I have had my 2013 Accord Sport for a year now and I love this vehicle. The mileage is excellent, average about 26 in the city plus the engine is as smooth as silk. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone interested in the Honda Accord. The final selling point was the reliability rating I got from my family mechanic--who said I couldn't go wrong with the Accord.

Disagree with the passengers assessment that the instrument panel, etc. is too "techie" for a 40 year old businessman. I'm a 40 something businessman who came of age with Apple, Microsoft, and the beginning of the internet. 20 years ago it was 1995 and I was in my 20's. I'm sorry, but it wasn't exactly stone knives and bearskins. I've evolved and adapted to all the innovations as they've come along. So I'm not daunted at all with the instrument panel and the overall technology. I think it's a little arrogant and presumptuous to assume that just because you're not currently 20 something that technology is something to be afraid of or avoided. Or worse, something that has to be vastly simplified so that poor elderly technophobes can understand and use it.

I just brought the 2014 Accord Sport, in Black, with 6- Speed manual trans. I've read most of the reviews, and researched extensively the Accord Sport. This is a car you can live with for many years. Like the BMV's, it's about Driving!! In a few years, there will be no manual transmissions, so why not get the best. Sunroof, nah, buy a convertible. $22,900 for a Sport, with everything I need, and don't need. There's are childish responses from some, comparing it to a Hyundai, or Kia. Childish because, the driving dynamics aren't there for the Korean cars. If, hydraulic steering was still being offered, it would be the best, but for the money, I couldn't find ANYTHING that compares with the Accord Sport, with manual transmission, for the price.. Give us Sport owners a break. We drive our cars, and still have money for other things. You can pay a lot more for less, but you get so much with the Honda Accord Sport, given it will be extremely rare to find a manual transmission in years to come. I love the driving experience of the Accord Sport.

I'm over 40 and the interior to my test is everything that I wish for. I'm very surprise that this accord wasn't car of the year, but that doesn't mean anything because I remember my neighbor bought 2008 car of the year[Malibu]. went the warranty expire became all type of electric problems including door actuator malfunction , one of the headlights get water inside and who knows what will be next. I will take a Honda or Toyota in a heart beat ,especially a "Honda".

5 years later, I don't regret one bit for making this purchase. The best engine that I ever drove (JFYI, I lease a BMW 320i during the same time). My mileage was consistently above 32 in highways, which is phenomenal considering how much power the vehicle has ...

I don't usually like Honda styling, but this car looks great with those rims and more aggresive grill. Certainly a great value. On the interior dash design, I think it's got a lot of monotone colored plastic, which is typical of imports. No accents make it look kinda cheap. But for the value offered, that's easy to live with.

I'm considering this Accord for a good used car. In doing some research, I've found a lot of negative comments on the seats. Most of the complaints stem from the seats which seem to be poorly designed as to cause lower back aches and pains. Also, there are comments about how the head rests are designed, resulting in pain and stiffness in the neck. I do want to use the car for long road trips, but the seat complaints have me worried. Any long time owner's feedback about this would be helpful.

I think honda was attempting to go for a futuristic look with the interior. Especially with the dual displays in the newer models. I really wish they included a sunroof. Maybe we'll see one in the future accord. Good honest review guys!

I was watching this and other Honda Accord Sport videos on UA-cam pretty much on repeat for 2 weeks as a result I internalized myself with the car before I went to the dealership for a testdrive. After doing some competitive shopping I finally got the car in Obsidian Blue last week!. As far as accessories go, i got splash guards and wheel locks. The Honda Accord sport is a great car for its price point!. You really do get MORE car for your money!

Hey Dave, I saw this review months ago and it made me want to test drive the new Accord. I had a 2011 Crosstour and albeit, it was a nice it had no character. I test drove a 2013 Sport 6speed manual and I loved it! For the price, you get so much and when I drove my car through Malibu Canyon and onto Pacific Coast Highway, I knew I made the right choice! Thanks for your review!

Just bought this car. Have own two past Honda accord and I'm super excited. The best feature: Bluetooth connectivity to play media from the phone. The perfect add on to make it a classier, cream leather seats and window tinting. $2000 cost but were hoping this is some what an investment in hopes of return

I just bought this car in black and I love it. Just got out of BMW 545i and I don't miss the power and know I won't miss the repair bills! I measured up the interior dimensions of a lot of cars, and this one is huge, especially the back seat. 35 mpg but I'm pulling 37 in the econ/neuter mode. 4 speaker radio leaves a little to be desired, but Pandora and bluetooth pulling from your iphone helps. Drive it you will like it. A couple grand more than a civic.... step UP people!

Forgot to mention that the car I test-drove was 6-speed manual which is very slick and precise and the clutch is the lightest I've ever experienced. I haven't had a chance to try it myself on these snow covered streets, but some people claim that this manual trans accord can go 0-100 km/h in 6.6 sec. Maybe that's where Honda justifies a "Sport" designation, but I agree, it should not apply to a CVT which is a whole second slower.

Test drove this car, it feels luxurious, very quiet and handles well with a lot of feedback from the (electric) steering. The body roll is very minimal, at times it felt "almost" like my old 1999 BMW 323i and that's a big compliment to a front wheel drive sedan. The engine is not as smooth like beemer's inline six, but still sounded fairly nice for a four cylinder, and has a plenty torque at around 4000 rpm. I was impressed with the dash design and I am 40 years old too!!

The outside is pretty apealing but the inside needs a lot of work. I was originally shopping to buy my Wife an Accord, when I drove it I thought it was nice, the Nissan didn't bother, but when we drove the Optima SX, truly I really never thought I would buy one just gave them a try, but when I drove the SX 274hp turbo and the interior was amazing with plenty of leg room front and back and the outside we bought the pearl white with panoramic sun roof we just had to have it. And again we gave it a try cause Me being a former German car mechanic knowing that Peter Schreyer, had designed this car we just had to check it out. And we fell in love and bought it. Great car Kia!

Good review guys. I've got my SUV list. Now I'm working on my sedan list. The Sport trim has excellent standard features. So, I added it to my list. With regards to the interior, well, I like a "sexy" dash and this isn't so sexy but it does surpass my minimum needs. Lastly, I do admit that I like the safety features of the EX-L (w/out Nav) but have ZERO desire to dish out an almost extra $5k more.

I think it's funny how you say that maybe 40 year olds (like me) may not like the "tuner" kind of look. Keep in mind, we 40 year olds drove a ton of legendary tuner vehicles. Not being critical just that it gave me a chuckle when I heard it.

Not sure about US but in Canada, even the base model comes with front heated seats, backup camera and 17 inch alloys as standard, USB, bluetooth etc. Sport adds 18-inch wheels, dual zone climate, nicer cloth and dual pipe exhaust (4 more hp). Extra $6k in EX-L and touring will give you, sunroof, sat-nav, leather, front/rear heated seats, Lane-watch system (which btw is pretty cool), front collision warning, AHA cloud system, Pandora and some other gadgets..is it worth the extra $? Not sure!

I agree it's a bit too much to call it a sport, but if you ignore that fact and test drive this car (try 6 speed manual) you will be blown away as I was with how it drives, accelerates and handles in corners. Possibly the best road handling front wheel drive sedan today. Don't need a 6 cylinder at all!

For clarification, Honda does offer a sunroof on the Accord EX and above trim levels... The LX and Sport models do not have the option.
As for the Dash being too "Techy", I would venture to say it may have been a stretch to find a complaint. If anything, Honda has simplified their dash, made it more user friendly, and operationally sound. The interior is more of a "poor man's Audi", as opposed to overdone. Interesting position from a man who loves his German cars?

  • @LaserLuther

I would like to see a sunroof option and the top stereo option in the sport. I think Honda should offer the sport as an option to any accord model lx, ex etc. Not as it's own model.

after 6.5 yrs with my 2013 accord LX automatic, this car is solid. it lacks the following essentials:
heated mirrors, noise level can be high as front side window seals are poorly designed. my suspension has taken a lot of NYC potholes . Better suspension would be nice. the worst driver seating ergonomics with a seat that has no support at all. the seat could use more padding and support . wish I had fog lights and better head lights. I did an upgrade of head lights on my own to improve the visibility. Other cars have a bit more horsepower, we should have the basic honda accord with at least 190 to 195 HP. Gas consumption is ok, Nyc driving I get 24.5 MPG. Highway I get about 33MPG, sometimes I can get high to about 37MPG but that is with cruise control.

  • @fuzzytalz
    @fuzzytalz 11 років тому

That's in Canada. Here in the U.S., you have to spring for the EX trim level to get heated seats and, I believe, auto-dimming mirrors. Sure, the Elantra may be a class below the Accord, but when features become standard in the class below, it definitely colors buyer's expectations of the equipment levels in the class above. Compared to the equipment levels in my Elantra, Honda still seems stingy with the Accord lineup. Well, unless backup cameras and lane departure cameras carry a lot of weight.

The Accord interior LOOKS pretty great. But equipment is still lacking. My Hyundai Elantra has heated front seats and auto-dimming mirror for significantly less money. And it's nearly as roomy inside. Honda has made great strides with this new Accord compared to the outgoing model, but I don't think it's QUITE caught up with the competition in terms of style OR content. The Kia Optima continues to be the class of this class when it comes to value and style.

I am the original owner of a 1998 Camry LE with only 109K miles and though it has been a fine and reliable car overall, it still is not as good as my 1986 Accord LX was, esp. in handling! What I have HATED about the Camry are all the parts that have broken like the driver's side exterior handle, gas cap door spring, and alot of parts in the interior. Just so VERY frustrating and I expected better quality from Toyota. By the end of the year, I plan on getting a 2013 Accord EX-L 4-cylinder.

Great Review!! I prefer the Fully Loaded EX-L V6 for the fact that it has more Power,Sun Roof, Key less Ignition and is only 2 or 3 mpg shy compared next to the smaller 4 cylinder version. As for the Interior yes I agree with Alex that it seems very Techy n just looks very confusing with all the buttons and what not on the Steering wheel but other then that Everything is Phenomenal on the New Accord. Excited to get mine this April!

Could this color be a Modern steel metallic? Hematite is not available in Sport model, at least not for public, not sure about auto journalists. Maybe it's the lighting but I think hematite also has a little shade of green.

Its tough for honda, I would say 5 to 7 years ago, the were at the top for reliability, but now mazda, the Korean makers, and American car makers have caught up.

Is this a forum of Hyundai lovers???...hahaha, I am happy for you guys that you love your "boxes on wheels" so much. Sonata's road handling is described as noticeably harsh in comparison to Fusion, Altima and Accord with on-center steering feel and front tires often loosing traction on acceleration. I understand why your level of "equipment" is so important to you over how the car drives. So if you need a car for grocery shopping, Hyundai is a perfect choice.

An honest un-biased opinion, as I have been looking for a while now for what car to buy. The Honda cars are nice to look at but the interior seems like the parts are majority plastic, I feel like the components are a bit cheap as well as the buttons on the dashboard. I do not like that the navigation isn't just full touch screen and that it is located so far. The steering wheel also seems majority plastic. I feel like the design needs another update as they have been rocking this same concept design since 2008 with some slight modifications. As with the other competitors I think the ford fusion titanium has an upper advantage. In my opinion you get more bang for your buck with the fusion. You get great fuel economy, One huge navigation screen which is fully touch screen and has a smooth Microsoft based software, Smart key access where you just open the door without any buttons on the door handles or the need of pressing the buttons on the key fob, simply just touch the door handle outside to lock, and of coarse the push button to start. It also has blind spot detection, rear view camera, 2 HD decently sized screens on the odometer where you can display almost about everything about the car and you can interchange them as well. It has all around car sensors to prevent you from hitting curbs, walls, or cars from the front and the back. It even has cruise control pacing which will slow down automatically if a car comes closer to you while on cruise control and will speed up when its free. It even has park assist, it parallel parks automatically! It has huge space and even the steering wheel feels more sturdy. With the AWD you get about the same fuel economy as the Honda accord v6 and it has great drive overall. They even paid Aston Martin for their front grill design that makes the car look very luxurious. Just driving the car you feel like your in a huge sturdy expensive car with a lot of technology also with great fuel efficiency. So right now I cant really find anything that beats the technology and price for the Ford Fusion Titanium. If anybody can show me one thats better than Im open to listening

Thanks for the video review!! Really bummed on how Honda cut corners on this model (no sun roof, 4 speaker sound system). Why could they not have installed a 6 speaker sound system and made the sun roof optional?
Everything else about this car is perfect in my books: Handling, response, turning response, drive, aesthetics interior and exterior....really torn about going with this or the EX....do I give up the better sound system and music for looks?

@sal990 - we probably won't be getting any 2012's from our suppliers anymore - all new vehicles will most likely be 2013's. Is there something about the 2012 Camry SE that you wanted to know/see? - Dave

Anyway, if Honda has this 9th gen Accord few years ago. My secondary car will be Accord Sport instead of TL.

How do you find the engine sound of Honda's VTEC vs. BMW's sweet muted growl? I used to own 1999 323i ans loved it's super smooth engine and driving, NOT so much the repair bills. I find the Accord's engine has a certain unique growl starting at 2500 rpm, but higher rpm's sound great!

Thanks for the new Accord review! I have a 09 exl v6, and i can get up to 30mpg on the highway, the ninth gen accord(v6)can get up to 34mpg,with 7 more hp so is not too much of a difference between the 4 cyl @35mpg.

  • @djapegosensgo2731

The turbo charger?? This is just a 4 cylinder VTEC with direct injection, there is no turbo in Honda accord sport, only a less restrictive dual pipe exhaust busting engine's 185 hp to 189. It's the Econ Mode of driving that electronically controls the engine output and the A/C load that help the fuel economy.

I'm also 6'5"/6'6" and first time buying a car since my 2002 Nissan Sentra. Head room is definitely a concern.
Why are the LX and Sport the only options? Is that due to the lack of a sunroof, which adds about an inch of headroom? Was thinking the Sport had a sunroof, but maybe not... Would like an EX-L possibly if I could get it without the sun roof...

Great video guys as always! I like your car comments and sense of humor. My brother just bought a 2013 Accord Sport 4-cylinder but since I want more at a fair price, I am looking at the EX-L 4 cylinder. I think Honda would sell more Sports if they had a color other than black for the interior and offered leather as an option along with a moonroof. What I HATE about Hondas is that the back seat does not fold down in two parts like my 1998 Camry does. Honda, can you change this, please????

Was all set to buy one of these then looked at some consumer reviews and there was a whole thread discussing how the CVT jerked quite noticeably while accelerating slowly in the 5-40 mph range. DId either of you notice this and do you have any resources to find out more about the issue? thanks in advance

I love my 08 EX Accord Sedan but my only qualm with Honda is very rigid on options with trim levels and you have to give up the "Sport" for an EX to get a sunroof. Being that is it 3 inches shorter and dimensions are smaller than mine have they reclassified it as mid-size from full like mine?
