Jesus I wasn’t expecting this Doogal/magic roundabout video to be popular
The American version feels like an abridged fan dub parody on UA-cam.
Yeah, the Thomas and "I think I can!" references got me pretty hard.
I legit need an abridged vid of this movie, like at least like the sonic fandubs 😂
Doogal but every time a character says a pop culture joke, it gets faster
Ok, I’ll make a video of it
The US dub feels like they’re trying way too hard to be Shrek
But the dub is not Shrek, this is more 4Kids
Oh my god I didn’t realize they pulled a 4kids and changed the background music in the American version too
Technically they didn’t replace all of the original music, but yeah
0:34
3:01
5:52
Yeah, I blamed myself for that too lol.
1:46 that line delivery was pretty good to be fair
2:46-2:50 I just love how they tried to "americanise" a British movie by making a reference to a British band.
Also later when he said he dreamt about “jamming with McCartney”
They made a reference to Harry Potter which is also British media
So I’m from the US, but I saw the UK version as a kid, because someone bootlegged the theatrical release (I specifically remember it still being called “Doogal” in the opening credits). A couple years later, I’m watching HBO Family and I see Doogal is playing, so of course I wanna watch. All of a sudden, instead of Ian McKellen and Robbie Williams, I’m hearing Jimmy Fallon and Whoopi Goldberg, some kid is playing Doogal, all the British accents are gone, and now there’s a narrator for some reason, and I’m like “What the ever-loving fuck is this?!?!?”
“We’re gonna lose this race to Thomas the Tank Engine? I don’t think so!” was probably the only line in the American version that made me laugh. Everything else about it was dreadful.
Yeah especially there’s one trainz video that uses the American versions audio, and the video has diesel 10 in it
5:24
the "hey i'm steve" at 3:52 got me but yeah most of these jokes are horrendous especially the star trek one
@@CharlieXBlitzoEntertainment yep I know that one.
@@CharlieXBlitzoEntertainment Yeah, there are like a ton of these versions, including one which I made a few years back. Man! You have no idea how foolish I was to think that Doogal was the original but not The Magic Roundabout! If anything, I would might have to remake the whole video and use the original audio instead of the Americanized one.
Also, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem did the whole pop culture thing way better 17 years after the American version released
Correct
That's also because they wanted to capture what actual teenagers or geeks at that age would talk like or are into. So logically it made sense. All the pop culture references have nothing to do with anything in The Magic Roundabout.
It's like they made their own abridged parody, then marketed it like an actual movie.
It’s also one entire unfunny shitpost
The Thomas the Tank Engine joke is my only favorite joke in the US version. Also, I wish that they made the cartoony sound effects much more softer
Totally. Just before Zeebad’s train blows up you can hear the hissing sound popping a bit while being badly looped, while Zeebad references Dr Phil at that very moment.
This brings me to the question….why did they re dub this movie in the first place? I mean the US and the UK speak the same language was a redub really necessary
Slang
Yep, it's pretty pointless as hell
Harvey Weinstein thought the original movie was boring so he recut and entirely redubbed the film
Might've been that other than Ian McKellen, they felt nobody in the cast was known to American audiences
If that's the case it doesn't make much sense to me, I'm pretty sure Bill Nighy at least was known outside of the UK and Kylie Minogue for certain was known outside of the UK
Regardless I'm glad I got the original version, being a fan of Robbie Williams' music I thought he was hilarious as Dougal
Those guys think we Americans can't take British stuff. Well, we can.
I saw Doogal at the theatre when I was 8 years old. I haven’t thought about it since, but seeing this reminded me of how confusing it was to have no idea what the characters were saying half the time since I was too young to get any of the references, or to even realize they were supposed to be references. It felt like a fever dream.
Oh, this was MASSACRED in the US. Never has there been a perfect showing of how our two countries differ!
Agreed. I see that it’s not just the accents which makes the two versions different, but it’s the reviews as well.
The UK Dub was So Much Better!
Agreed. The American dub turned it into a parody of the UK dub
Yeah, definitely better.
It's the only version I watch of this movie! We don't talk about THIS version!!!!!
The American dub felt like an abridged parody tbh
The UK Dub is more faithful, while the US Dub feels more like something out of an Abridged series, or a parody dub.
*unfunny abridged parody
Narrator: As a wise man once said; That's all, folks.
Me: How about...?
Zebadee: Time for bed. (Chuckles)
5:25 That Thomas reference
Probably the only reference that got a laugh out of me.
The only good joke in the whole damn movie
The original British version of the films is "FAAAARRRRR" more superior than the crappy Americanized version.
Good point. Also there's a few more reason why the UK is used to be better than the US, like at Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends franchise.
@@realchristian77010hey I’m a American and that hurts stop disrespecting our culture🤓
I’ve actually come up with a fan-made idea for if The Magic Roundabout had a fixed and improved American Dub that stays more faithful to the original UK Dub.
Original Studios: Pathé Pictures and Studio Action Synthese
US Distribution Studios: Paramount Pictures/Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies
US Redub Director: Rob Renzetti (yes, as in the creator of My Life as a Teenage Robot)
New US Voice Cast (which will be a balanced combination between regular voice actors and celebrity voice actors)…
Tom Holland as Dougal (using his normal British voice)
David Kaufman as Dylan The Rabbit (Danny Phantom with a California surfer/hippie voice)
Carlos Alazraqui as Brian The Snail (Western/Southern accent)
Moira Quirk as Ermintrude The Cow
Cristina “Vee” Valenzuela as Florence (she can do a really good British accent)
Ian McKellen as Zebedee The Good Wizard (reprising his role from the original UK Dub)
Matt Berry as The Train
Bill Hader as Soldier Sam (with new and better lines)
Liev Schriber as Zeebad (his roles as The Storm King and Kingpin were what made me choose Liev)
Rob Paulsen as Mr Grimsdale (French Accent/ZeFronk voice)
Jeff Bennett as Mr Rusty (Old Man Jenkins voice)
Kate Soucie as The Children
Dee Bradley Baker, Richard Horvitz, Grey DeLisle, and Janice Kawaye as The Skeleton Guards
And Kevin Michael Richardson as The Giant Skeleton
Sounds a lot better.
Well, I thought the US Version of Doogal is the original dub.
@@roberttreacy8271 Thanks
1:29 Did the train said dammit or dang it???
He said “THAT’S NOT HELPING DYLAN”
@@Commentman-43Thanks. I couldn't really understand, what the train said.
I'm pretty sure he actually said Dylan.
I got a few reasons about this video:
1. Some of The Bad PC References kinda made me laugh a bit. I mean “Forget it Frosty!” is an example for how okay it was.
2. I do agree on How Ermintrude sounds in the UK. Whoopi Goldberg sounds much better and terrific.
3. Yeah, I 100% Agreed how bad some of the jokes are.
I grew up with the American version and after seeing this I don’t know whether my childhood was a lie or throughly enhanced.
Like watching the comparisons back-to-back, some of the edits are so stupid and/or jarring they loop around to being ironically funny.
Shoutout to the American skeletons: 3:17 3:52 4:19
ok the "what's up doc" joke made me chuckle 💀
3:09 If we were to fix it, the last skeleton should have made sounds that made it like if he were saying "Here's Johnny!"
As a kid when I said to myself I wanted The Magic Roundabout to come to the US, this is NOT what I exactly had in mind!
The pop culture references seem forced and weren't really funny, so I'm glad I saw the UK version instead.
Same!
Wanting You is an American drama thriller series by HBO and it will be upcoming on March 2025, and this show stars Rosalie Chiang, Eli Marienthal, Katie Holmes, Bill Hader, Rupert Everett, Jon Stewart, Timothée Chalamet, and Shia LaBeouf. This upcoming show stars as a 21-year old girl named Claire Anderson from Atlanta, Georgia played by Rosalie Chiang, Claire is a brave and caring young girl who have been working at Mentmore Industries Enterprises, she has been protecting for her job, and her family.
Yeah so what!
Bill Nighy is such a legend, I wonder did he realised that Doogal (2006) exists?
The US dub probably is the one animated movie that has the most pop culture references ever. I prefer the UK dub over the US one.
Me too. The US one makes the film a really bad SNL parody.
Cool! But my favorite is the US Version of Doogal.
I used to like doogal as a kid, but I wish they kept the UK dub when they brought it over to America
It's like that one ghost story anime dub
Don’t remind me.
I wish they can re release the movie and show American audience the original uk version
Well, the UK version turns 20 next year so…
on netflix its the uk version I belive
@@mauzki- no, it's the US version
@@SecurityBreachShowFan98 yeah plus I tried watching the uk version on Netflix but instead they scammed me to watch the us dub
@@CharlieXBlitzoEntertainment the same thing with me.
It feels like the references in the original Magic Roundabout movie don’t detract from the film while the references in the Harvey Weinstein approved Doogal feel like the crap even Seltzer and Friedberg would reject.

Here is hiw i would rewrite all the two dubs into one single; If the us cast would instead use the lines from the uk dub, the us Doogal could be then voiced by an adult as well, The Moose's dialogue and farts could be removed, in the use dub, Zabeedee's uk voice actor could stay, he would say "We are going to lose to a tank engine?", and the soundtrack from the uk version can stay. That way there would be only one single dub version.
@@maurycyoseka1057 Sounds better.
Le manège enchanté est un film français qui reprend ľhistoire de la série animée de 1964 qui a été conçu à Clisson (France) 😊
You know, as a Yank, I’m glad I’m one of the few people who’s fortunate to only watch the UK version of this movie as a kid instead of the Americanized garbage. I watched The Magic Roundabout on UA-cam when I was 10 back in the early 2010’s and I never owned a copy of the Doogal movie dvd. Thank god!
This “Doogal” movie is what happens when you give a British IP to America.
The UK Version of The Magic Roundabout is pretty good
But The US Version of The Magic Roundabout is Funny and Hilarious because Soldier Sam says "I call this one the spin cycle! Look at that, I'm great! Oh, I'm average! Nope, I'm Terrible! D'oh!", and Mr. Moose says "I'm Brown, It's my birthday! I'm Brown, It's my birthday! Go... (Farts)" and Doogal says "Forget it, Frosty!" And Skelton says "Here's Johnny!" And the Train says "I think i can, i think i can, i think i can, i think i can!" And Brian says "no, no, no, no! Oh! Master Chief ate it!" And Dylan says "Very Pink Floyd!" And Zeebad says "Are we going to lose this race to Thomas the Tank Engine? I don't think so, more coal!"
Doogal in USA version should've been distributed by Paramount and Nickelodeon movies and premiered it in 2005 instead of 2006 and kept the british dub
As an American, I deeply apologize to the British for our crappy dub.
Totally. Even I as an American agree with you. At one point I used to think that Doogal was good, until I saw The Magic Roundabout and said to myself “Man! How could I have been so foolish!” No wonder why the original UK version got way more positive reviews!
At least referencing 3Musketeers made as much sense as an allusion to drugs.
1:00 [ Zeebad ]: The map! [ Doogal ]: Forget it, Frosty! [ Zeebad ]: Oh.
He actually said “Who?” As if he’s never heard of Frosty The Snowman before. How ironic, an ice cold villain who has never heard of a snowman. ⛄️
4:18 That's not even how the story of Harry Potter goes!
Def liked the UK version, the US version js feels like a failed Snapcube fandub video with Ermintrude & Doogal’s voices sounding so bad they sound misgendered, but it’s a theatrical release & a cinematic atrocity
Right?! Doogal sounds like Justin Bieber in the US version and it’s jarring!
I never seen this movie, but I’ve seen the trailer when I watch “Arthur and the minimoys”
I recommend you go watch the UK Dub instead of The US Dub Mainly Because of How Harvey Weinstein Ruined This Movie For The American Dub
The Magic Roundabout UK Dub:

@@CharlieXBlitzoEntertainmentI agree, Harvey Weinstein even ruined The Thief and The Cobbler
@@6thBeatleFinnxMal0 so you gonna watch the magic roundabout the uk dub?
@@CharlieXBlitzoEntertainmentyeah
I'm pretty he could have said: Now it's time for Zebedi (I think thats how you say his name) to Zee gone.
4:05 Not gonna lie, I found this line funny.
The day the Nostalgia Critic finally reviews the US dub will also be the day he gets therapy from reviewing it
i grew up on the magic roundabout, since i'm british. i've always loved it, its a great movie! so i was always shocked to hear americans say it was awful, until i learnt that the american version is dubbed and very different. seeing this really makes everything make sense to me now 😭😭 such a shame they didn't just keep the original for american audiences. the jokes work there too, nothing needed changing lol
also side note: i was hoping my favourite line would at least be kept since it was badass. but even that got changed to some shitty joke 😭 "i don't believe in violence... except in self defence" followed by dylan the chill pacifist kicking absolute ass to fun music goes so hard even now
This shit was peak, and honestly, In my opinion, the Americanized version is better
Even though I never heard of either versions, The american dub feels like an abridged one.
Omg I didn’t Realize that when I was a kid when I was watching it
Harvey, have you ever been to Hell? I think not. Did you know that once, Hell was nothing more than the absence of quality, and if you've been in its presence then you'd realize mediocrity was punishment enough? ... But then... your kind came along and made it so. much. worse.
Dogma deleted scene reference! Kinda fitting since this channel is named after a couple shows about Hell.
2:48 « Very Pink Floyd
-NOOOOOOOOO »
The cast in these dubs were OK. But, if Doogal had a different storyline, different dubs and extremely different voices which some writers writing the script, it would’ve been a better movie. Also, this US dub version should’ve have the same runtime as the UK one. That’s the total differences between them.
The references in the US version are dangerously close to Seltzer and Friedberg territory.
I like Both US and UK But i could. Handle your opinion on US ( Like )
The references don't even make sense most of the time. They're non-sequiters to non-sequiters. "Lord of the Springs" could have worked because it's at least clever, but no kid would have gotten the Pink Floyd or Simon and Garfunkel joke.
I didn't even realize the US version had some of the scenes flipped from the UK version.
That's just weird, why'd they do that?
Wow. Looking back at it, yeah, I can definitely see how the American dubbed version is now painful after not seeing this film since I was a child.
For a long time I hadn't even known that it was based upon a stop motion series and first was made in the UK and dubbed over for American audiences. As a child, I never knew so I just accepted it and thought it was fun and amusing at times. The only reason how I discovered it was originally from the UK was because I'm a big fan of Classic Doctor Who, and Tom Baker voiced the character Zeebad in the UK version when I looked up his filmography. With all the different celebrities like Chevy Chase and Kevin Smith dubbing the voices and the poorly forced pop culture reference jokes they put in...looking back at it now, it's harder to appreciate. But it's still quite interesting. At least the kids will have something to watch to keep them occupied.
True, when I was a kid I accidentally watched Doogal in both theaters and DVD since imo I always thought the McDonald's toys I use to have were the fun part about the movie and I didn't know much about The Magic Roundabout at first either until I looked it up when I was in my early 10's.
So last week watching The Magic Roundabout 2005 on UA-cam was the best redemption I ever made even if I was 19 years too late and it was fun to watch, alot more than Doogal that is XD lol.
Plus, what I also loved about The Magic Roundabout (2005) besides the music was also that they got some of the actors I know besides Ian McKellen as the voice of Zebedee like Bill Nighy,Jim Broadbent, and Ray Winstone as the voices of Dylan,Brian, and Soldier Sam since I also know them in other roles like Rango,Pirates of the Carribean,Beowulf,Robots, and one of my favorite Disney guilty pleasures growing up called Valiant, good times :)

I think there are two ways about this film.
1: Destroy it and let the original be released in the USA, so the memory of Harvey Weinstein will be erased.
2: Let this remain as punishment for the Americans for ruining something foreign that didn't need Americanising.
Choose which one.
