I just plummeted a 9/9 Seraph of the Masses today and it made me think of you guys! This is still one of my favourite episodes. I still hope to see Sean against The Professor from the Tolarian Community College channel. I am sure that would be highly entertaining as well.
She was a lot of fun. I understand why Spellslingers sticks with the basic Magic intro decks, but if G&S ever decides to do a special featuring actual player constructed decks, Michelle should host.
Orzhov will forever be my favorite deck. Killing you with pleasantness and nastiness equally slowly, just chipping aay as i try to hover around 30 hp is the most fun
Was at a pre-launch event and my friend was losing to another player. I casually mentioned that "Oh i know! Put more cretures on the table, he has many more then you, that's why you're losing." His opponent laughed, he will most likely murder me in my sleep.
You can tell from how she holds her cards. You can tell. And then the moment she started with the mindgames when she only had a plains.... yep. She's a ringer.
I'd love to see a few episodes next season with best-of-3 matches. I feel like the black green never really got a chance to shine and it would be awesome to see 2 more matches between the same decks.
I'm dating myself here, but when Sean tapped the forest on Michelle's turn 2 with nothing to play, my brain kept yelling "Why are you tapping for mana?? You have nothing to play! Think of the mana burn!" Even though mana burn has not been part of the rules for a while now. Than again, I also still remember when instants and interrupts were two different card types, so yeah...
8:52 Thats why you use cards like obelisk of Urd and crusade to make those tiny droplets into buckets and Mentor of the Meek to get a bunch more droplets
Ooh, huge fan of the dolls here, amazing to see Esper :D My personal geek would've done jumping jacks had it been Daze or Seltzer though, my personal favorites, but to each his own, and ofc they're not magic players of the level Esper is :)
"So I almost had a car with 4 wheels, then it caught fire, and NOW I am being stung in the face by Bees!" ~Sean Plott LOL! Laughed so hard my eyes watered.
***** Ah he was just saying that it costs 2 white and cannot use convoke to tap for the colored mana in a convoke spell =P. Either way fun match to watch =D
Zackary Anderson Creatures you tap for convoke can pay for one mana of that creature's color. Michelle could have casted Triplicate Spirits on turn 3, but she wanted to leave the mana open in case she had to cast Devouring Light or Raise The Alarm
***** Understood :) The dream line of play is that 2nd plains, overflowing the board as soon as you can. Especially with Cathar in play. I do guess you successfully played around a blowout Festergloom though!
Actually.. You could play Raise the Alarm main phase in that instance and use the creatures to convoke out Triplicate Spirits. Your options would not be diminished since you could cast the Devouring Light off the 3 spirits you got off Triplicite Spirits due to Convoke on Devouring Light.
10:37 That drawing motion tells you she's either played lots of Avacyn Restored or a lot of pre-Zendikar blue. "At the beginning of your upkeep, look at the top card of your library..."
Didn't know her before but she's such a mnindplayer and a great person. Would love to have someone like her in my store. Games would be much, much funnier...
***** And you're answering fan comments. How great is that? I don't know much UA-camr who answer fans. That's something that makes you even more attractive to me. You're so great...
Right? The last season was only 6 episodes, but I figured that was because it was an experiment and they wanted to see how it would do. Since it made it to the second season, I was hoping for at least 10 :/
Yissss kind of short. :( Guess they didn't have enough people lined up this time around. Would be nice to have another season. Maybe bring back some winners for rematch episodes?
Idhyaa Gaming Or the fact that Day9 stream games, cast SC2 as well as working at Artillery and have limited amount of time. Not to mention these kinds of shows are quite expensive to make with this production value given the poor ad revenue. Unless they have sponsors to make up for it, there's no way they are earning any money on these videos. Just appreciate what you get.
Admittedly not the most entertaining match thusfar. The game pretty much boiled down to Michelle slowly gaining more and more of a board presence as Day9 fiddled through his deck looking for that hail-mary legendary that never came. It's pretty obvious Day9 was trying to be an entertaining host, but boy was he carrying it.
Well it was because she top-decked every single card she needed within 5 turns and he drew nothing but land and useless cards. She was obviously more concerned about winning, but it's whatever
Using a creature for Convoke pays either (1) or one mana of the tapped creature's color. Ergo, one of the creatures that she tapped for Convoke was used for its color, which is white.
I believe I would like the Green-White deck. Also I believe once upon a time it was suggested that depending on only one card in a deck wasn't a good idea.
***** Mardu was my weakness that night. I just had no way to do wide crowd control. However, I preferred the feel of being the perfect monk, deflecting all threats until delivering the final blow. :D
9:18 Usually, I have a Death Frenzy in my deck for situations like this.... and if I had one available, this is one of the few times I would totally play it.
Since this was the Season Finale...which is kinda surprising you guys weren't able to produce more than just 6 episodes. (It's a shame really...the show is damn good) I again will suggest next Season to include an 8 person Booster Draft. I know I am slightly repeating myself when it comes to this idea, but I know your fans would LOVE to see this. You'll be playing Sean's favorite Format, you have plenty of other Geek & Sundry members that could join him (including Wil and Felecia), or enough friends of Geek & Sundry (I'm looking at you Jesse Cox) that I would almost guarantee would participate. Hell, you could even bring back LSV, or add in someone else from the Magic Community like Brian David-Marshall or Marshall Sutcliffe to join in. More than likely it would need to be a Spellslingers Special. Between Drafting and game play it would probably total the equivalent of a full Season on it's own. Or even if that would take too long and cost too much scale it down to a 4 person Booster Draft. Now fans of Spellslingers...keep on Liking this to show your interest in this idea. The more people that back this idea, I'd assume the much better chance of something like this happening.
I like that they do this. It shows how easy it is to just grab two decks and play with a friend. The target audience here may not be competitive Magic players, but probably new players or the casual that has been away from the game for a while (like another commenter who did not know mana burn was removed).
Understandable, but that doesn't mean a casual player would not have fun doing a Booster Draft. You're making a deck on the fly using only cards you're passing from Booster Packs. It adds another element to the game. You're not spinning a wheel to determine what color(s) you are. The packs, your preferences, and the choices of the people around you will sway what color(s) you play. Plus it would show newer or uninformed Magic fans a different way to play Magic. Most people after seeing or playing a Booster Draft really enjoy the Format. For a good amount of them it becomes their favorite way to play Magic.
SmaugUKA I don't have the money or time to collect cards, but the game itself looks fun. I picked up the iPad app Magic 2014, before updating to iOS 7 broke it utterly for me. That was sad, because I was having a good time going through the campaign. Since then, I've done nothing.
That's what he was building up for. The turn it killed the spider the first time he only had 2 +1/+1s on it, and Angel was 7/7. The next turn it went to 10/10 :(
Y'know, I'm going to have to try that hand shuffling thing that Esper keeps doing. I've seen my friends do it a lot, but I've never thought about doing it, myself. x3
This is incredible. A knowledgeable female gamer, quality production value, you can see the card and it's improv at the same time. I watched an MTG championship and that wasn't worth 10% of what this is.
I kinda want to see Michelle vs. Felicia, but I'm not sure if matching the former's head-games against the latter's competitive nature would make for a good show or a disaster.
Wait, she's nicknamed "Esper" and Sean is shocked she likes blue? I loved how it was from the very beginning a 100% fun and informal games, seen both in the quotes (oh, those quotes) and in Sean tapping one mana needlessy, not even for mind games, just for fun. Too bad spellslingers has that few episodes, now I'll have to wait for season three (because there will be another one, I hope).
Disqualifies Sean!:) you Cant respond on someone playing lands cause playing a land does not go on the stack! Great episode, esper is really funny haha!
"Oh, Golgari. All that graveyard interaction? Hmmm." And I instantly thought he'd be a cloaked Golgari mage bringing creatures back to life as saprolings - and picking up a 'shroom off them on the way. Yum (!)
the editor for this show is amazing, 10/10 A+
Awesome season finale for Spellslingers, love Michelle!
Season finale? After only 6 episodes? Who do you think you are, the BBC?
***** Looks like white green aggro suited you just fine ^_^
Great episode, thanks to Shawn, Michelle, and Geek & Sundry.
Michelle ... kiinnotava nainen ... kiva video ! :)))

Yeeee! I knew you'd win, Michelle ;)
I absolutely love this series. I'm a huge Magic newbie, and watching these really helps me learn, as well as get an awesome show! Thanks Day 9!
I just plummeted a 9/9 Seraph of the Masses today and it made me think of you guys!
This is still one of my favourite episodes.
I still hope to see Sean against The Professor from the Tolarian Community College channel. I am sure that would be highly entertaining as well.
yes yes yes
Majestic Myriarch is out now and I got a 36/36 out on my friend with my hapatra deck
Pru-Pruh you read my mind m8
THANK YOU for flipping the next few cards - I always do that in close (and sometimes not-so-close) games, just to see what would have been.
The production value of this show is absolutely top-notch. You could tell that the people making this are having fun.
She was a lot of fun. I understand why Spellslingers sticks with the basic Magic intro decks, but if G&S ever decides to do a special featuring actual player constructed decks, Michelle should host.
Flying angel of reckyourfacerrino
Her: I love control.
Me: Already want Sean to win.
Orzhov will forever be my favorite deck. Killing you with pleasantness and nastiness equally slowly, just chipping aay as i try to hover around 30 hp is the most fun
Esper
I watch this for the Plott.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between these two. Very entertaining.
The editing on these videos is just so good. You guys put a lot of work into them
Esper : Does it hurt ? (exhales) A true dominatrix for you :)
bring this show back!
Is she a voice actress? If not then she should! I just love her voice!
Kor Phaeron Dude...
Kor Phaeron Ya, don't be that guy
I came here to complain about her voice and how someone should give her tea. I guess tastes differ.
SnowZegtBlup She's got a lot of vocal fry
SnowZegtBlup You're crazy, she has a pretty great voice.
Was at a pre-launch event and my friend was losing to another player. I casually mentioned that "Oh i know! Put more cretures on the table, he has many more then you, that's why you're losing."
His opponent laughed, he will most likely murder me in my sleep.
Best part of this episode was Sean's metaphor just building as the game progressed. Car w/ 3 wheels -> On fire -> Stung in face by bees lmao!
I would just like to say that I love that he counted out where plummet was in the deck.
You can tell from how she holds her cards. You can tell. And then the moment she started with the mindgames when she only had a plains.... yep. She's a ringer.
I'm assuming that you like the book Going Postal?
This was one of your best episodes. I have watched it multiple times now.
The season is over? It feels like we were just getting started! **pout**
I just love Spellslingers. It makes me happy. Do more of this please.
Does anyone else find Michelle's voice oddly relaxing?
Bring back Spellslingers, please
"I like to have creatures, so I can feel like I'm microing them" Best quote!
That editor is amazing :P. I want more of the behind the scenes guys in the bloopers and such :3
Oh man, I am loving whoever edits these things...
This is literally the best show on Geek & Sundry (though the others are great too). You guys better keep making them!!
Enjoyed this episode very much!
Did the almost 4 wheel care analogy Sean makes for his situation make anyone else laugh, or was it just me?
"Pizza sounds good!"
"Pasta turn to you"
=o)
8:52 Thats why you use cards like obelisk of Urd and crusade to make those tiny droplets into buckets and Mentor of the Meek to get a bunch more droplets
Sean does the unnerving card flick sound effect really well.
I can't wait for the gag reel! You two are hilarious together.
Perfect timing, just sat down for lunch. Time to get my MTG nerd on!!! WoooOOOo ^_^
love watching these....truly wish you had more eps......just seems like each season is so short :(
These need to be longer seasons. I love it so and I will miss it.....
I really hope this series comes back, i love watching these
that is the greatest description of plummet i have ever heard
Ooh, huge fan of the dolls here, amazing to see Esper :D My personal geek would've done jumping jacks had it been Daze or Seltzer though, my personal favorites, but to each his own, and ofc they're not magic players of the level Esper is :)
That weird moment when you go "holy shit I used to play with her at my old card shop".
"So I almost had a car with 4 wheels, then it caught fire, and NOW I am being stung in the face by Bees!" ~Sean Plott
LOL! Laughed so hard my eyes watered.
Whoever writes the card descriptions is brilliant and hilarious
Fun show, love the fantasy magic vibe of your background. Up with Spellslingers!
7:29 "Pizza sounds good, Pasta turn to you" Was that an insane pun that went unnoticed or am I hearing things?
I love Sean's analogy with the car. Had me laughing for a good while.
We need a third season! I need a third season!
Esper misses that 2nd plains on t3 into Triplicate Spirits :( Fun episode though!
***** Ah he was just saying that it costs 2 white and cannot use convoke to tap for the colored mana in a convoke spell =P. Either way fun match to watch =D
Zackary Anderson False, actually. I thought that too, but it totally is 1 colorless or one of the creature's color.

"So, Sean's pretty much f**ked" made me chuckle so much ksdfj
I love the editor's notes. They're so funny.
These vids are actually a great way to learn MTG.
11:05
helps a lot because my friends and i have been debating about taking out a blocker and rather or not the attack goes through then.
Great show. Great series. GREAT host. Can't wait for the next season!
10:37 That drawing motion tells you she's either played lots of Avacyn Restored or a lot of pre-Zendikar blue. "At the beginning of your upkeep, look at the top card of your library..."
I really do like Spellslingers. I hope you can continue making episodes.
"So Sean is pretty much fu*cked..." Really straight forward :D
Didn't know her before but she's such a mnindplayer and a great person. Would love to have someone like her in my store. Games would be much, much funnier...
*****
And you're answering fan comments. How great is that? I don't know much UA-camr who answer fans. That's something that makes you even more attractive to me. You're so great...
Alexander Storm then you had to make it weird man
carls hatred What do you mean?
MAKE ANOTHER SEASON AND MAKE IT LONGEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!! Love this series, Day[9] is fricking awesome
6 episode season? Are you fucking kidding? -.-
it's like Windows 8.1 to Windows 9

I understand you want more, so do I. But the first season was 6 eps too, so it's a short series. Just be thankful for the free entertainment you get.
Admittedly not the most entertaining match thusfar. The game pretty much boiled down to Michelle slowly gaining more and more of a board presence as Day9 fiddled through his deck looking for that hail-mary legendary that never came.

hahaha i was completely in love with this episode! Had me laughing non stop!
This woman, is a riot!
8:30 Does convoke pays for one white mana as well or is this a misplay? Thus not being able to sacrifice the minion after that?
Using a creature for Convoke pays either (1) or one mana of the tapped creature's color. Ergo, one of the creatures that she tapped for Convoke was used for its color, which is white.
Sean's great analogies made this episode!
The first time EVER that Golgari has been on this show. Feels good
Man I felt like I waited forever for this to comeback, bummed it was only 6 episodes. Enjoyed what I got though.
I believe I would like the Green-White deck. Also I believe once upon a time it was suggested that depending on only one card in a deck wasn't a good idea.
Liked for the editor guy! :D
After getting to play the pre-release recently my favorite to play is Jeskai. I had a hilariously fun time.
***** Mardu was my weakness that night. I just had no way to do wide crowd control. However, I preferred the feel of being the perfect monk, deflecting all threats until delivering the final blow. :D
Jeskai is my first pick... Might have to do with drawing 2 Flying fu'ck techniques in one sealed with a reflection palm and a ride down :P
Jonatan S Flying F*ck Technique... xD; Going to remember that one.
"Where am I?"
"Who cares, let's play Magic."
9:18 Usually, I have a Death Frenzy in my deck for situations like this.... and if I had one available, this is one of the few times I would totally play it.

SmaugUKA In my case, I'm watching this having never seen or touched Magic, but the show amuses me lots.
Lethayv2 Do you plan on playing Magic, or has the shown gotten you interested in doing so?
SmaugUKA I don't have the money or time to collect cards, but the game itself looks fun. I picked up the iPad app Magic 2014, before updating to iOS 7 broke it utterly for me. That was sad, because I was having a good time going through the campaign.
Since then, I've done nothing.
Of course it was random deck colors, but that's why you play green and BLUE. Tons of blue spells can bring that Plummet right to the front.
"Its like being stung by bees!"
*Looks around table for hornet queen*
another good season but needs more!
He could have blocked with Netcaster Spider and with the spider's 4 power and the Cruel Sadist's ability, kill her angel...
That's what he was building up for. The turn it killed the spider the first time he only had 2 +1/+1s on it, and Angel was 7/7. The next turn it went to 10/10 :(
At 8:04, there should be another sidebar:
"Editor's Note:
AAAAGGGHHH!"
She's fun af and a good player, have her on some more!!!
Y'know, I'm going to have to try that hand shuffling thing that Esper keeps doing. I've seen my friends do it a lot, but I've never thought about doing it, myself. x3
The gag reel for this ep is going to be delicious.
I was waiting for someone to play green white for the longest time, and here it is.
This is incredible. A knowledgeable female gamer, quality production value, you can see the card and it's improv at the same time. I watched an MTG championship and that wasn't worth 10% of what this is.
Great series! By far my favorite
I kinda want to see Michelle vs. Felicia, but I'm not sure if matching the former's head-games against the latter's competitive nature would make for a good show or a disaster.
awesome episode, hadn't heard of frag dolls but have now subscribed. very funny!
"michelle goes to defcon 4 and two soldiers immediately leap to her aid" fantastic writing
Well I haven't had a taste of all the decks but I do enjoy playing combos of blue, green, and white.
Wait, she's nicknamed "Esper" and Sean is shocked she likes blue?
I loved how it was from the very beginning a 100% fun and informal games, seen both in the quotes (oh, those quotes) and in Sean tapping one mana needlessy, not even for mind games, just for fun.
Too bad spellslingers has that few episodes, now I'll have to wait for season three (because there will be another one, I hope).
bong hits and this show are a great way to end my day.
I dont play Magic. I know how to and have in the past. This is some hilarious stuff, I just love this show!
Sean please make more friends so you can bring this series back :)
I hope there is going to be a season three too!!
Disqualifies Sean!:) you Cant respond on someone playing lands cause playing a land does not go on the stack! Great episode, esper is really funny haha!
Michelle top-decked sooooo hard lmao
7:00 GAAAD DANG IT DAY9, YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T DO THAT THIS EPISODE
Highly entertaining! Thought I can't help but be sad that Ms. ESPER didn't get to play Esper....
That line about proving his credibility. XD Day9 is seriously hilarious! :P
we NEED MORE SEAN !
"Oh, Golgari. All that graveyard interaction? Hmmm."
And I instantly thought he'd be a cloaked Golgari mage bringing creatures back to life as saprolings - and picking up a 'shroom off them on the way. Yum (!)
