How we Prepare for a Big RV Trip

- We're heading on a big RV trip to the Canadian Maritimes. Before leaving, we had to prepare a new truck to tow our Montana Fifth Wheel, fix a tricky leak in the RV, add a new door lock, and then pack. Here's how we did it!

I tow a 30 foot Airstream Classic with a Long Bed Dually. After having rear blowout towing with only 2 wheels on the back I upgraded. Plus the stopping ability of a dually vs single rear wheel is soooo much better.

My State Farm insurance covered my repair for DEF in fuel for my F350. A similar situation pouring down rain and in a hurry.
You can download the manual in PDF format, upload it to Google or Apple and make it available for offline viewing. This way you can get to it even if you don’t have cell service. I do this with lots of manuals on both my tablet and phone.
Why didn't you get the 7.3 gas motor. 373 gears 10 speed transmission. They do a great job for fifth wheels under 15000 LBS
The tailgate step is an option
When we get home from a trip as soon as we turn the fridge off and empty it I put a couple of towels in the bottom to absorb any water and only leave it for a day, then wipe it dry and we always leave the doors open a little so air circulates and keeps it dry and never have a mold problem.
Mike, I had that exact same flexible drain tubing on my Aria motorhome. It leaked and I had it repaired both times but it kept leaking. General RV then sent one of their techs to a local boating store to ask about it because they heard that type of tubing was quite new to RV's but had been in use in boats for a while. When the tech showed a picture of the connection on my Aria to the repair person at the boat shop, he laughed and told them it was connected improperly. He then showed them how to properly attach it. Never had a problem since. Apparently that type of tubing is used anytime you have a drain in a slide out. It appears your washing machine is in a slide out? In my case, that tubing was the drain line for the toilet! I vowed I would never buy an RV that had any drain in a slide out. Now I have a Brinkley 5th wheel and have no drains or toilets in a slide out. I'm much happier not having to worry about toilet water leaking under our bed! Also, do you not find it easier to use the rear corner step bumpers to get into and out of your truck bed rather than having to use the little step ladder?

From a short guy that also carries a short Werner ladder to get in and out of my F-250. I bought a grab bar that hooks to the tailgate latch components that is easy on/off with no tools. A great safety item for us short old men. I got it from Amazon, and feel much safer getting down from the tailgate. Just saying…!
On my F150, the manual is in the entertainment system and should be available offline? I haven’t tested if I need to be connected to anything, but didn’t think so.
I haven't finished watching. Was wondering what are you doing with the Ford 250?

I do wish manufacturers would make all water connections easily accessible in install shut off valves at every one. That cannot be too hard to do or very costly. Personally, I would pay a little more for the convenience. Everyone knows water is a RV’s worst enemy.
Alliance has shut offs to kitchen, bathroom sinks and toilet, but not shower.
YEPPER, just download the manual to your cell phone in addition to , should already be on the truck computer
