You can't really spend a month on a family trip to Ireland and not stop in Dublin. Luckily we had met some new friends via our Instagram channels in Austria who lived just a short busride outside of the capital city. We were able to stay with them in a room they normally rent via AirBnB and commute in for two days. It's a great city with lots to do. We walked around everywhere and saw the main touristy things except the Guinness tour which we skipped. We crossed ha'penny bridge to go to the Leprechaun museum which is actually mostly about folk tales, we took the hilarious Viking tour (a rubber ducky tour) where we wore viking helmets and roared at the pedestrians. We saw the book of Kells and the even more impressive Trinity Library, we visited Dublinia, a wonderful interactive museum, had a pint in several pubs including the oldest in Dublin, and just had a wonderful time. We truly lucked out in the weather as it was sunny and warm the whole time.
While we stayed with friends, there are many fine family hotels and accommodations in the city for families on tour in Ireland. We also had great food and our kids were welcome everywhere.

Hey Mel, this is the second video of yours that I'm watching with my classes in Germany! Thought I'd leave a comment and thank you for your amazing work showing us different cities :)
Viel Dank 😃 That's amazing to hear and makes our day to know they are helpful and reaching people all over the world. -H
Thank you! Every other set of tourist guide videos I see for Dublin are just:
A) Go see Trinity College.
B) Go drink at all the pubs, and go to a beer museum that encourages you to drink beer!
Me and my kids: NO. There has to be something else to do in Ireland other than take your teenage daughters to a bar and drink. We're not doing that. I'm not doing that.
You're one of the few people who's put up videos of things to do in Ireland other than get drunk.
Thanks Kurt. We feel your pain. It seems like a lot of videos and articles just read other articles and name the top destinations. We really try to find fun things for our family to do and then share that with others, especially things that aren't listed in all the other vlogs and blogs. That said, Pubs are a key part of the culture and you can find great music and interesting food there. But we don't make it a focus either. Thanks so much for appreciating our efforts and I hope you have a great trip to Ireland. It's an amazing place with wonderful people. -H
