  • Asheville-based Abby Roach is one of the few musicians in the world who makes a living clacking a pair of flatware together. Often underestimated, Abby's incredible life story is anything but simple. You've never seen anyone play the spoons like this! Folk Art & Folk Music
    More Abby: spoonladymusic...
Sourced through Tongal's 2017 UA-cam Series Pitch Project, this short film was selected to screen at 11 film festivals across America (including Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Cucalorus Festival, Bentonville Film Festival, and more!) before making it's way back to Tongal for its public premiere.

I just returned to northen Ontario Canada from a motorcylce trip through the usa. Unfortunatley ashville is indeed a sketchy place. With the crazy amount of locals congregating at fhe gas ststions and stores. Its was the first place that we watched ekach others bike while going into pay for gas. Groups of what i could only describe as, definatley unemployable folks flooded these areas throughout the city. Had uncomfortable feeling in most areas. And left sad that i saw no sign of Abby.

Fell into a career while being in essence, a hobo. Almost sounds like a story from the Depression.
As far as buskers go, I think they add to the culture of a city. My wife and I lived near Savannah Georgia and we would go down to River Street just to check out all the street artists and musicians. It's a tradition that the city embraces.

When people talk about capitalism, I really do think about tiny enterprises, buskers, delivery guys, freelancers of all sorts. I think it's very important for people to be able to support themselves in the thousands of diverse ways they think up. Government always wants to destroy the little guy and promote the huge corporation.

Oh, yes, I can't wait to get back into my farmer jeans! I lived next door to a family that had a good portion of their land set aside for a large garden. That was my first experience to having freshly grown carrots, corn, zucchini, strawberries, asparagus, etc.. I love watching food grow. You plant a tiny recycled seed and you get -- stuff!

I grew up in Ottawa Canada.
We have a festival every year called "the Busker Festival" bank street and sparks street would fill with musicians from all over the world.
Jonny Cash played on the street once. Back in the 80s
It's one of the things I miss most about my home town

@@ryanmcewen415 I live in the City, now, but, I grew up in Town right next to here. We have a music festival every August and we have another music festival in which name bands play on the weekends all summer long. I like to push the arts. Arts is where the money is, as far as I am concerned. Maybe your Town/City needs more local pubs. Music is fun!

No buskers because they go to the city!
I honestly wouldn't trade country living for buskers for all the money in the world.
I like my peace and quiet.
      Buskers belong in cities.
