@Eye_of_Gruumsh • Great idea! Or the country broken into area's. All 50 states would be nice, but likely take several videos. I know about the box turtles that are native in my SE US, but that's the problem. In my state it's illegal to keep any native species as pet's. So I've thought of improving a spot of my yard with a water feature and plants to attract and provide the box turtles in my area what they need. Now I know the part of the yard it must be and how to prep the space. I just wouldn't put up board's.
Good morning friends! I hope you liked this video and PLEASE make sure you watch this video next regarding the right plants to use for tortoises: ua-cam.com/video/AnInZ3Aq8xY/v-deo.html Lots of love, Chris 🐢🐍🦎
Just watched Martha Stewart's new rose garden on Sunday morning ... I would love to see your take on a rose garden with boxwood anchors/hedges ( outside the planks if toxic) maybe lavander hedges ?! It would be cool to show how you can create "formal" or " cottage" style gardens for your torts from beginning to finish?!?
So relaxing and lovely see those redfoots chilling under the grass. Those outdoor enclosures are more than just a wonderful habitat for these majestic animals, but are works of art. Love your videos and all you do for tortoises and animals.
This channel is SO important for anyone keeping or wanting to keep any kind of turtle🐢 And when you were talking about finding your tortoises it made me think of Kenan, looking under all the grasses for his Redfoots. 😂 I know I’m repetitious but……another amazing, informative video. I would love to have some Radiated tortoises in my back yard!! I could definitely do it here in Florida but I’m too old to start now. 😢. 🐢❤️🐢
Makes me even more excited to make a naturalistic enclosure/pen for my sulcata. It still has a few years before being outside fulltime but thanks to your plant video I am already buying and planting the suggested plants to get them established.
Great video as always! I am over in the WNY area and getting ready to bring out all of my turtles and tortoises for the season as well. Also, just recently picked up my first Pancake Tortoises hatchling last week, so I have been rewatching your videos on the little flapjacks for ideas. Keep up the fantastic work Chris and Casey!🔥🐢
Thanks a million for all your work! Our maillady gave me 2 three toed box turtles when I built my greenhouse last Oct. This summer, we found 6 babies! I've learned tons from your videos, and we have some happy turtles as a result. I'll be building them a large outdoor area next spring. They have a constant supply of earthworms and plenty of fruits/veggies since they live in a 30x48ft greenhouse. Their outdoor area will be designed based on your advice. Thanks again!
I adore this channel so much advice is given my tortoises only go out when it’s warm and today is warm I have my sulcatas out side 🐢👍🌺👏out side is the best place for any tortoise my sulcatas love it 🥰 🌺❤️💋🥬🍓🐢🐢
We’re learning so much from your videos that having turtles as pets is a great pet for the grandkids. One can start small & the turtle can live a long happy life right along w/the children❣️🐢🦎🐊🪷🌺🌵
Great video, as usual. I like how you say that your pens are also like "making one big garden." That's a great way to describe it, simple and easy. It did raise 1 question for me, do you provide any irrigation for the plants in your pens/garden? Just wondering about dry or drought conditions. We live in north FL and we often get very dry here at times. Thanks for all the videos, very educational and entertaining. We appreciate the work you do
As always, a terrific video with great information. Your last bit of info has me thinking how to make a scaled down version of the cold frame for my Ornate and Three-Toed box turtles.
I use sand indoors, too, and it's never posed issues. Luka loves it. Digs in it normally. And the sand still gives him plenty of traction, so his wee legs are strong as heck. He kicked me yesterday while I carried him from his outside playpen and it was like being hit by a small tree branch.
Dude, just watched this video and I’m in love with your passion and how you got your tortoises habitats set up. You entirely inspired me to try to build one in the next few weeks. I was already wanting to get a tortoise and was researching on how to take care of them. I have quite a bit of land so making the habitat will be very fun. Thank you for the video
This such an amazing video. I live in NYC and have always thought about having an outdoor setup. When I was younger I had a red eared slider and we let her roam our backyard. It definitely gave her lots of sun and stimulus. I would love to do even better now and this gives me an idea of how a setup can work. Thank you so much for this video.
Thanks for a super informative video! Our 3 year old Dalmatian Hermann’s is loving being outdoors just now - here in the UK it’s finally warm enough for him to get some decent sunshine 😂🌞 All your videos plus the Tortoise Table website helped us set up his big outdoor enclosure. Yours all look so amazing, a proper sanctuary 🐢💚
Awesome video!! I live in Pa. I have 9 tortoises. Looking for ideas to expand our habit for them.We have an enclosure for them in winter but it is small and we separate them to different areas to give are sulcutas more room. I try to keep them outside as long as I can so they enjoy the outdoors. I rescued 1baby Russian this spring, she is in her own enclosure with another small Russian inside this summer. To small to let her in habitat. They do get out outside and roam but with supervision Thanks for the information 😊
Living the dream.🥰 Can you get lumisol in the US? I use it for my marginated here in southern england to maximise the amount of UVB they get on the inclement days that we get in the early part of the season.

Awesome video. I feel like you could have been on tv or something. It’s very polished looking. Like either you script and practice it or you are just extremely knowledgeable and very comfortable speaking in front of the camera. Either way the results are great.
I know you’ve done videos on preparing for winter with your Mediterranean tortoises, what do you do for your African tortoises (especially your big ones) during the winter?
I found a several month old sulcata in my yard (zone 7a) last year. Not a problem to keep currently, but before long I'm going to HAVE to do something better for him/her. Any ideas or advice on keeping indoors or an outdoor pen that would be acceptable through the winter would be appreciated
If I have to make my own substrate bc there’s a lot of moisture in the soil where I live, do i just put the substrate on top of the soil? Do you have to keep on adding? Or is it a one time thing?

Can you do a video of the best tortoise for each state of America? I would really love to hear your opinion on best pet for outdoors.

Ooh, I like that idea. The best tortoises and turtles for each region. Smart!
That would be awesome

Chris, do you have a link for the sulcata house you showed? I don't see the particular one you mentioned. Thanks!!!

Hi there! I have a question for you…what is your favourite tortoise species in your sanctuary and do you still have your first tortoise?
Thanks! That would have been my next question!!

Always enjoy your footages and thank you for your dedication ! 💕

You are amazing! I learn so much every time you post! And I really really appreciate what you and your family do for these gorgeous creatures! ❤
Ditto!

Very functional and still beautiful to look at! Hope to see more like this of your outdoor enclosures designed for other species
My mom has a right zoo in her yard. I love it!!!
Will probably never have turtles but I love learning about them. 😊

Wonderful video. How are you able to have young Galapagos tortoises? ❤
I love Galapagos tortoises! I wish I could pet them 😍
I enjoyed your video on turtles.
I’m going over to your patreon as soon as I get home. Bought mine last night and he hasn’t eaten or been in the sun. It’s cold in my house

I need tips to build an outdoor enclosure for a yellow-footed tortoise. Mine climbs over everything...always wants to go beyond his enclosure
Tortoise pens look so professional. How big is a tortoise pen? Just getting ideas for my Herman's tortoises. Thanks.
I know you’ve done videos on preparing for winter with your Mediterranean tortoises, what do you do for your African tortoises (especially your big ones) during the winter?
should the grass inside the pen be cutted? or should I let it grow ?

What are those yellow flowers at 6:56?
What size, would you recommend the outdoor pen for a pair of western Herman tortoises to be?

Is the electric fence to keep tortoise in or predators out?

Why do you artificially incubate the eggs?
Why do you choose to take the eggs and incubate them yourself?
Do you still feed them or just let them eat the natural grasses ?
