That voice and bass...I remember my best friend showing them to me the first time in high school. Using his paddle boat across the lake and getting high to his grandma's house. She was cool enough to buy us cigarettes. We smoked weed out of a pop can by the lake rocking out to this. October Rust was amazing, especially with joke intro.
Love the whole album, especially the punkesque songs “We Hate Everyone” and “KATWP.” I abbreviated the second because I didn’t want to get blocked on YT. I think the second song also has a little homage to Sabbath about halfway through it.
Thanks for the reaction. Score does not matter, just great to see the band live playing a brilliant song. Only got to see them live once. RIP Peter Steele, what a voice.
A minor correction, it's not 'Dublin' that he's shouting in the brief crowd interaction, it's 'Deutschland' because they're playing a festival in Germany, Rock am Ring in 2007 and would've been somewhere in the middle of the bill, hence the more limited stage dressing. Don't think you'd ever get an Irish rock/metal festival on that kind of scale where Type O would've appeared. The footage is taken from Rockpalast (a German rock show/brand that's been going since 1976) on national TV channel Westdeutscher Rundfunk Fernsehen (WDR), those glitches were most likely from the live feed itself, as they cover multiple festivals every year. I saw them the same summer playing Wacken Open Air in what was their final international tour before Peter's untimely death, because that was a more metal orientated festival they had bigger screens and more smoke machine usage, but it was still a mid-late afternoon slot outside which had less 'atmosphere' than their regular concerts. The relative lack of stage interaction was more a conscious choice by the band, leaning into the goth/doom aloof cliches they'd also poke fun at, they were nicknamed 'The Drab Four' after all, riffing off The Beatles' 'Fab Four' moniker. Although at this point Peter had cut out more illicit substance abuse, he was still drinking pretty heavily to mask his chronic stage fright, he'd go through a couple of bottles of red wine an hour during a performance. He did make a joke out of it at Wacken, wearing a bright green priest/preacher collar he anointed the crowd with a bottle like it was holy water, making the sign of the cross with it whilst saying 'the power of Christ compels you' mimicking The Exorcist. He didn't move around on stage as much as in their 90s commercial peak in part because he wasn't sober and was less steady on his feet, it might also explain the quicker tempo, as the band had to sync to his playing. As for the radio edit versus album version, as far as I'm aware Type O never played shortened arrangements live, all radio/video edits were purely for commercial/airplay purposes and done at the behest of their label.
Their best song! Best reaction! Peter seems to be a real fun guy (watch interviews) but nevertheless I would have changed the pavement, a contrabass in his arms look like a ukulele😂 R.I.P. Peter!
I personally think the whole album of Life is Killing Me is their best work. Every time I revisit their work, I find that album so much better than what most fans enjoy. Side observation: Remember the Dracula Musical from Forgetting Sarah Marshall? I picture that every time I hear Type O Negative 😆
🤘 Type O Negative 🤘 The Drab Four, from Brooklyn, New York City. Peter Steele, the bass-baritone Green Man, R.I.P. Don’t know if their unique brand of Gothic/Doom metal with hard, sarcastic humor has ever been equaled. Then again, how could it be. And something tells me there would never be too many trendy types at a Type O show. But definitely a great plethora of gorgeous Goth girls. My younger self woulda been in heaven.
I've always thought Type O Negative was one of the most unique sounding bands ever, they really are their own genre
Their guitar tone is lovely
Legendary song. I loved their cover of "Summerbreeze" as well.
@@shindigga420 That's a great cover indeed, definitely put their own spin and flavor on it.
That's a nice surprise. I love Type-O-Negative, my favourite goth metal band. Great honest reaction as always 👍💯

First saw TON at CBGBs in the early 90s. I had never heard anything like that or had seen someone with that voice and look. Mesmerizing. 🖤

Great.
Very good live performance

They definitely sped it up. RIP PS
How about doing some Uli Jon Roth? Do it with scorpions or other Uli bands!

Their live performance from Bizarre Fest is much better
I hate the camera work. You can't get a vibe of the stage energy when the cameraman is doing so many zooms
Metallica always do that, they always change their songs live, only much worse
