Im looking to muffler delete, weld a pipe and add dual exhaust tips. However, Im confused on the valve part. I do not want to disable the AFM so I'm not cutting off the valve. So will I still get the cabin drone noise with the valve on?

Nice! I think it's just enough sound w no drone, you'll love it. Let me know! Thanks for the support with buying BFGs, I love my job there making the KO2s & KM3 mud terrains amongst other BFG tires! Take care
Before I totaled my 2011, I had a muffler delete with a cold air intake. The combo of the throaty intake and beefy exhaust, great combo. My opinion of course. I truly don’t think you’d be disappointed.
I just had my 2016 Silverado done about two hours ago. I did the same thing you did, but I kept the flapper valve. It sounds great so far! I noticed the pipe they used to replace the muffler is a smaller diameter than the rest of the exhaust. I see it’s the same way on yours, so now I feel better, lol. They charged me $100.
now that you've had it for a few years, did you end up keeping it or getting a muffler? Does it cause a ton of exhaust drone or does it sound good? I don't want to deal with an annoying drone on long trips pulling a trailer
@@97JoMiller just did mine tons of drone over 80km sounds like shit but low speeds its good when the cylinder deactivation kicks on its whisper quiet 😅

You couldn’t even have conversations in the truck or take it on a long trip cuz it gets super annoying 😂🤣 yeah this seems like the cheap better option. I do miss a little rumble. Nope mine always cranks for a few. In the winter it's worse. I read somewhere you need to prime the injectors, so if you turn the key to on position for a few seconds without cranking it, it does seem to start a bit faster. Let me know if that helps 🤟
Those side steps you have, did you get those for a after market company or did those come with the truck, been looking everywhere for those, I hate the chrome ones I have from factory
Do you HAVE to use the little computer to disable the AFM? Or can you just delete the muffler? I hate to spend the money on the extra step if it's not needed. I drive a lot of long-distance and love to save on gas mileage. Thanks for the video!!
No you do not have to use the programmer but it is recommended if you are deleting the flap valve with the muffler. That's what I was told... hope that helps, do some research and let me know how it goes. Good luck 👍
When I first got my used 2014 I thought it was a lifter or an exhaust leak until I ran across people saying it’s the direct injectors and looked closer and found out you people were right. I spent 2 months obsessing over it for no reason lol
@@3369aaron Thank you so much for answering my question. Watched countless videos trying to decide what to do. I think you made up my mind. Have AFM disabled already so off with the muffler and valve it is! Looks like the flapper valve is unecessary restriction as it does block a fair amount of pipe.
Nope. Also, I've never ran it without the AFM disabled after cutting out the muffler so maybe if I did it might throw a code but I'm not gonna test it lol

I usually cruise at 40 mph and Floor occasionally.. after getting the Range device I’ve noticed better mpg just buy fuel consumption. Haven’t tested the numbers yet to verify though.
I too have bought a similar product to cut out the cylinder deactivation. It runs on all 8 all the time, my mpg has dropped maybe .5- .7 mpg. But less than one. So... to me it was worth the $125 I spent. But I'm thinking of deleting the muffler now too after 178,000 miles. Another video I watched, the owner actually increased his mpg by 1, keeping the resonator but deleting the muffler. So, I'll gain what I lost with running all 8 cylinders. Plus have a better sound.
Hey, so did you keep all of the resonators and just replace the muffler? Do you think replacing the stock muffler to a flow master will make it sound better than stock? That’s what I want to do but have not seen many videos to get a good judgement. Thanks, nice truck btw!
@Josh i just had my muffler deleted today, left the resonator on. Sounds good for what was done. A guy was there before me getting the same thing done but opted to put a Flowmaster muffler on. needless to say it sounded like shit (stock). The flapper is for sound reduction that is it, nothing to do with AFM
It's there to make the exhaust sound better in v4 mode. If it wasn't there you would hear the 'helicopter noise' as some people call it.

What happens if you leave the flapper in but cut out the muffler
Do you disable AFM or not is the question then? If you cut the flapper out you need to disable it but if you don't then you can leave it.

On a scale 1-10 I would say a 2/3, almost non existent
