  • In this Live Lesson we take one of our players through a doubles defence session.
    First we made a few technical changes, before stress testing the new technique.
    Then we look at how he can improve his tactical defensive play, a lot of players play reactively instead of proactively when defending.

    Great vid. Liking that it's aimed at those in the intermediate to advanced classifications. More like this please!

    Thanks ! Again, such an amazing video. It's really hard to improve for amateur players, once their reach certain level, because there is very little information on such thin aspects across the internet. You have such unique content ! Hope your channel will grow really big next year, because you deserve it.

    Great video guys! Both for players and (starting) coaches. It gives insight in the technical part but also a bit on the tactical part for the player but also for a coach on which details to focus on but most important WHY!
    Besides the level of exercises is really for intermediate players instead of the beginner throw (maybe feed with racket) & hit exercises you often see.
    Keep on the good mix of technical, tactical and live lessons!

    it's a great video and i love the way it was presented. you talked to andrew about bringing his racket up a bit when he forced you to reply from below the tape. if you watch players like tony gunawan or lee yong dae, you'll see they not only brought their rackets up in these situations but they also brought the dominant leg slightly forward for a more aggressive reply. lyd in particular would be constantly judging this and adjusting his stance between more defensive (dominant leg slightly behind) and aggressive (dominant leg slightly forward) positions

      Thanks for the positive comment, pleased you enjoyed it.
      Very good comment regarding the racket leg coming forwards when the shuttle starts to turn flat, this is due to the player no longer feeling like they are on the defence and see it as a great chance to counter attack and therefore can lead with their racket leg. 👍

    Very nice video. Totally different with other badminton video where they only show how it is done without really coaching and correcting technique. It would be nice if there's a video similar to this for smash technique

    Amazing video! One question, will the grip always be in bevel or backhand thumb?

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ  5 місяців тому

      Pleased you liked the video. You will start on the bevel grip as it is more universal and most shots will be played this way. Some of the higher shots may use more of a thumb grip. It’s important to keep a light grip pressure which makes changing between grips easier. Thanks for watching 👍
