    Dr Rose has sound scientific and moral responsibility. She has no second or financial agenda and has not been "bought" or dictated to or by corporate interests. Her book together with her research has proven to be sound and without prejudice! Her interests for the well-being of the Orcas and other cetaceans is without question and she should be consulted on projects such as rehab or reintroduction into the wild. It is time for all of us to get behind the Orcas and plan responsible and compassionate rehab and reintroduction.

    Dr. Naomi Rose gives me hope. I hope in my lifetime, i will one day see that sea pens are used to help retire every captive dolphin/orca and a total ban on cetaceans in captivity.

    Thank you Dr. Naomi Rose & Howard Garrett. Lolita needs this asap. What a disgusting puddle she lives in. Her hole in the ground has sloped sides and that platform the trainers stand on goes all the way to the bottom of the tank. If 44 years for an Orca to live like this isn't animal cruelty than I don't know what is! The lives that were taken by Orca's in captivity should be a wake up call to all marine parks everywhere, and the people who attend these outdated shows need to wake up. Orca's are not entertainers. They belong in the Ocean. End of story.

    Love what Naomi says but the death of orca trainer Keltie Byrne in Canada in 1991 did make a difference IN CANADA. The whale jail where Keltie was drowned was closed 6 months later and the Vancouver Aquarium closed the orca whale tank in 2001. Now there is only 1 captive orca in the whole country. It's a shame it took so long for Americans to finally come out against keeping orcas in captivity but it's great you are catching up, eh? Good work Naomi and best of luck :).

    Fun fact: Naomi rose called CMA a bad place and said they Abuse Winter, she then went on to tell them to surrender her to the non existing sanctuary

    For Tilly is too late to be transferred to a sea pen. He died last week, but for Lolita is not. She needs to be free immediately along with all the other whales and other animals. Let's close down those sea jails.

    Lolita will never leave them miami and Seaquarium. Yes I think her living conditions are way too small. But she’s been handed fish her whole life for 50 years. She would die if she was released or even an asleep and she could get sick. Kieko Was released and he chose people over his own kind. I don’t think Lolita would be the next great orca experiment.

    Invest energy in actual conservation, protection not those few whales.
    Whaling, pollution and other things are more important ...

    Fun fact Lolita will NEVER leave the Seaquarium. She would die in the wild, scared and alone. Keiko chose people over his own kind. Lolita has been hand fed for 50 years she would never hunt, I don’t think she would be a good candidate for another orca experiment

    This woman is a kook ! She admitted to not doing any research before her debate with sea World in San Diego. She spent her entire day trying to take damning picture of the whales at Sea World.

      Dr. Rose knows her stuff. She has been absorbed in the captivity industry for the past 2 decades. You can call her whatever name you want, but remember that SeaWorld's own veterinarian said on live streaming (during the debate) that killer whales' dorsal fins are made of cartilage (it is actually collagen).... Vets should know anatomy; Dr. Rose promptly corrected him. And obviously you would try to dispute an actual professional, as she publicly opposes SeaWorld-a facility you enjoy visiting.

      Wow Kelly - she has a PhD in killer whale biology and has dozens of scientific publications on whales and dolphins and is on numerous scientific panels. I saw that debate (I have a video of it on my computer) - she didn't say that at all. Who's the kook... ?!

    • @naomirose6739
      @naomirose6739 9 років тому +19

      I didn't do any research because I didn't have to - I know what I'm talking about without bringing big binders to a debate (have you ever watched, say, a political debate where the candidates have big binders of material on the podium with them? No, because it's unprofessional). This is what I do as a day job - I know my job. As for taking "damning pictures," I took some pictures of the everyday activities that were going on at the park that day. If you think those would be damning, that's your call - I never characterized it that way.

      Kraken, or Dr. Rose -- I was wondering if you could give any more specific information about Dr. Rose's dozens of scientific publications on whales and dolphins. I tried to look them up after Dr. Rose said on the Voice of San Diego debate that she had more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, but all I could find was one publication on elephant seals. I did find a number of policy publications, and other non peer-reviewed papers, but I was surprised that I couldn't find any peer-reviewed science publications she had authored on killer whales or dolphins. I'm sure I must be just missing them somehow, so if you could point me to them I would be grateful.
