast burn ZZ4 with TPIs miniram and thats the only plug that engine has ever known.

Use acdelco plugs. At .045 gap. Best plugs for any daily driver sbc. Rc45ts IIRC

Hey bud love the channel.. I'm in the process of building my 86 c10 short bed.. cammed 305 also. Edelbrock rolling thunder cam, earson .600 lift valve springs, edelbrock preformer intake, edelbrock 1406 carb, headman competition headers.. she sounds great.. I've looked through your videos and I haven't found what your lobe separation is on your cam. It sounds like it's close to the 110-112° range

How are your valve seals? Replace the O-ring seal with a positive seal might help.

New o ring seals and umbrella seals when I had the heads off. The cylinders are wore out.

I use Lunati viton valve guide seals. Suzuki started using viton seals on the GS1000 way back in 1977 and the automotive high performance companies caught on in the early 90s with Joe Lunati being the 1st. He was a buddy of Willie Reeder the owner of Willies Cycle Salvage in Camp Hill Alabama and Willie got him going down that road with viton seals. Now everyone makes and uses them.

You could of also done the difference ÷110. Then convert to percent.
Is carb tuned right on that side?
    I'd just run AC Delco.

Carb tuning is real close. This motor is just wore out. Lol

Hey which Valve springs did you put in the 305? Were they off of Summit?
