CARBURETORS | How They Work
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 лип 2024
- The Carburetor was the #1 way engines mixed air and gas before the advent of fuel injection. With so many components working in unison, the carburetor can seem pretty intimidating, but fear not! Bart is here to explain the mysterious workings of the CARBURETOR.
Bart teaches us how cars work by blowing stuff up and cutting things in half. It’s a science show for the car lover who’s easily bored. Join Bart as he explains the science behind everything automotive. This is cars down to the atom. This is Science Garage.
Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

This is probably some real shit too to be honest.

I'm honestly a little scared how much I'm learning with these videos. They should be shown in school.
School is a actual joke lol you don’t start learning shit till college or trade school you forget literally everything after highschool
It's taught in school.
Yeah what class is that again?? These school comments are so played out it’s not even funny.
As a sixth form teacher, I show these in classes because I loved watching them in my free time in university haha

Bart, is everything alright at home?
Hasu yeah I noticed the decrease in excitement as well.

*Bart can’t wink*

Therefore the "brown" interior.
Probably the highlight of this video. I learned nothing else lol.

"I guess my car and my toilet have a lot more in common than just popping in both of them😐" 🤣
Really though just god damn
It would be kinda cool to see a video that explains why tread patterns on tires are the way they are. more or less breaking down which patterns are optimal for certain conditions and how they create grip. Maybe even going into compounds an the obvious chains and spikes and how they create grip.
Yes! Finally!! Now I want to see how 4WS steering works or even how the difference between a Centrifugal Charger and a Turbo
a centrifugal charger is a turbo thats not driven by exhaust gasses, but connected to the crank shaft. Its a mix between turbo and super charger
Centrifugal Charger is a compressor spins with a belt connected to the engine just like a blower, Turbo is the same compressor working with a turbine which uses exhaust flow to spin
4 wheel steering steering
They already explained this in the supercharger episode. Also mentioned in turbo episode
Four wheel steering steering
Can we get an episode explaining the lore of Donut Media and Bart? Why is there blood? Where are all these other Barts coming from? Why are there multiple Barts? Why does he talk to himself and break the fourth wall? Hotel? Trivago?
zZWiR3DZz I dont know man! Why is there blood!?! Why is Bart shitting in his car!?! 😱
Who is Mr. Carburetor, and why does he know where the blood came from?
Bart probably went crazy and killed his wife, and that's why he's so calm in the intro, maybe Mr. carburetor is a sign hinting an unstable mentality, idk I'm not a therapist.
OR he might be a horror movies fan... hhmmmmmmm?
Clones; there's always a lot of blood when you open a new clone. Bart doesn't remember just like you don't remember being born.
I watched less than a minute of this, and immediately subscribed.
I did the same lmao

I just bought a 260z yesterday, and this morning, it almost left me stranded since its having problem with a cold start... then I did some research and figured it could be the choke that's not working properly... then I realized I know nothing about a carburetor... then I watched this video, everything became clear. Carburetors were still being made in amarican vehicles after 91, my 98 ram is carbureted
@@rapidhorizon9872 About 1996 is when they were just dropped.
Because carbs are a lot more user friendly, especially on small, simple engines for lawn work. Imagine having to deal with injectors and worrying about electrical components beyond an ignition coil, spark plug, and kill switch on something like a mower or weed whacker. Not to mention the slightly less efficiency of a carb would be very negligible or not worth caring much for considering how much less we use the engines compared to our cars.
Yeah they are.
The first two will be all-electric inside of a decade. Especially the chain saw because two stroke engines pollute a lot.
The last one will likely be replaced with a battery itself for RV or general use and with fuel injection for the few industrial units that aren’t already (most of them are diesel).
The 1994 Isuzu Pickup was actually the last production vehicle to have a carburetor in the US.
No. Some motorcycles
America production vehicle. Isuzu isn't an American car manufacturer.
The last American production vehicle to have a carb was the 1995 Chevy C/K trucks

I hate that I have, until now, always thought the air to fuel ratio was measured in volume. That would never work since moles per volume of gasses changes with temperature and pressure..
Uriah Siner PV=nrT ideal gas law yo
Uriah Siner it could also be in terms of mass
way better on mas because you can actually balance the equations, since it preserve the same mass
Yes. That’s the reason we have to adjust the fuel mixture in aircraft as we climb even though the CFM and the suction remains the same.
