@@thomasmcconway4988 wow if you think Selena Gomez is ‘mugged’ then you have really really high standards for how a women should look cause Selena Gomez is beautiful
selena and saoirse was such a great pairing. these two matched SO well, i love their energy. They shared amazing stories, inspiring stories, it all felt so real and they were so interested in each other. Truly a complimentary duo!!
this might be my favourite actors on actors. Both women expressed such raw emotions and showed such vulnerability. absolutely loved how seriously they took this and talked about real-world issues.
I feel the world has been too harsh on Selena, even when she has a huge fan base her haters are just too much, I'm glad seeing her growing up and being an amazing adult. It was a really nice pairing seeing two amazing women who were child actors sharing her experiences.
I think hate has to come with genuine intent to harm etc just saying and thinking she’s an awful singer and shit actress isn’t oh I hate her want her to die or something it’s just I think she’s shit at singing an acting
@@Shad0wdave777 sure and thats ur opinion but yall can be so hateful about it and wont ever shut up...we get it you dont think she can act and sing move on already and stop harassing her on social media
I’m actually really glad that Variety didn’t go down the “obvious” route of pairing Saoirse with Mescal given the friendship those two have and then Selena with Ariana given their backgrounds. I’m not assuming it was discussed to do that but if it was I’m glad they did it the way it is now.
people were so quick to judge this pairing with the whole 'how could they do saoirse like that' discourse, but we can see here there really is a mutual appreciation of one another, alongside the fact this was a really genuine and enjoyable conversation. while selena isn't at the same level as saoirse yet (acting career wise), saoirse was so interested and invested in selena's story! what a nice watch
That's exactly why people were hating on it. It's a dumb reason that people started to hate it before even watching it just because Selena's acting resume doesn't meet Saoirse's acting resume. I think they were a pretty good pairing. I did think it was going to be emotional
This was one of my favorites. They're so respectful of eachothers careers without being just annoyingly admiring the other for the camera. This was such an honest conversation and they have very similar careers. I also really appreciate them acknowledging their own weaknesses and the others strength. Saoirse fully recongized Selenas music career and acknowledged that she herself isn't as qaulif8ed or talented in music as Selena. And conversely Selena recognized Saoirse has admittedly had a more profound acting career than herself. Like don't get me wrong, Wizards was iconic and Selena has done some amazing acting roles, but I do think Saoirse has had much bigger roles than Selena. Great interview between two incredible talents in the industry
selena is so beautiful and classy, such a unique soul. she's very talented, i wish she had more confidence in herself. saoirse is also amazing. i love this duo!!! ♡
I adore selena but i feel she’s started to lose confidence in herself which is a bit sad cos she was literally THAT girl in her prime, strong, bold and was not afraid to do anything. Now I hardly see her hype herself and she talks as if she isn’t good enough. Plus 32 isn’t even old at all. Half of the artists are in their 30s. Look at her best friend Taylor who’s older but still striving and constantly is on tours. Hope her confidence returns because she’s doing so amazing lately, I mean she’s now a billionaire, is an owner of a huge successful makeup/skincare brand, working several different projects in a year I mean she’s doing amazing. I do hope she still sings alongside acting as she’s good at both!
I first saw Saoirse in Lady Bird and have since watched quite a number of her movies. I love everything she does, through and through, and I believe I'm not the only one. I didn't grow up with Selena because of life circumstances (we mostly watched Nickelodeon), but I still understand and appreciate her impact on our generation worldwide (I'm Kenyan). This is such a heartwarming pair; I'm grateful.
Saoirse is the best actress under 40, and it's not even close. She's incredible. I've not seen Selena's new movie, but I find her very charming in interviews. She's been through a lot and is very open about it, and I find that so admirable.
i love that she admits that her family from her father side is from Mexico. I think I met her cousin Pricilla she was with Selena at a charity event years ago.
I speak Spanish so I know it wasn't fantastic. She was speaking gibberish and her acting was off because she had no idea what she was saying. She got someone bullied for simply expressing their opinion on a performance which they have a right to do. It's what critics have done since the the beginning. But apparently now actors can cry about it and be babied.
@@evap.5121 She had a script she followed and she also has an accent. Is this a problem? Not everyone will speak all languages like a native. The soundtrack composers have even said that the TEAM preferred her to keep her American accent to also keep Jessi more authentic, including in Jessi’s songs. They also said it would bring American-Mexican characteristics to the… Character. I mean, anyone who actually watched the movie will notice this. She also auditioned for the role and got it because of Jacques's choice. She was never flattered. She herself says that with more time she would have practiced even more, but she did the best with the time she had. All the actors and others involved in this industry recognize her work, while some random people want to make criticisms that are not even constructive.
@@evap.5121 oh sorry I didn’t know I was watching a Spanish language class. Next time I will make sure to study Spanish poetry before hand. Get out of my mentions with your weird obsession with Selena
dont know what people dont understand about Selena's character?. she's an American married to a cartel leader. who lives in Mexico. thats why she speaks like that in the movie. most Americans who live in Mexico or any latin country or caribean country dont speak the laguage fluently.
In fact, she was following the script. The point is: she has an accent. No big deal. Spanish isn’t my first language and I also have an accent. English isn’t my first language and I still made some mistakes. Not everyone will speak all languages like a native. The soundtrack composers have even said that the team preferred her to keep her American accent to also keep Jessi more authentic, including in Jessi’s songs. These were their words. As the character is a North American who does not have Spanish as her first language, it really brings more authenticity. They also said it would bring American-Mexican characteristics to the character. I mean, anyone who actually watched the movie will notice this.
The problem is that it was automatically assumed that Selena's character was going to be fluent when, from day 1, it was announced that her character barely spoke it and was the from states. It's also the fact that people hate Selena for no reason. Literally, different fanbases started to give it bad reviews just because Selena was in the movie. Eugenio, as entitled to his opinion he is, he embarrassed the hell outta her. He could've given his opinion to her when he went to the premiere or in private & now the whole internet is just attack mode even more than usual.
I'm guessing you don't speak Spanish or you are a diehard fan. This is not how someone speaks if they are learning Spanish. She was speaking unintelligible words and mindlessly repeating lines. She did not know what she was saying. There was a scene where Karla Sofía Gascón responds to her as if she understands what she said, but what she said was gibberish, like when you blurt something out that sounds like a certain language to those who don't speak it but it meant nothing in Spanish. Seeing this scene was unreal. Hollywood is a joke.
The problem is not Selena having an American accent. The problem is, script wise, her spanish is as fluent as Zoe’s or Karla’s. If the character was supposed to not be fluent, then Jessi’s lines should have been written differently. Plus, Selena wrongly over enunciates certain words, like she’s trying to sound like a fluent speaker and that makes it obvious she’s not. It’s also distracting if you understand spanish, it takes you off the movie. She also sounded like she learned her lines phonetically, instead of really understanding them. Honestly, it would have been way better for the movie and easier for Selena if Jessi struggled more with Spanish and said more lines in English.
I'm going to need the Goldenglobes and The Academy to go on timeout until Saoirse Ronan gets her respect 😔 I think this was the best pairing for Actors on Actors this year.
