Really, that's all a band needs like you said. People will go to Wheatus concerts forever because of that 1 song, and maybe stay around for the rest of the concert since they're already there.
Weatus was huge in nz too. Good call comparing himself to fugazi you should do more on the relationship between mckenty bands and internationally known Alternative bands such a great country so many good times we have a scene in nz too hiphop made me do it 😁
I saw Wheatus at sort of a surprise gig during the pandemic, and they were amazing. I was actually there to see the band they were opening for, but they were so playful with the crowd, telling great stories, and giving high energy performances. One of the best shows I have ever seen!
Iv seen wheatus several times and their shows are always good, and its a shame that their other albums and EPs don't get the deserved look-in they should
In 2005 for my 13th birthday my best friend made me a mix tape (on a burned CD of course) of some of his favorite songs. I don't think he used limewire Because his parents were really strict and abusive (limewire was my shit when I was 13), but I know his dad had a lot of CDs. Anyway Teenage Dirtbag was on it. I actually didn't know until years later that it was a fairly new song at the time, I assumed it was from the 90s. You make a great point though, that makes me happy when I look at it like that. I bet they still get royalties from the song from multiple places
Omg I remember seeing fugazi play at the firehouse in Redmond WA when I was 15! Also Nirvana, Mud hunny, primos and Portishead. Fucking amazing growing up in the 90’s!!
Yeah this song suuuuucks. And I don’t care how intentional it was for the “aesthetic” of the song… those whiny high pitched vocals are the absolute worst 🤮
Naaah. I'm pretty sure that if they were commercially successful after that hit they wouldn't complain anyway LOL. I love Wheatus though. It's one of my favorite bands, really underrated IMO.

Well, it means Wheatus can play the county fair. They aren’t gonna be selling out arenas with one bad song
@@monkeyballs512 *great song ftfy
A few of their other songs aren't actually bad either, not great, but listenable.
@@SconnerStudios agree, one great song, now I want to go see them play and see what other amazing music they have.
@@rra7490 yeah a one hit wonder is like an elevator pitch

Saw them live last night. They're great!
Did they play their cheesy ONE HIT WONDER song over and over again for the whole set?
#longisland
@@LB00146 are you that jealous of them? NO HIT WONDER lol
@@jr2904 No one is jealous of wheatus buddy! Hahaha
@@LB00146then why are you here on a short +9months old??? 😂
This came out at the perfect time in my life. It still holds up today.

I love wheetus, basically all their songs
Basically, their songs are just that. Basic.
I love their attitude, is awesome and positive
I watched a documentary on them and really respect them. Quite amazing

I love their proscective!
Found the cd at the goodwill like a month ago. The whole album is pretty good.
Thank you, Ray.
Thank you, sargeant.

I have a new found respect for Wheatus
He also did a Christmas version in cartoon!!
Great powerpop track
It was a superhit in Finland.
As far as bands go a 'One Hit Wonder' is very high up on the ladder of success.
that album is actually very good.
Fugazi and Ani Difranco?
Becoming an underground staple is SO MUCH harder to achieve than a few hundred thousand sales
Today's phrase is "cognitive dissonance"
In an alternate universe he is STOKED to be a continuing star.
Nice video title: you trying to be Beato? ;)
Oh.
How humble?Just the career of fugazi🤯
That exactly what Kurt Cobain wanted too man RIP 🪦
Is that 'suck fony' their invention? If so, they probably didn't like being dropped from that label.
MINOR?!?!
Unfortunately however when they left Sony they actually lost the rights to their one hit wonder.
Kinda like local h instead more so on propuse
Fooo gaazy
Ok but they’re not a one hit wonder man.
Wheat us is NOT a one hit wonder
They didnt want to be owned by the devil
#LONGISLAND
Two hit wonder
You didn't answer the question. At all.
Brendan B Brown? No, Brendan B White.
I thought that was a good song
people say the same about devo but whip it is one of their worse tunes
Nothing makes Teenage Dirtbag great
Dirtbag will always be tough. Diaper Dirtbags would be a cool grandpa punk band name.

Kid punk. One step above Elmo Punk.
Nothing. It’s an intolerably awful song
awesome song you mean
At least better than Trapt's song "Headstrong".
@@Zero_0neTrue but that's like saying that AIDS is better than Cancer.
The cope is real
🤓🤡
Not everyone wants to be a fuckin pop star. Some people have values and a punk attitude
Still absolutely hate this song
Absolutely love this song
This song and video are cringe af
