Glad to see a musician who sounds just like the record while playing live.
Such a great song.
@@--Kenny- talk to me when you make a popular song
@@--Kenny- ok kenny.
23 years on too.
For the longest time I thought the singer was a woman until I watched a live showing.
@@--Kenny- that's how the actual song sounds lmao
Good lord that verse sounds exactly like the original recording.
It's unfortunate it was really his only hit cause he's actually a really good singer. His control over the higher registers in his voice is impressive as fuck.
@@Southboundpachyderm my band had the absolute pleasure of opening for them many years ago in Pittsburgh. Brendan is an incredible dude, and they are all so talented. I only knew teenage dirtbag before that, but their performance blew me away and I immediately became a fan. If you want more to check out, my favorite song of theirs is "the story of the eggs" the album version. Hands down the highlight of my musical career.
@@Southboundpachyderm thats why im sitting here im complete aw!! its insane, i dont think people realise how impressive this actually is.
@@heynosjosh that’s totally rad! What an experience that must have been! It would be a lot of fun to sit down and just jam out some “stoned” tunes together. He seems like a genuinely good person.
@@Southboundpachyderm I didn't get much of a chance to talk to them before the show, but Brendan was wearing a Flash shirt and I commented on it, and he was just so down to talk about it. I did pick up Pop songs and death volume 1&2 on vinyl and he signed it "Hey Nostradamus 5 ever" My band is Hey Nostradamus.
The fact that every version I hear of this sound exactly the same is crazy. Dude can sing! Iconic song too. It’s a masterpiece
He was born to sing this song.
He gets in the zone after the first chorus. Love it
he got in the zone as soon as he start playing
yeah the first half vocally is rough, second verse onward is much better
His voice is stronger and fuller than in 1999. Bravo!! 👏
wasn't the song made in 2000?
You think?
Maybe it's just a matter of taste but I dont think he sounds too good here actually.
@@cardboardjase248 that because you like to put negativity into the universe. Literally zero reason to post your comment.
@@cardboardjase248 No need for negativity man, was just simply asking if it was made in 2000... dont gotta be an ass about it
@@AbsolutelyWierdo I was replying to DG
a guitar from 1890, i don't think the people understand how awesome this is O_O
yeah youre the only guy in the world who appreciates history and antiques. thanks for letting us know bro
Guys a legend, saw them play acoustically in Brighton years ago in a pub to a crowd of about 20 people. They just played whatever the audience wanted to hear and stayed around for drinks afterwards, still have my signed ticket!
I could have gone to that gig, but my gf at the time got hammered and I had to take her home, notice I said at the time lol
@@theyarenthere Haha good riddance, Wheatus before ho’s, amiright?
@@thefinalseries right!
Lols hardly famous 😂😂😂
They still tour all the time. Always a damn good show.
They played at my university graduation ball. It was a hot summer night in 2002 and they absolutely killed it. This song will always capture that era for me - the best three years of my life, with great people and my future wife by my side. Good times.
Surprised this doesn't have any replies or more likes.. I don't know what to say either lol, but it's a nice story 😊
The acoustic riff is so deceptively simple yet complicated. Brilliant
he will be playing this in the senior citizen homes when he is 90 years old
I hope I'm there
I'm just a senior Dirt bag
God I hope it's at my retirement home!
He won't
We all will I'm already playing Elvis and Beatles songs in them places and they start out nodding but only one person dances like its 1959 again drunk and on the pills and the rest watch interesting gigs I love it
Always liked the song but I won't lie I was sleeping on how good of a musician he really is
I just love Wheatus. This was my favorite song as a child. I was bullied a lot in grade school so I related to it so much. It made me wear the title "dirtbag" with pride. ❤
All this time his voice hasn't changed and still sounds as good as ever. I'm legit impressed
He sounds incredible. So good.
Hearing this makes me 15 again. This is a treat that some people will never experiece. I am genuinely honored to hear it.
Hard to believe how big this song was in 2001. Takes me right back.
Hands down this has to be my all time favourite version of this song
Great innit? His voice is phenomenal
@@madhatter9027 damm drunk me has amazing taste in music. Was plastered on whisky when I listened to this & commented 🤣🤣🤣 still a great version of an amazing song. 😊
@@adamcroft80 hahaha, I'm well on my way to being pissed as a c*** as well lol. Must be the alcohol that makes the music better lol
@@adamcroft80 Nah it's not, it's a great version. I've got guitar in band but I'm strictly rhythm, don't wanna make it cry or sing
That sound. Wow. Took me back as a young lad.
That guitar tone is gorgeous
his talking voice is way different from his singing voice. amazing song as always.
Such a amazing voice his range is crazy and his Vibrato! Man he really is underrated
2024 we still coming back to watch and listen lol epic!
Cheers 🥂
Probably the most nostalgic song to ever exist!!
Through all my years, I gotta say: I remember seeing the music video when MTV played music, and it was a part of my upbringing. Blink, Lit, Wheatus, Weezer, Fuel. Amoung the best for the time.
I used to listen to this as a kid and I remember being so excited to become a teenager lol.
Dude can sing his ass off. Amazing acoustic cover of a modern classic.
Is it a cover if it's your own song?
After all those years he still sounds the same. Incredible. Love that song.
Absolutely amazing performance…even did the “I’ve got two tickets…” part. Wow.
So great to see this side of Brendan, such an enthusiast, a true blood-driven musician.
Also, his performance is just like the studio version... So much respect!
Brendan is such a legend. One of the most down to earth artists out there. Class act 👍👍
howdy hey what a surprise seeing you here 😮
I see you got a good music taste 🎉
Moment of silence for everyone who's ever seen Wheatus live and they didn't play this song out of spite
Fucking stunning. In the best possible way. What a legend. Excellent work dude. Also, that guitar is absolutely "the sound" of that song. Aside from the vocals of course. Amazing.
Holy crap this was great. Sounds just as fantastic now as it did when first released.
The rythm of the guitar is perfect
This is exactly what it needs to be. This video, formal memories, general awwhhh over his voice. The world needs more of these videos, more of these times and whats to come.
This video finally helped me transcribe a chord I was struggling with to hear. Thanks a lot!!!!!!!
This performance is mind blowing. Just incredible
Dayummm thats some good acoustic cover
Memories. Love this
always loved this song
Thanks for posting my wife and I used to sing your song at the "Crown and hand" at karaoke here in Regina Saskatchewan.

Just wow. So cool
He sounds so good, both the singing and the guitar
What a song! Legend
Outstanding.
He sounds just as good live as on the studio track. This song will never get old!

That was amazing. Sent shivers down my spine. That jazzy end chord was a nice touch as well!
Well I never thought this song would give me goosebumps.
That IS the guitar. Scary how a single instrument can sound so unique.
This podcast is phenomenal.
