The previous owner of the truck I currently have cut the exhaust pipes from the mid muffler and a few inches of pipe all the way to the back so the tips of the exhaust is under and just behind the cab. If I were to replace the exhaust entirely and got a muffler delete would that be louder because the truck is very loud on its own right now
@@TheZeak24 ok thanks man, I was just curious because I found a really nice 08 silverado with low miles . But the guy said that the check engine comes on once in awhile from the muffler delete... throwing a O2 sensor code. Was just wondering if this was a common issue or not.
Guessing you bought a 2 1/4" piping and used a pipe expander on both ends to make it fit? What was the diameter of the factory piping from the muffler?
It didn’t make any difference. But when I lifted my pickup I put on an intake and used the superchips tuner, I’m getting about 13mpg in town and I’m not easy on the throttle at all
I went online and google and typed in 2 3/4 inch exhaust piping, and ordered 3 feet of it. You could probably go to your local exhaust shop and get it from them too
@@TheZeak24 oh ok bro damn your lucky then I live in Texas and mufflers are required per pipe and cats are too unfortunately but I did have 3 cats on my 2011 chevy Silverado but was allowed to remove the third which was good I guess. I can always put high flow cats on but they are pretty pricey so I just leave it be for now. Longtubes instead of shorty's which I have now should waken it up too which I plan on purchasing and putting on in the near future
@@TheZeak24 only thing I'm concerned with is fitment and if I still will be able to keep my true duals with the long tubes cause I damn sure ain't trying to put it back to a y pipe lol

Your the G.O.A.T!!!!! Sounds mean I like it!!!! Can't wait to do mine!!!
Thanks man I appreciate it!

Sounds awesome! Great job!
Thank you!
I did this to my truck too. Not crazy loud but it sounds good
Did you just do the muffler and left the 3 cats on
What is the length of the pipe you used?
Does it make it louder louder ? N is it really worth it lol
Where you bought the pipe from ? And what length?
Advance Auto Parts will sell you 10ft lengths at the commercial desk
Thinking about trying this. Does it add much noise in the cab?
No not much at all, it just gives it a really deep throaty sound. But like cruising down the highway there’s no drone
Zac Dwyer Cool, thanks man!
Any drone at all?
Any problems with check engine light coming on after you did the delete?
Nope I haven’t had any problems, and it’s been a year. I only deleted the muffler, still have all three cats

@@joshuamulvaney2897 nah the only reason you’d get an o2 sensor code would be if you delete the catalytic converters
Guessing you bought a 2 1/4" piping and used a pipe expander on both ends to make it fit? What was the diameter of the factory piping from the muffler?
Nope, I bought 2 3/4” piping, then the muffler shop flared out the ends and slipped it over the pipe and welded it on
@@TheZeak24 Ohh so it was a butt joint at first I see now. Getting mine done soon thanks friend.
@@DoctorRickSanchez yeah man no problem, good luck with it 🤙🏽
Where did you purchase the pipe at???
What about afm without the muffler does it sound weird when it swiches to v4?
You can kinda hear it switch, but you can’t really tell the difference in the sound
How long of pipe did you buy?
I got 3 feet of 2 3/4” pipe
@@TheZeak24 where did you buy it from
Did any check engine lights come on
No check engine lights from it. All I did was remove the muffler, it still has all three cats
2 ¾ inner diameter or outer diameter on the pipe?
2 3/4 outer. The muffler shop just flared the ends to slip it over the original piping
How you noticed better MPG or anything like that

So is it 3 inch outside diameter
I can’t remember. All I remember is that is was 2 3/4” exhaust pipe
Hey man. Have you had any mechanical problems after doing this? Or anything happen to the engine?
Nothing so far. The only thing that has changed is the sound. I don’t think doing a muffler delete is going to harm anything
Zac Dwyer thanks man!
What about the check engine light???
Nothing related to the muffler delete has caused to check engine light to come on
I've read that the muffler creates a back pressure so no issues after doing that
Yeah I haven’t had any issues, plus I might have gained a tiny bit of power because it flows a little better now
@@TheZeak24 thanks yeah I have the 2013 5.3 l just wanted to make sure before I pull it
Put a dual pipe on it way in the back, (not a true dual) sounds way better.
True duals is the plan eventually. Longtubes, x-pipe, dual black widow Widowmaker mufflers, and 5 inch tips
And then one will smoke and the other won’t..
@@TheZeak24 True duals mean no crossover.
How is that ever gonna pass inspection without a muffler lol
I don’t have any vehicle inspections where I live. Plus it still has all three cats

Yes, it had the rough country 2.5 leveling kit on it. The pickup now has the superlift 8” lift

Debating this on my measly 4.3
I did a muffler and resonator delete on my 4.3 and it doesn’t sound horrible. Just taking off sounds like a pissed off bee. Idle sounds good though
