      I was just wondering if Nintendo actually designed this route seriously. I mean, in normal ways, u can only use light arrows to hurt Ganon’s tail and other ways can’t work. But in this video Link can do this by Deku stick.

      Some information is datamined from game but it's not always helpful since correlations and how to execute them is not so simple in game. I am pretty sure that link between ganons tower and deku tree was a result of datamining 100%

      No I think they choose the Japanese versions because the text loads faster instead of having to take time to convert to other languages. Something like that. The original Japanese games can be beaten slightly faster.

    For everyone who doesn't really understand speedruns.
    This is a speedrun and it is 100% legitimate since this is a category called any% which means that youre just supposed to beat the game as fast as possible by any means necessary. There are other categories such as glitchless where, you guessed it, you are not allowed to use most glitches (this can get extremely complicated in some scenarios).

    • @musicenjoyer8605
      @musicenjoyer8605 6 років тому +13

      1. Because people don't usually bother to watch those. You can go do that at home, albeit slower.
      2. Because those are easy as hell, and generally boring to watch.
      3. Because they've ALREADY beaten the game tens to hundreds of times, and its no longer in any way, shape, or form a challenge.
      4. Because these any% runs are much shorter, which allows far more iterations, more practice on specific parts, higher skill caps, and generally show a far better understanding and mastery of the game than any other kind of run.

    • @KyleEvans09
      @KyleEvans09 6 років тому +2

      Shadow Walsh plenty of people watch them. I prefer to watch glitchless.
      But I don’t think IGN has ever posted a 3 hour long video.
      Any% is fun to watch on some games.

    I knew before opening this video, that it required a glitch. Hell, the water temple alone takes more than 17 minutes to finish, without a glitch. Anyone who expected not to see a glitch here, must have a collection of deeds to the finest bridges around the world.

    I love watching any% speedruns, it's always amazing and insane to see what kind of glitches people have found especially in Zelda games, and how they've managed to control them and master them. I mean, just release some bugs, do some backflips and grab your ocarina to get from the Deku tree to Ganondorf? I've known about that one existing for a long time but how on earth do people find these things out?! XD

    Most of the comments on this video are pretty decent. I can’t believe how many people are whining about this not being a “real speedrun.” Just because you don’t think he beat the game, or what he did wasn’t hard, doesn’t mean that he didn’t beat the game and that it wasn’t hard. Doing what he did requires vast amounts of knowledge about the game and the way it works. He knew that the deku stick does the same amount of damage as the master sword does, so when he got ISG off the Navi text he could damage Ganon really quickly in the child form, because child can’t use master sword and adult can’t use deku stick. Anybody inexperienced could try for hours upon hours doing what he did and not get anywhere near 17 minutes in an any% speed run. You’d be stuck at collapse wondering how the hell he got up there in the first place. But if you want to see a longer video then watch ZFG beat the game, 100%, in just under 4 hours. The full streams are on his channel and satisfy your need for a longer game, which is probably compensating for something.

    People tend to forget that solo video games do NOT have any set of rules besides what the game allows you to do.
    Glitched runs are the default because they use the exact product given by the devs, while glitchless runs require the runners to agree on what is allowed or not (basically making their own unofficial set of rules).

    Games today dont even come close to the feeling these older games gave us. Games now, are stuck in purgatory. They cant advance any further and a lot of games are even backtracking.
    The real problems are we are so far living in the future that nothing is original anymore, and nothing feels spectacular because we have already seen and experienced it all. Unless they keep advancing VR to the point that we can relive these old games in true VR. Im excited for when GTA becomes VR. Youl find me at the stripclub hahahaha

    Really respect the skill, science and experimenting that goes into speed running glitches. But I wonder if speed running like this is actually gratifying as far as the actual game is concerned. I'd love to do it for fun and I'm goin to research the complexities behind all of this, but at the end of the day who cares? The game in its entirety is a masterpiece and the skill/ time it takes to figure out these glitches could be used for something more useful/ productive. Still cool.
