- I dont have the combination, I didnt have the time to "crack the safe"
so with a little bit of brute force thoughfully applied, I opened the safe.
and once open I sussed out the code, so I could if i wish, repair the damage and have a working safe. - Розваги

Great video, Ian. A little nostalgic for me. My dad and I cracked a safe like that about 20 years ago. You have the same passion about wanting to crack the combination that my dad did, you remind me of him a bit. Thank you for bringing that memory back to me!!

Okay Ian... here's my take. Weld the hole up.... stick the hinges back in. Put something inside so it does actually make some noise when it is rattled around and then put an envelope that says Congratulations on breaching the Ian Matthews Firesafe challenge, inside the envelope is a note that says: If you notice this notice, you'll notice this notice was not worth noticing.🤣👍 Then weigh it in and say nothing.... 👍🤣

Video got me pondering, I wonder how a safe like that might make for a kiln....or perhaps a heat treat box.

Just a heads up as you've done it but the asbestos was often mixed into the plaster of paris/ gypsum.
I don't think the safe is that old though, probably manufactured mid 1990s
Just knock the door hinge pins out. Open door. Access contents. Put pins back in door.

I think at only 1mm thick it would soon burn out. But more importantly although I like the idea, it means I would have to keep it till I get around to it, and I really really need the space.

However, note to all English scrappers finding old money; You can send old £5 and £10 notes to the Bank of England and they will exchange them for the same value new polymer notes.
