I love how your process pretty much sums up my indie game development experience. Try something out, get random errors, try to figure out what the fuck, trying random posts on boards, get depressed, consider your life choices, keep trying cause you're desperate at this point, finally getting some progress just before you run into the next random problem. you can attach body parts to other sockets. I had a damaged left arm and hooked it up to the empty hip joint, it worked fine.

A cool idea is where one of the goals in the game is destroying designer duck fashion because the duck doesnt like that. He could set it on fire by throwing his lit cigarette on the clothes. It could be one of those things in games that take time because the duck will have to relight his cigarette for the next set of clothes.

I think you should remove the circle when you're in cover (Or just get rid of it in the hard difficulty), because it is pretty easy to spot the middle of it and doesn't make much a difference than just having the normal crosshair.

Yeah I think you're right, but I just wanted to make it really clear to the player that the place you're aiming at in cover isn't the place you'll be aiming out of cover to remind you that you need to compensate a bit. Might just have a menu option to toggle it if people find it annoying (or maybe replace it with something smaller) What do you think?

This is the part some random youtube commenter points out the XboxOne Kinect is pretty cheap and does some decent motion capture.
It does have some occulsion issues, because its a depth camera and if it can't see a body part its not gonna record the movement, but most of that can be worked around with positioning, some IK, and hitting your head in blender to clean up the MoCap.

That is a good point random youtube commenter, I did have a look at the kinect but yeah I pretty much didn't get it for the reasons you mentioned. Occlusion is a big one (which I guess you could solve with multiple cameras?) but mostly I didn't want to do a heap of clean up every time for each animation. Like this suit was a pain to set up and I had some bad luck but now I can get new animations up and running with pretty minimal clean up which is what I really wanted and was happy to pay a bit more for

depends on your export settings and software I think but yeah mine gave me it's own rig and a lot of pain was caused trying to re-map that to my in game rig

you need to know motion builder or Maya to do mocap or other mocap cleanup app regardless of the device you use I haven't used this device I have used Kinect it works but you need to almost do the animation by hand and use the mocap + the video as references, you should not spend two days on cleaning up obviously you don't know how to do it you are not supposed to work with curves to clean up the mocap, why did you assume it does not require special expertise anyway?
