@TheIcedCoffeeHour you know who else was a Harvard psychiatrist MD. Ph.d Joesph Biederman, person migrated from Europe to Argentina with his family around 1945 as a baby then became a Harvard professor great documentary referencing him on 60 minutes years back, he's responsible for cosigning psychiatric prescription use in children and 2 year olds, the title was called Rebecca Riley, she would have been 21years old. Just learned the scu_ ba_ Biederman died in January 2023 too bad he deserved to spend years in prison with the inmates knowing who he was and what he did.

This podcast was honestly incredible, even had me taking notes and wondering a lot, I can't believe I watched all pretty much in one sitting, I was too interested, I've watched Dr. K's videos before but a lot of the questions and topics you guys touched on were on point and actually very relevant in my life, and I'm sure a lot more people. I'd like it if you'd invite Dr. K back and expand on awareness, and techniques to discover insights within yourself and kind of build onto that
Part 2 of what? Getting ahead of 99.9% people? So that means all of the viewers who are watching it in HOPES of being that 0.01% are betting on succeeding with these odds? With these probability? Have you seen anybody ever successfully working to be that 0.01%? if it is yes? Then what are we? What are the rest of us? If all of us can be that 0.01%, NON OF US CAN EVER BE. I laugh at the futility of people's will to have everything, AND FAILING IN DOING SO. 😅.
@@words007 there is nothing wrong with failing. also if from all of the conversation you just come up with the idea of getting ahead of 99,9% of people it indicates its the only think that matters to YOU alone. bad assumption.

One of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever heard. Wow. Dr. K is brilliant. Not only an excellent scientist but also open minded due to his training as a monk. He recognizes the limits of modern science and that’s beautiful. It’s also amazing that he recognizes their is evidence for karma, rebirth, etc, while maintaining a healthy skepticism.
One of my favourite interview and one of the best guest speaker ever! I love how engaged you both were in the discussion, especially Jack's curiosity and neverending questions. Hope to see more great stuff like this!
I have watched 100s of podcasts, whether it’s Joe Rogan, Chris Williamson, Steven Bartlett, Jordan Peterson, Simon Sinek etc. This is my first time watching The Iced Coffee Hour, and is hands down the best podcast I have ever seen. Thank you, Dr. K, Graham & Jack, for a conversation that hit all the important topics I resonate with.
I've been watching Dr. K for years and I've also been learning about finance and watching Graham for nearly the same amount of time. This was genuinely one of the best podcast interviews ever. You could tell that Dr. K really connected with you both and was willing to dive in deep quickly in a way that he normally does not with most people. It would be amazing to have a part 2 and see where it takes you all.
The discussion about being a Vata with Jack was actually really relatable for me and gave me so much to think about. I've been watching Dr. K occasionally since about 2020 and I think this has been one of my favorite discussions. Please do another!
Dr. K really hit the nail on the head when it comes to creating meaningful and impactful relationships. It's amazing to see the number of people my age (28) that are not willing, or ready, to put in the work to outlast the honeymoon phase. It's like the moment conflict crops up people run for the hills. In reality, it's through conflict that we learn the most about others and ourselves. I don't want a partner that agrees with everything I say, I want a partner that challenges me while wanting the best for both of us. There are uncomfortable moments that come with that, and they are worth it It's also really nice to see Jack and Graham openly talk about their platonic love for one another, it was moving to see two male figures not shy away from such a healthy display of comradery. Much respect 💯 Part 2 for sure
this is my first full episode experience of the iced coffee hour and I love how they just listened for nearly 3 hours and spoke minimally Throughout there own podcast. Love Dr k, Love stephen. excited to get to know jack in another episode
I usually find it so difficult to sit through long videos but I was so invested in everything you guys were discussing, thank for the great discussion, part 2 would definitely be appreciated 🙌🏼
The first part of this conversation and EQ and different measures besides IQ helped me learn so much about myself and not beat myself up over dropping out of college 10 years ago since I had no study habits and raw intellect that was unfocused
Totally agree I'm kind of still in the early parts of this I'm probably an hour and a half in but yes that was.... It just told me a lot about myself as a younger person that I spent a lot of time beating myself up over:)
I dropped out of school, never enjoyed school, thought it was pointless and boring. Taught myself most of everything I know on my own. Never could study until I learned how to study. I also never felt I could fit into society and the typical 9-5 life. I just stay in my own lane as an entrepreneur. Things like this 100% resonate.
I started to cry listening to it.. It was very obvious to me and everyone around me something was different, and every adult thought I would change the world or smt, and once I didn’t (because I couldn’t even finish school), it was hell on earth for too long to not leave scars.. Suddenly I had no discipline and no will, and this kept on going until I was somehow more tired of being broke than living, and I had to come up with a solution asap. I now have my own company that brings me more money than I need but _only_ because I wouldn’t be accepted in any so I literally had no other choice but to make one myself, which is hilarious but I can’t help but only feel heartbroken about what I went through and what so many people are going through right now because they don’t have the right guidance.. I hope the way we teach kids now will absolutely shock society in the future the same way it shocks us to see how mental hospitals were before.
Dr. K is my favourite online person of all times. He talks about heavy topics without draining and tiring people. It is always such a pleasure to listen to him. It's the first time I've come across your channel and you guys were awesome as well. A small viewer note: It is the personal elements of this conversation that made this episode epic.
I see this guy on my suggested videos all the time. He is literally blowing my mind. Same thing happened to my childhood, homeschooled, skipped multiple grades, I never learned to study. Luckily ended up with high EQ and I can never understand why people can’t read the room. The self awareness of people continues to blow my mind.
I straight up FELT the disappointment in Dr. K's voice when the subject shifted from his encapsulating story of self discovery on to the Tantric stuff and we never got to let him elaborate on it.
That was so stupid he was going to drop some real enlightened shit and then these guys started talking about edging. These guys should stick to basic finance dude interviews they kept interrupting him right when he was gonna drop some wisdom.
This information feels illegal to have for free. By far is one of the most valuable things I have come across on UA-cam. First time watching the podcast and must say the value is insane. Dr. K's speaking fee must've been huge. Thousands of dollars of therapy and self discovery in a 3 hour podcast.
Incredible episode. Glad he came on the show. I discovered him by way of his “former gifted kid” video. I cried pretty hard. It’s been a hard life, and harder 5 years. Woof. I was not ready for THAT enlightenment. I have embraced it and laughed at the memes now. I’m back in school. Like so many, around the 30’s you reconsider. I’m happily on that journey into IT. I’m learning how to learn, post-concussions, now with crazy ADHD, lots of sickness that’s only just now under control as of November. 5 years of pain, sickness, left my career as a band director. It’s been hard. A life not worth living. But I’m starting to see the light again. And people like Dr. K are helping me get through! Thank you, Dr. K for your work online. ( in case you read any comments) You give us so much time, content, wisdom and knowledge!!
The gifted child being special needs is so accurate. My youngest brother was NOT easy and had some behavioral issues as a child. He’s gifted though. Top of class, just recently graduated masters in AI. He’s way smarter than any of us siblings, but was way harder to deal with as a child than any of us. He’s doing phenomenal now as an adult 👍
This is such quality content graham. I started watching your main channel in 2019 and I gotta say that info was super helpful, but today, it's the iced coffee hour that provides soooo much value. so much....
Appreciate so much of what Dr. K has to offer. Impressed with how Graham and Jack handled the little moments of disagreement. Watching people's body language change during these moments was the coolest part of the whole interview. Want to see more for sure!
This was probably the best podcast I’ve seen y’all do so far! Part 2 please 🙏🏿 haha would love to hear Dr. K dive deeper into meditation and relationships!
Didn't even know about these guys, but I clicked because of Dr. K, very, very good video, had a lot of fun watching, I would love to see a part 2 or even 3 with deep dives into both you and more questions.
DEFINITELY need another one from him! So many of the guests that we see on podcasts are great but many kind of overlap in alot of ways. I really feel like Dr K has an insightful perspective that you can't get anywhere else.
what i love about this interview is that the audience and even when you look throughout this video on the hosts faces is that nobody knows what to say. nobody can say anything without sounding arrogant or not intellectually aware enough to combat what he says. he didn’t dominate the conversation they just listened. they were stuck in their thoughts, in their head while simultaneously trying to understand his words and also perhaps rejecting his words. yet we all stayed and were mentally capable enough to just hear him out for 2 hours straight. and he came from such a neutral standpoint that it is hard to disprove what he’s saying and it made sense. unless the audience had questions of their own or disagreed what have you, his point still stood and he still came out on top. he was the only person where i was able to put my opinions to the side and learn. and i think we all have the privilege to understand him, let alone hear him speak.
Ive watched dr k for years and even done a few of his programs, but your interview questions opened up a personal side of him that ive never seen. Incredible guest, but the interviewers are amazing too. Y'all asked all the questions in my head
I never watched you guys before but your guys friendship and exploring that throughout this podcast - especially nearing the end on how much you gushed to each other - is honestly very sweet. That's genuine friendship seeing how comfortable you guys are saying all that stuff, especially with a lot of glee
1:07:12 This is one of the most incredible things ever said on a podcast. That amount of insight and understanding of the human condition of suffering is priceless!
If you haven't checked out Dr. K yet, you'll find so many more incredible insights, he truly is the most impactful person I've watched on the internet. If you want to be entertained as well, check out his interviews with content creators, checkout the ones with creators you know first.
@@jimbow25 To some people it’s common knowledge, and to some people it’s not, that is the beauty of people sharing knowledge with each other. Hopefully someone out there that needs this advice or insight will hear what Dr. k said and it can help them change their lives for the better.
@@pinefilms3141I agree it's priceless information, but I think what OP is trying to get at is that Dr.K would never title one of his own videos like this, nor do I think he would frame people as being "ahead" or "behind" others. Just that we are different, not better or worse and not that we need to beat people like the title implies.
You guys KILLED it with this episode. You guys asked the best questions and had great chemistry with Dr K I’ve listened to a lot of interviews with Dr K and this one by FAR is the best
What I enjoyed most about this video was watching 3 individuals who each are in such a different mental headspace interacting to try to come together mentally. I also noticed the last 20 minutes Graham was mentally checked out and exhausted. I already subscribe to the HealthyGamerGG channel, but this kind of converaation was way more interesting than his normal channel. I enjoyed this group discussion more.
i watched so many dr k videos and they are nice and informative but i love this one right here the most, because in human interviewing and dialogue is such an amazing part of mental health and you guys asked interesting and on the nose questions, love it
I will add that your reference to gifted kids as special needs is spot on. I have actually used that terminology in various settings. And yes, my kids also lack study habits for the reasons mentioned. My son would report that he would ace the math pretests without previous exposure to the concepts, which puts him in a position of boredom while the concept is taught. He had a very hard time making friends for years because he thought on a totally different level than kids his age. A lot of these children turn to drugs like marijuana just to numb their brains so they can fit in better.
It's especially hard for me and others I've found like me to connect to most people. It's very isolating. Having someone that can keep up/understand the things that interest us is difficult. It's incredibly exciting when you find someone who can though. Thank you for sharing your experience.
This conversation made me subscribe.. I'm a HUGE FAN of Dr. K and seeing him outside of his own format makes me so happy and I learned so much! I LOVE YOU ALL
This was incredible from start to finish. Honestly, I'm currently in a strange mental state where I feel as though I have learned so much about how to explore myself and my mind. Please invite him back, I'd love to hear more about awareness - exploring self. As well as the path to be taken when you get distracted by those desires. The process surrounding realising the desire is there, the awareness of it - and then following that train of thought to deciding on the next action to take. Thank you so much
I love how DR. K saw Jack trying to creat a moment about Stephan, and instead turned it around and made it about him, you can tell Jack was not expecting that and was being truly challenged
Go to his website, he has an entire pick your own path module where you can find what meditation suits you and in general just study about how it works. It's like 20 USD for the meditation and then the entire Anxiety, Depression ADHD and Meditation module cost 60 bucks. Haven't bought it myself because too expensive for my economy but it's recommended by a majority of the people who buy it. You could also just head to his UA-cam channel. Literally over a thousand videos with more in depth lectures and interviews.
I have NEVER watched a 2+ hour UA-cam video in its entirety but it's Dr. K going off the riff and dropping his wisdom so now I'm done with this video and want more. Thank you for having him on!
UA-cam Served this to me and I was neither a sub to either your channel or Dr. K's and I immediately subbed to both. So much value and thought provoking content Thank you. I hope for a pt. 2 at some point.
As an ex heroin addict, Dr. K really hit the nail on the head at 1:07:00(ish). I hadn't been identified as autistic yet and trying to survive was killing me, but in that moment, it all fell away. It was all...fine and okay. I've always tried explaining it, but never could get the wording right. This was phenomenal.
Man, I've been depressed for years. I smoked weed for a long time and when I smoked it was from about 9pm to 3am every single night. When I was smoking that was when I was feeling the best in my life. As I've grown older and stopped smoking I've become far more aware of the areas in my life where I'm a failure and it has been weighing down on me ever since. I went from being an advanced kid in school to barely finishing my associates degree because of poor stress management to dropping out of 4 universities due to an inability to accept teachers presenting incorrect information or even requesting clarification on information being presented in a way that I was not familiar with. If I found out that I was autistic today, I'd probably go home and down an entire bottle of whatever I had in my medicine cabinet. I have gone from one of the kids in my high school with the most potential to a loser dropout making good money that can't even make ends meet; if someone told me it was a problem with me at a foundational level, I don't think I could continue living my life as a burden to others. It just isn't in my coding to be someone that can't fend for himself.
@@deltacharlieecho4732 I’m 13 years clean, working in top level management at my job, in a career that I love, going back to school(at the behest of said company) and maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and absolutely killing it. This interview is awesome (I'm only half way through it). This Psychiatrist is fascinating to listen to, I literally started taking notes pretty early on. You guys asked great questions, and I appreciate the visual assists (like when Samskara was mentioned at 1:29:32 and there's a definition dropped in, those have been so useful). I'm having to listen with a couple sitting sessions but the concepts being brought up are pretty damn interesting. Edit: Got to the end, would love a part two.
Definitely one of my favorite episodes. I loved the two of you talk and hearing Dr K easily talking with you guys was amazing. I always have questions like you did but always fear that I would come across annoying but Dr K being so open to the discussion, it makes me feel like i can connect with him and take in his advice more. You should definitely do a part 2, I would love for it to be on things like helping one finding the right doctor for themselves, more specifically like Dr K as his videos are always great and can connect with. Other than that, im sure you guys will come up with great ideas too.
The discussion around dating was SO good, thanks for this interview - love Dr. K! What was said about dating apps and everything around that, pinpoints exactly what I was trying to understand why I hate the apps so much. I had deleted all dating apps long ago, and just absolutely hated them - this helped me see WHY I hated them.

This was awesome to watch. I watch a lot of Dr. K, but this has really helped me see more of the end game for asking all the questions. The closing your eyes method really helped put things into perspective. Also I liked the idea with why some people are all over the place with their ability to pay attention and need to have multiple challenging things happening at one time to really grow.
I know most people probably want the science but please talk more about the karma and eastern mysticism and esoteric stuff next time it really makes so much sense to me but he seems hesitant to give us those esoteric gems or more on doshas would be awesome. That is where I find the most value in this. Calling out vata traits vs others helps so much in understanding myself and others.
This was fantastic! I watched from start to finish without stopping - and I usually don't watch three hours of content. The most significant insight was about awareness and how it is at the root of everything. If we learn to master it, we can change anything about ourselves. Also, I loved how the amount of focus is correlated with happiness. Thank you for this podcast - I would love to see part 2.
Please bring him back. I would love to dive into why so many married people are on dating apps or other secret apps. Why do people turn to their phones instead of their significant others? Also, how meditate through a career change. You two are awesome! I watch all of the time, and I didn't realize I wasn't subscribed, so I am now subscribed. I am probably not your normal demographic as I am a 55-year-old woman. Lol.

He is pretty great. Awesome resource for the world.

We definitely need another episode with Dr. K. This was without a doubt my favorite episode on the podcast, I’ve learned so much.
One of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever heard. Wow. Dr. K is brilliant. Not only an excellent scientist but also open minded due to his training as a monk. He recognizes the limits of modern science and that’s beautiful. It’s also amazing that he recognizes their is evidence for karma, rebirth, etc, while maintaining a healthy skepticism.
what evidence?

This was one of the most eye opening and insightful podcasts you guys have done to date. PLEASE DO ANOTHER PODCAST WITH HIM. GREAT EPISODE.

There are uncomfortable moments that come with that, and they are worth it
It's also really nice to see Jack and Graham openly talk about their platonic love for one another, it was moving to see two male figures not shy away from such a healthy display of comradery. Much respect 💯
Part 2 for sure

This was the first Iced Coffee Hour I watched, love Dr. K's content, and watched the whole 2:46:01 of this pod, it was great!
Don't believe him.i m an Indian so I Know dis tantrik stuff is a lie.tantrik yog is ancient and now extinct in India.
Yeah after that he started calling the host's bro...
These people aren’t bright enough to understand Dr.K

I was in the gifted program and just found school torturously and mind-numbingly boring.

Im only 35 minutes in, and I am LOVING this conversation! Awesome seeing this collab between my favourite creators!
Glad you enjoy it!
what i love about this interview is that the audience and even when you look throughout this video on the hosts faces is that nobody knows what to say. nobody can say anything without sounding arrogant or not intellectually aware enough to combat what he says. he didn’t dominate the conversation they just listened. they were stuck in their thoughts, in their head while simultaneously trying to understand his words and also perhaps rejecting his words. yet we all stayed and were mentally capable enough to just hear him out for 2 hours straight. and he came from such a neutral standpoint that it is hard to disprove what he’s saying and it made sense. unless the audience had questions of their own or disagreed what have you, his point still stood and he still came out on top. he was the only person where i was able to put my opinions to the side and learn. and i think we all have the privilege to understand him, let alone hear him speak.
This was very insightful. Please have a part 2, 3 and 4! If Graham is open to it I’d love to hear Dr. K deep diving into his psyche too!
Yes pls😊

I never watched you guys before but your guys friendship and exploring that throughout this podcast - especially nearing the end on how much you gushed to each other - is honestly very sweet. @@pinefilms3141I agree it's priceless information, but I think what OP is trying to get at is that Dr.K would never title one of his own videos like this, nor do I think he would frame people as being "ahead" or "behind" others. I’ve listened to a lot of interviews with Dr K and this one by FAR is the best
I enjoyed this group discussion more.

ive seen all of collabs with Dr K and while they are all great on their own this was without a doubt THE BEST! loved this episode!

This was amazing - 1st time in my life to ever sit through a nearly 3-hour long podcast all in a single session
