Love this guy and his music. My daddy introduced me to him when he’d play Western Textures on cassette when I was a little kid riding with him in his truck feeding his cows. I even met him in Graham, Tx in 2015 after his show at their local drive-in movie theatre. My best friend and I went and got high as a kite and drunker than 10 Indians and ended meeting up with some girls we knew. After the show ended, one of the gals wanted a picture with him, so I said, “well the worst he can say is no”. So I hollered at him as he was about to step onto his bus, he turned around and approached us. I threw my arm around him told him his music enhanced my entire life and it would mean the world to this young lady for a picture. Got the picture and the girl that night. What a time to be 25 years old in north Texas that was.
He's a masterful songwriter and talent as 'Texas' as Guy Clark... remember him my senior year at Texas A&M... he and Lyle Lovett playing around... at the Dixie Chicken and that house on Church Street on the porch... takes me back to Texas everytime i hear anything of his.
As I spend countless hours, and nights, down the UA-cam music rabbit hole, I’m often struck by how much awesome sound can come from two 6-strings and a bass guitar
Love REK.my husband has a autograph hardhat..Robert signed it at a acoustic set he done a book store in ft.worth tx, in the 90...and we have seen his shows many times...great shows.
Just saw REK at Asheville at a drive in show last weekend, and as always - phenomenal. Was jonesing for some of his live stuff today and came across this interview. Kudos to Paste, and big thanks to REK for telling these stories. I will add he was much more conversational and "story-telling" centric in this last weekend's show we just saw. Our crew loved it - hearing the origins of songs helps everyone connect to the music. Thanks!!
I remember at the height of the pandemic, being locked inside for several months, listening to "Feelin' Good Again" and breaking down. Nowadays when I walk into a crowded room I always think of this song, and I smile.
Really enjoyed this. We’ve all heard the term “he’s someone you would like to have a beer with” but REK really is a chill, personable dude and a hell of a songwriter and entertainer.
REK Jr. is one of my all time favorites. Ever since the beginning up until now. Our local funky radio station introduced his music to me when the station moved from Gilroy to Freedom... I thank them every day !
Another great listen of mr keen. I have traveled a few miles, Mentally and physically. There have been many great memories listening him. Just his way. There have been some dark times and a few songs in particular have came on. Something he shares and gives through his craft have strongly assisted in what i had to do , too change my direction too for better. Ty for interview and hosting a hero of simplicity
I first heard The Live Album, the one from Gruehn Hall in about 88 or 89. Ive been a huge fan since. Saw him live two times. Tremendous songwriter and entertainer!
I've just watched and MORE importantly listened to SEVERAL editions of artists playing from Paste Studios. WOW is all I can say to the sound engineer(s) at this place. You are masters of sound!
Great song(one among many0 He's a very personable guy who I've been listening since about early 90's. Saw him in St. Louis outdoors, just as they started the weather changed really quickly to a mean dark & windy rain.I mean the change was fast. The crowd disappeared but me and my friend stayed at front of the stage .He ran out again to get something & stopped to let me take a pic of him and my friend( he had a big ole smile for us) I believe he showed us what he is, a really nice fella . A great band! and terrific songs/lyrics.
The first REK show I ever saw was a Christmas show. December 28, 2015 in Amarillo, TX. I've never seen anything like it before or since. It was incredible.
Awesome love And light Request for my Lady Ann S. Listening as she is going through her transitioning stage Celebrating her love and her life 🙌🏿😇🙏🏿🥰🧘🏾♀️🌷
kc br what he means is that "Merry Christmas from the family" has become the "Margaritaville" of the Christmas season, which it has. It's a holiday classic
What an absolute legend. seen him many times and gets better each time.
Man, I could watch and listen to REK all night long
I often do.

John Holloway Whoop!
Robert Earl Keen, like John Prine (RIP) is a songwriting treasure.
REK is a legend.
How can three people make such beautiful sounds.
I always wondered that about The Stray Cats.
As I spend countless hours, and nights, down the UA-cam music rabbit hole, I’m often struck by how much awesome sound can come from two 6-strings and a bass guitar
After 41 years, I hope all will join me in wishing REK a happy life with his family & friends... !!!
Been a great life with music love it 😅😮😊
I am hearing him for the first time...WOW. Love!!!
You have a lot to catch up on !! He’s legendary! Check this one out too
m.ua-cam.com/video/YBOaNBLtdwI/v-deo.html
I love hearing him talk and tell stories as much as him singing . He’s so talented and underrated ! Continue on REK 👏👏👏
REK makes me smile! His music is do awesome. So glad Paste had him on!!!!
He’s definitely someone I can just put his music in and leave it. His lyrics paint such a visual you feel your living his songs.
REK is my absolute favorite singer/songwriter. I have seen this man live more times than I can count over the years.
You can visualize every song he sings. Masterful storyteller!

Another Santa Cruzer! Moved to Portland 10 years ago but spent 35 years in SC county. Sure miss the Pig!
Joe Weiss .......not a good radio station to be found here. I hate that.
@@randyhospodar8864 Love the Pig still. They are still going strong, lots of REK regularly ! ! !
Richard Brotherton on guitar and vocals adds so much to REK's sound. Miss his contribution as the band leader.
Another great listen of mr keen.
I have traveled a few miles,
Mentally and physically.

Got to see him once, great show he is a true national treasure.
REK and his BAND are a Texas treasure! He and his band started a secondary Texas music revival in the early 90's when Roberts hair wasn't gray!
Love REK. Rich is such a great guitar player!
Rich is so incredibly talented. Maybe my favorite guitar player. So versatile.
Hey, … these are what I call “feel good” songs and that’s always good. Thanks T. Ferris
I really thought feelin' good again was a sad song. That he was imagining he was back home because he was so alone. Thanks for this video.
Always seemed like a comeback story to me.
I first heard The Live Album, the one from Gruehn Hall in about 88 or 89. Ive been a huge fan since. Saw him live two times. Tremendous songwriter and entertainer!
Love, love, love REK! He definitely sounds a little sauced. God bless the Falstaffian man.
Really? I didn’t get that impression. He seemed pretty sharp. But sauced or not I enjoyed it lol
Shout out to bandera Texas my summer home visiting my uncle “the crazy uncle “. My first bar drink at 19 with Kinky Friedman at the wild horse
REK is simply the best who's ever written a great song & picked the guitar plus having the very best musicians with him. JUST A GOOD OL' BOY AGGIE
I've just watched and MORE importantly listened to SEVERAL editions of artists playing from Paste Studios. WOW is all I can say to the sound engineer(s) at this place. You are masters of sound!
Awesome as always Robert!!
Looking forward to the show at Gruene Cottages tomorrow.
Love some Keen. Need to see a show.
You will never regret it.😉

REK is truly awesome and wonderful little trio
Nice intro’s to the songs too
Love this
I’ve got no2 Live Dinner and it’s awesome on vinyl ✅

The best thing in life is to be real. He is.
We buried Mother in her hometown , Bandera . Then went to Arky's afterwards . On that January day, the sun shines down the stairs.
REK looking a little Nick Nolte-ish....still rocking! Love he opens with "Feeling Good Again"
The spawn of Nolte and Kenny Rogers.
Or Jeff Bridges...?
Robert Keen Jr and Warren Zevon are 2 of the top 5 song writers of the past century. No Kinda Dancer might be perfect. And Empty Hearted Town.
Thumb up before I even heard him sing
Awesome love And light
Request for my Lady Ann S.
Listening as she is going through her transitioning stage
Celebrating her love and her life
🙌🏿😇🙏🏿🥰🧘🏾♀️🌷
Some of Bob's homegrown no doubt .....
Robert Keen spent years preparing for that Christmas concert, slowly transforming himself to look more like Santa Clause
Man! Love Robert Earl!
I live in a house in Bandera once owned by Robert. I consider it an honor.😎
The songs are good , but that hair is AMAZING!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎼🎼🎼🥁🎤🎤🎤
Love him!
So Good!
Our legends in texas!
Dan and Marguerita? Reminds me of Johnny and Karen...love is love
If they make a movie about REK then Nick Nolte would be a spot on match for him!
viva r.e.k.!
Bass player level 10.
One question, just the one, Danelectro bass, why? Just why?
One question, 2 question marks, lol
Lol
dude can sing the phonebook..
Phonebook? Wot that?
this is what nick nolte looked like at age 14
😎👍😎
I think felling good again is about a Die ing man
Bad interviewers interrupt, when the person being interviewed is talking.
Where is L.A. Freeway?????????
Kinda depressing seeing him age so much. Ah well, ain't we all ...
I don't get the "like Jimmy Buffet" comment.
kc br what he means is that "Merry Christmas from the family" has become the "Margaritaville" of the Christmas season, which it has. It's a holiday classic
He doesn't want Merry Christmas from the Fam-o-lee to be as cliche - the only song they know - as Margaritaville.
Bruce Springsteen
JM
Omg all the talking ...play the music damn
Wait then music ends up sucking
Nothing worse than when the story is longer than the song
