For an almost 84 year old who have watched so many podcast since rwo years agao, this one so refreshingly spontaneous and very educational on many levels.. you three restore my faith in the yonger generations. God bless you three and thanks a lot for the vicarious highly enjoyable conversation.

Graham is too cheap for that
Right lol

right!! It's like when they don't have wine on the Wine About It podcast episodes 😂
I met Mikhaila randomly the night before seeing Dr. JP on his book tour. She’s as cool as she seems. She even agreed to play a game of skee ball with me.

Jack's character development is great.
Medical Injury Death is not talked about enough. My mom cared for a man who was in his 90s, despite his age doctors pushed him to get a colonopsy that he did not want. He was injured during the procredure and died a few days later.
Of course they gave a refund for the botched procedure, and didn’t charge a penny for trying to resolve the complications, right? This lack of accountability makes me think medical field is rife with corruption.
@@timreinagel9113 From what I've been told because of his age they consider it a "complication". So I doubt the hospital will claim responsibility for tearing his bowel. Worst part is the man didn't even want it done, doctors pushed him 😞
@@sabretoothlover101 I am so DONE with thinking of the medical INDUSTRY as being compassionate. Of course they would show no compassion. At his age, they had No BUSINESS pushing him to have such a procedure. In my opinion, they were simply milking his insurance by scaring him into a useless procedure…. God forgive us and deliver us from such evil.
Disclaimer: I realize there are good people in the industry. The bad people use them as a front to further their own purposes.
@@timreinagel9113 I completely agree with you and thought the same thing about his insurance. Because realistically if they did find colon cancer, at 90yrs old I doubt he would survive the treatment. And if he did survive would it be worth spending his last years undergoing painful treatments?
@@sabretoothlover101 wow, tearing how bowel, I didn't know that was possible because I have an acquaintance who does colonics
I love to hear someone acknowledge how bad the canadian healthcare system is, I feel so gaslit by healthcare workers because there is no acknowledgement of how much pain and suffering they neglect people into
I think it's healthcare in general. There certainly isn't anything unique or special about healthcare in Canada. Doctors everywhere just can't devote the time it takes to properly assess and treat their patients.
Canadian Healthcare is dangerously incompetent. They will ignore things and accuse patients of coming in for no reason to cover the fact that they cannot provide adequate testing and care for the patients.
It's definitely not just a Canadian problem, it's worldwide.
Husband and I have been on the carnivore diet for 100 days and have never been healthier. He is off cholesterol meds and now starting to get off of his BP meds. He is down 40 lbs and I am down 25lbs. Inflammation is gone!
I have been thinking about it for years. I have never done it. I am so addicted to carbs & dairy. I imagine there will be withdrawal. your comment is inspiring. I might do it. (but not forever)

I asked smart neighbors how are X-rays made? I knew, but wanted to see if they did. Unfortunately, they did not know, so I told them. I am constantly learning new engineering, chemistry, physics, computer science, economic, history, and legal things every day or so. What she says about depression vs being sad is so true, I was in a situation a few years ago where one of my parent's died, i had no friends living anywhere near me, i was eating bad, i wasn't exercising, i was in the worst shape of my life, i was in a terrible work situation, and when i went to a therapist i got diagnosed with depression and i believed it and i was put on anti depressants. Knowing what i know now and looking back i was not clinically depressed, i was sad because my life was shit. The thing standing between me and happiness was NOT medical treatment, it was making my life better. therapy and anti depressants was nothing but a shitty band aid, what actually made my life better was making friends, exercising, eating right, getting a better job, etc.
If you're in a shitty situation and you think you're depressed there's a pretty good chance that you're actually just very sad because of your shitty situation. Real depression is a medical problem and requires medical treatment, being very sad because your life is shitty is a problem with your life and requires making your life better.
I tend to believe most people nowadays who think they're depressed are in the same situation i was in.
Main takeaway from this - if things in your life getting better would make you happy then you're not depressed, you're just sad, you don't need medical treatment, you need to make your life better.
I agree I've heard many people say If I can take a pill to make me happy why not.
@@Methose the correct answer to that in my opinion is because that only treats the symptom, not the problem, and if you ignore the problem and only treat the symptoms then the problem will get worse. if you’re not actually clinically depressed then medical treatment is nothing more than a shitty band aid. the easy way is almost never the right way. taking a pill is easy. making friends, exercising, eating right, that’s hard.
The ability to self analysis is important. That happened, still happens at times but I have my "Method" to get it off
I LOVE your podcast and this one has been one of my favorites!! I have POTS, mast cell activation syndrome, and chronic fatigue that activated after Covid!! It’s truly destroyed my life. It’s def NOT a placebo effect when your heart rate goes to 200 out of nowhere, blood pressure drops, severe heat intolerance, rashes, throat closing after certain foods. I am going to try to do meat only and see what happens. Thank you Mikayla for speaking out on autoimmune diseases. Our doctors and community NEED to listen. POTS and dysautonomia alone alone are destroying so many lives and causing suicides everyday because there aren’t answers.
So cool to see my two worlds cross over in the one video! Mikhaila is amazing and her sharing her health testimony changed my life. Went carnivore, changed my health and life forever. Very grateful for her!
I love Mikhaila and her dad. She seems like such a beautiful soul. I could listen to her dad for hours and have done that many times. God bless them both and their entire family.

I have struggled against depression for 28 years. My first full body panic attack was at age 6. I was in and out of the hospital and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. Been on and off meds. The system is so so so broken.
How are you doing now? Have you tried elimination diet?
It's only recently that I realized it could be so connected to diet! (I discounted that in the past because I eat so "healthy"-- lots of fresh veggies, fermented foods, meat) But I am going to do a reset with carnivore and then add back in other foods.
I also am starting emdr so hopefully that makes a difference too. I'm throwing spaghetti at the wall at this point. I have no ego tried to what ends up working haha

My crippling mental illness was cured by a road trip. Getting out of the hectic city allowed my nervous system to rest. Learned environment was causing mine. Since then my main healing strategy has been calming the nervous system. Listening to classical & opera walking barefoot in the forest taking in the movement of the trees then eating teff for lunch 😂 a few years ago I was living in one of the largest city listening to metal driving 95 mph eating hot dogs.. Boy how things have changed. ♡♡♡ I feel your pain and wish I could give you the biggest hug in the world, sweets ♡♡♡
Yes the system is broken. I experimented with a thousand different healing ideas n strategies before one worked. Keep going ♡ Peace is around the corner ♡ besides Einstein failed 399 times before the light bulb was invented ... or was that tesla. 😅.. idk. Either way- one of the great inventors of history tried & tried & tried for years and years knowing it would happen- and it did ♡
The 1st thing she described sounds like anxiety, I’ve never heard of hyper vigilance being associated with depression
I love the Petersons. I've had a lot of arthritic pain and mood improvements with carnivore. It's very hard for me to stick to because as she said, the sugar addiction is no joke. But I do try to focus on a meat heavy diet and feel better for it.

1:41:00 - yup. The not needing someone but wanting a partner was where I was at and wanted to be at before dating. That, and super sensitive to weird-vibes kept me from dating until college. Wasnt worried about money- had worked all through HS and had a good savings built up. Definitely helped me be less nervous of the future and unsure of myself. I knew I could work. If I didnt have that confidence idk if that would've changed when/who I got married to, but wouldve felt more stress for sure.

I really wish they would give a much better introduction to the guests. I don't know most and all we get is a name at the beginning.
They did she is Jordan Peterson daughter.
I Goggle the name, it helps a lot.
I noticed that- a bit strange, but at the same time, I wonder if it keeps people from bailing so quick if they dont know who it is vs someone their "side" deems as evil and untouchable lol
I wish Joe Rogan would do the same
She’s Jordan Peterson’s daughter. She’s been sick her whole life. Had both hips replaced by the time she turned 18. Started eating only meat and now feels way better. She doesn’t think everyone should try carnivore but if you’re sick it might be worth looking at

Being depressed for some people I know is like not being able to get out of bed/get off the couch/getting exhausted doing a simple task requiring some sort of effort!
I do agree that if you have a problem = YOU have to figure it out with the help and NOT DEPENDANCE on a provider who's got a TON of their own problems - but that's a different conversation for another time!

I was having cognitive issues at my toxic government job. The administration at work wanted me to determine the cause and then report the qualifying conditions for their assessment. I could not do that because my conditions were real. Had they been fraudulent I would have had the capacity to use the cognition I had, but claimed I did not. I ended up taking a "voluntary" demotion that did not affect my retirement pension and retiring eight years later receiving lower wages in the meantime. There were other employees whose performance was not monitored closely due to a preferred status. Our country deserves better than a government that is itself a social welfare program.

I was shocked to learn much of the weight I was carrying was edema. I lost 30 lbs of water in 5 days (scary experience) when my cortisol levels plummeted shortly after going on antidepressant/anti-anxiety meds for the first time. Counter-intuitive to lose weight on antidepressants, and I was also eating more and exercising less, trying to overcome a spiral of illnesses.
I look forward to these every sunday :)
What's this point/score system they're talking about?
I was actually listening to Mikhaila because of her story and diet for quite some time before I knew she was Jordan Peterson's daughter. Then my mind was blown. So I didn't discover her because of her dad.

I would like to add that there are side effects to this diet. The carnivore diet/starch free diet impact your bowel movements. You go #2 less and your body acts like you’re constipated which is tough on your intestines and colon.
Not really… your body is utilizing the majority of the food you’re eating.. so less waste
10+ years ago i figured all this out and more and cured myself, but no one listened to me.

Disclaimer: in zero sense of professionalism am I educated on medication.
When I got of anti depressence I had zero withdrawal, however I got of them whiting a month. They killed my emotional household to a point where it had the opposite effect. I felt nothing therefore I did not want to live.
Afterwards I worked with a professional to get trough a trauma and that ended up giving me the capacity to naturally fight off depression and gave me the me tal knowledge and capacity to identify and counter the signs of a new depressive wave. Been doing okay since.
Moral of the story: listen to your body, question everything with a pro and don't be afraid to switch caretakers if things don't work out
Hi Optometrist here. I am able to prescribe certain medications. I have reps come in and they are able to sponsor meals but that’s about it. I do not get “paid” to prescribe a certain medication. It’s very regulated. There’s actually a website where you can look up how much each doctor has received from reps and how it compares to national average. I’m not sacrificing my career to prescribe a specific medication for boxed sandwich and chips 😂.
Name of website?
Yes, I looked up my neurologist and she had been paid over $300,000 in the prior three years from the drug reps pushing the meds she was pushing on me. Maybe in optometry it's just lunches. But in specialties that focus on drugging people for life, it's a different story.
@@elizabethwilk9615
openpaymentsdata.cms.gov/physician/1495175
In the year 2022 I “received payment” for $579.42. Food and beverage was $503.43 and education was $75.99. I was average for my specialty in 2022.
An optometrist is very different from mental health and general doctors who describe medicine for weight , you basically told us you’re a veterinarian… not less important but a very different lane
What you're saying is correct. However, I believe there have been studies done showing that even just meals or free samples are enough to leave an impression on the prescribing doctor. Then the prescribing doctor is more likely to prescribe those drugs.
1:53:25 people take my questions as accusatory even when im genuinely trying to understand something.
A family member was in the hospital recently for a possible heart attack. They monitored her for 24 hours and gave her blood thinners and then at one point tried to give her a medication to lower her blood pressure. Her blood pressure was already low. This could have been deadly.

Antidepressant withdrawal is real and pretty bad but I guess the length differs. When I went off of 6 year SSRI use, I experienced the horrible symptoms for about 4 months. Did the antidepressants help? Not really. Fixing my shitty life made me better (I couldn't afford any therapy).

When a pregnant woman is craving ice cream she is probably craving carbs. It’s not about the ice cream or the food literally, the craving is about the macronutrients, vitamins and minerals a craving food will provide.

From an evolutionary perspective, the lion diet makes a lot of sense. People who live in areas far from the equator tend to be more prone to depression and eating a predominately meat diet signals to your body (and therefore probably causes epigenetic changes) that hey, it's winter. If my hypothesis is correct, she could probably enjoy fruits and veggies in summer and then switch back to meat for winter.
