My family gets tired of hearing me say it, so I'll just tell you: These guys are the best country band in the land. For artistry, performance, sincerity, and shit-kickin' fun, they're the genuine article. No one does it better.
i love circling back to these "old" recordings from turnpike. saw them live for the first time ever a week ago here in vegas and loved it. such a solid band. they sure make listening to country music easy.
"I consider myself a kind of want to be short story writer" Evan, you are one of the BEST short story writers. We miss you already. Keep writing and sharing your music with us please.
Probably the least known and underrated real country music band in America right now. These guys have been my favorites for a long time. Hope to see more of them again soon.
Leland Lawrence also turnpike was the coolest show I’ve ever seen. I saw them San Louis Obispo, California at the Fremont. We got there expecting some nobody to open for them and it was Jason Boland! We were like WHAT lol they also shred live. As you can see^^^
This is my favorite band of all time. I got a notification from Spotify not long ago saying that I was in their top 1% streamed listeners of their music lmao. Pay no rent is my favorite song, as well as A little Song, diamonds and gasoline, old time feeling and of course, good lord lorrie
Only "discovered" this band a few weeks ago and every song I hear sounds just as good as the last one. Sounds like Evan is doing well - hope there is more music in the future; if it's meant to be.
Seeing someone genuinely love and enjoy playing their music is so refreshing. Cheers to the best country band out there, and their 2024 reunion!! LFG!!!
I love this band. I hope the singer gets well soon. I know it can be a hard thing brother. Hope to see you guys back on the road as soon as everyone’s well
When she sounds so surprised when she asks why he moved back to his hometown when the town is so small is typical big city arrogance. I don’t think some people have a real sense of what home is. I just recently moved back to my hometown of 2600 people and would be perfectly happily living the rest of my life here.
Totally understand.... My town is a little bigger than yours (18,000) but I've never wanted to live anywhere else. I've lived in 2 houses, my childhood home and the house I live in now.
As someone who moved from the city to the country (like way out, I live 20 minutes outside a town of 300 people), I think everyone in urban areas should spend a year living in rural areas, and vice versa. You learn a lot switching places.
Some people will never understand, they just dont get it. Living there entire lives in a concrete jungle. Hank Jr. said it best with "A Country Boy Can Survive".
These guys are so talented! True poets that can ride with “The Greats”! One can feel his emotions in his voice and to portray that sentiment with instrumental accompaniment is an exceptional gift! It’s a gift they have and a gift that we are able to experience it! ❤️
Holy Fuck.......My love for Waylon Jennings is fading........Phenomenal song writing, style, sound, rhythm, diversity.......amazing band with something very rare & special.
Simply the best. Evan it’s time you get your shit together man ! No judgment....been right where your at now, keep fighting and understand this ole world needs your musical genius. I can only imagine the music you will write from the last few years on the skids! Hold your head up and keep fighting !
Awesome that they are touring! We tried for 2 days to get tickets to the Red Rocks concert at normal prices! Then resale prices kicked in 😳 all the way up to $5000 for a seat
Wow, interviewer lady? Maybe there are a handful of people who don’t want to pay 75% of their income towards housing in NYC. Condescending, but she has no care.
So she’s been to Okemah but can’t pronounce it? Don’t get the feeling she really knows anything about this band except something she read 15 minutes before they came on the show or what her producer gave her to ask.
When the host was asking about Evan moving back to Okemah while he was talking about Pay No Rent and said “I mean it’s SO small, so like, WHY?” .. she just doesn’t get it, lol

I am saddened that this video only has 3.8K likes. WTF!
Sure hope Evan survives.....he’s way too talented to die into obscurity. His songwriting and voice are what is needed in todays country music scene!
Whats going on with him. Online it says hes in a weird funk ig.

Can't wait for these guys to get back together, and can't wait for more songs about Lorrie!
