- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Honda Accord is one of the world's most popular family sedans. It is also one of honda's best selling cars. With decades of sales success, the Honda Accord has long history of hauling families around America and thus cast a long shadow. Is the brand new 2013 Honda Accord up to the task of carrying on that tradition is a great question to ask when reviewing the new 2013 model. That is question we will eventually as and answer but since we were able to get a rare six speed manual accord to test we wanted to answer a different question first. Just how fast is the new 2013 Honda Accord from 0-60 MPH @ a mile above sea level?
I got one two days ago. Six speed makes all the difference. Fun and Accord in the same sentence! Who knew.

Huss Ali This time of year in Minnesota the weather is great for great gas milage. That said, my worst tank was about 37 mpg and best was 41 mpg. About 1/4 of the time the A/C was on. It was only 3 mpg less than my Ford Fiesta SE 1.6 5 speed manual! It is also surprisingly fast. I really like this car.
Slap a manual 6 speed in v6 sedan and I'll buy it!

I love the Accord. Frankly, the only Accord I dont like is the 8th gen (08-12). My father's 06 Accord has served well for 132,000 miles with only needing tires, 2 batteries, and one set of brake pads replaced. Honda makes an epic car.
This video made me go and buy this car over new Altima and Regal (GS Turbo 6 SPD). Literally, THIS video. I got a 2016 model, visual upgrades over the 2013-2015. Of course, in 6 SPD.

An update: I sold the 2016 and got a 2019 Sport 2.0T 6MT
Nice to see Honda coming back with a Honda! I was starting to think Honda was losing major ground because of their Accords and Civics. The new Accord shows what Honda is capable of. And it's great to see a MT in a Honda. I have always loved Honda's MTs
I rented an automatic thru Turo when my wife and I went to visit her family in California and fell in love with it. I fell in love with it so much that 5 years later I found a 2014 with decent miles in a manual available :-) . I purchased it and it always a thrill to drive. Its very rare too.

I must point out too, that it's so great to see you fellas testing cars at ALTITUDE !...I've lived in Colorado for 20+ years, and my frustration has finally ended! I no longer have to look at (insert any car mag), read a review, and have to do math and attempt to estimate the quarter mile/0-60 times etc..from reviews done at sea level. I now can see how cars perform in my own backyard :))

VW Jetta GLI, Ford Focus GT, Subaru Impreza, Lancer Evo, Honda Civic SI, Renault Clio Sport, Mazda 3 Sport, Hyundai Veloster, the list goes on and on and on and on....... All 4 cylinders
Not only is this the best 4 cylinder "sports" car on the market right now, but it looks so goddam sharp. As a matter of fact, my wife and I bought this identical car yesterday. My ONLY complaints are the lack of a moonroof and no leather interior option. Sure you could order one from the factory with those options, but there goes the amazing price point

Great 0-60 TFL. The 2013 Accord is truly an awesome car, especially with the 6 speed manual transmission.
I had a black 2004 EX-L (2.4L) coupe with leather and navigation - AND a 5speed manual. Its so rare that everytime I take it to the Honda dealer it causes circles to form around it. Apparently only a few hundred like that made every year.
According to Edmunds True Market Value the Sport 6M is selling for around $22,707. Remember there is not only supply but demand. And for selling it used the manual will be easy to sell since many yearn for it.

Im on long island new york i just picked up a black 2013 accord sport and i got it in a 6speed...car is awesome looks great in black with all the chrome trim...its very quick considering its a naturally aspirated 4 in a 4 door sedan its really surprises you..websites have it rated at 0-60 in 6.6 seconds just a couple ticks slowed then a new si or new brz and way more luxury inside then both those cars. love ittttt

I recently purchased a mazda 6. If you want a 4 cyl. mid sizer this was the car I prefered. The Fusion is nice but too expensive - in base trim the mazda 6 is a killer deal. The Mazda drives the nicest in the segment, looks stunning, gets great mpg and is plenty practical for my needs. No contest in my books.
I'm not a Honda guy at all and I think that Accord is pretty cool.

No, Accord Sport only comes with the 4 cylinder. I wish they have the V6, But the 4 cylinder is not that bad. The transmission is very responsive, especially in Sport mode. I own a Sport Accord.
And I think the V6 models only come with 17" stock wheels.
I'm with you, MC. I prefer the slower acceleration and poorer gas mileage of the 5 speed automatic as well.

For those who don't catch that George was kidding: A "plain cheep belt-drive" (CVT) gives better acceleration AND better gas mileage than an automatic. Assuming they're reliable, "plain cheap" CVT transmissions will be on ALL four cylinder cars within a decade and will migrate to 6 cylinders cars if they can be designed to handle the higher torque.

Great vid as always. I drove the '13 Accord Coupe V6 with the 6 speed manual and remember yelling out 'woohoo' when I punched it! Settled for the '13 Sedan, EX-L V6 w/nav. Great car! Tame as a kitten, up to 40 MPG highway but when you punch the gas it moves!
UH, more like 29-31 mpg. Maybe 40 mpg with the 2.4 4-cyl.

i think MT is absolutely fun and better performance. But when I am going to sell a used Accord, I will have difficulty to sell because by then people only drive automatic. Moreover, it is difficult to get a deal on MT accord than Cvt accord at dealership, simply because they are not in stock.
As a dad, this video made me want one lol. Why do they not offer the v6 in a manual sedan??

"Holy hotted-up Accord, Batman!" You guys are spectacular-reviewers, and right on-time with this Accord review. The results make me wonder when Honda will AGAIN clue-in to driver's desire for their sporty-wares?? If my money were being plunked-down for the new Accord, I'd spec. an Ex-l w/Nav, v6, 6-speed, & the 18" Sport trim's wheels. Alas. As for the end-result of this test, let me quote Syndrome from "The Incredibles" & say "..Hoo, that is too GOOD!"
And ya that accord looks like a really fun car. I had a really really rare 2010 fusion v6 6 speed and man was it awesome until it got t-boned :( I loved that car thanks for the great reviews!!

I like that Honda is offering this in a manual, but the BACK SEATS DON'T SPLIT on ANY trim level. No pass through. Sucks big time. When I need to transport boys with lacrosse poles (long D poles), it makes a difference.
Yeah. They're rare as well. Hard to find at dealers but a hell of a lot nicer to drive than the CVTs.
I wonder what people thought of when they saw Roman and Nathan (or Nathania) driving in a Beetle... wow.
Sport isn't just about acceleration. It's also about handling. The 4's handle better than do the 6's.
A manual has been clocked anywhere between 6.6-7.0 seconds at sea level.

Because they're trying to make a profit? There almost certainly are not enough sedan buyers to justify a separate model.
You should be thanking Honda for continuing to provide a manual in any model. Manuals aren't even optional on a lot of models made by competitors.
Only a second slower to 60 than the V8 Bullitt Mustang you guys tested..... and 35mpg and tons of space to boot. Not bad for a 4cyl!

Lets keep our fingers crossed that Honda keeps offering the Honda Accord in a manual for many years to come... currently only 3% of all cars sold in the US are manuals. Kind of sad... no?

I'm surprised they're so rare. Do they sell quickly or are they produced in limited quantities? It's on the top of cars I'm interested in when I graduate (should I need something more "boring"/"professional")
I think the CVT would have almost the same time as the manual. At sea level, 0-60 with CVT is 7.5 seconds.
I agree the Mazda 6 was my second choice and a great car. The Mazda is, however, much slower than the Accord.

Manuals are beautiful, those who can't be bothered learning to drive manuals shouldn't be given the pleasure of driving performance, and manual purists shouldn't be punished for their incompetence, YOU LISTENING RENAULT (CLIO RS 2013) AND VOLKSWAGEN (POLO GTI 2010)!?
In the full review test the stereo. Only 4 speakers and no sub woofer....
Like other commenters, I wonder why the six-speed V6 coupe keeps getting ignored in these performance tests. Come on guys, take it out to the road course, take it to the drag strip, nobody is doing that. For some weird reason only the 4-banger versions are getting much in the way of testing.
Please keep buying manual transmissions people, they are on the verge of dissapearing and that would be a shame.

Not true! Both the 2013 Sedan and Coupe have V6, but only the coupe has it in 6MT. I would like to see the V6 too!
The best is the 1.6 turbo in the MINI; courtesy of Peugeot. As usual, BMW totally under-rates the power the engine actually puts out.
The VW 2.0 feels no where near as powerful through the rev-range. maybe they've fixed that with the 2014 GTI.

@icemanroyal long live manual -only hot hatches. I'm saving up for either a VW Up GT (coming late 2013) or a Ford Fiesta ST, death to expensive-to-service DSGs, clunky dual clutch autos, and the moaning CVTs.
definitely the 2nd or 3rd best car in the segment... but that gross dash/interior would be a deal killer for me. Honda's interiors have been heading down hill after about the first 5 yrs they started making Acuras.
