- Samantha Berg was a killer whale trainer at SeaWorld, Florida. When she left the company and following the death of one of her workmates by one of the animals, she became disillusioned with the industry of captive marine mammals. Currently Samantha exposes the facts behind these businesses and questions the ethics of keeping orcas in captivity and the risks they expose their handlers. She currently coordinates Voice of the Orcas for the protection of these animals along with other former trainers. In October 2013, Samantha was in Madrid presenting the documentary Blackfish .
What is done to these animals is so painful to hear. They don't belong in captivity. Stop it!
Two days ago i watched "Blackfish".My heart Broke.I was under the wrong impression for so long about Orcas Captivity.It's Inhumane what happens to them.They know that they are Enslaved,Obviously frustrated,I really feel conned by Seaworld.And Manipulated by their Nonsense about the Orcas treatment.And i feel kind of ashamed that i whould have considered Going for momentary entertainment at their misery and mental expense.Thank you Samantha Berg.Big Changes need to made,I cant even call them Killer Whales anymore.Orcas are made Killer from mental damage that they have been through.God Bless you for what you are doing.
+Anna Hasioti she never said it was her! All she did was tell her story and then they showed a clip of someone else doing the same thing. The way they showed it, the audience probably assumed it was her but she never came out and said "this is me in this video." All trainers proBably get introduced to the whales the same way and since they didn't have footage of her they just used a clip of someone else doing it so the audience could not only hear it but see it as well. Besides, whether it was her or not it makes no difference! Keeping massive whales that live in open waters in a fucking swimming pool is wrong anyway u wanna look at it! It's the same thing as keeping a dog on a short chain or in a small cage for its entire life.
I cannot believe in this day and age that people think it is ok to pay to see captive orcas and dolphins who have been proven to be as intelligent if not more so than human beings in captivity! It astounds me! X

I guess I was too old for Sea World when I went with my family. I've also been to Busch Gardens and they have dolphins. To be honest I never thought the animals looked happy, and they mostly just look hungry actually. The dolphins want nothing to do with you unless you have food. I don't think captive dolphins like people very much and I don't blame them.
Much respect to Mrs Berg for her testimony. But, honestly, those former trainer reacts once they have one of their workmate died they became disillusioned... But, if there was no Human death, they would not realize how monstrous are those Marine places? I think their mind changing is incredible!

Sad part is i believe this lady the trainers feal their doing good and believe what sea world tells them and because of black fish i can clearly see thease whales do not do good in captive who likes prison as for captive born same as Humens charles manson was born in prison

What she says doesn’t kind of makes sense because, why would a death just make you suddenly realize stuff was wrong if you were seeing so many other things wrong. And she knew about other deaths.

@@melissafeds1344 The cycle she is referring to is the cycle many mammals go through where they go into an "estrus" phase where they are ovulating and ready to mate, and then after they give birth they go into another "estrus" immediately after but it ceases with the onset of breastfeeding. If the baby dies and the mother stops breastfeeding then it triggers her body to be ready to breed again. It's kind of a natural insurance plan.

She only worked for 3 years as a trainer, never had the chance to meet Tilikum or Dawn. But then she assumes what happened to Dawn and Tilikum.

elizabeth carroll Only Senior trainers could actually work with him due to research, and Dawn was there for 16 years. She would never of even rounded up to Dawn. She also lied in Blackfish saying she was the one on the Shamu as her "first time riding Shamu" but really that was someone else. Do your research and educate yourself before actually making assumptions about it because of a movie (propaganda).

Ben Dover But she never delt with Tilikum and had no skills like Dawn had. She only worked there for at least 3 and half years. So she actually can't say what happened when she wasn't there to see what happened. And no, she said that she was the one to jump off Shamu, when clearly she didn't. Next time do your research on the movie.
Cloud Marvell she was talking about her first time riding a killer whale. If you were trying to explain how you did something but, didn't have footage of it happening wouldn't it make sense to show footage of someone else doing the Same Exact Thing you did? It's not lying it's giving the audience an accurate representation of what you are explaining to them. It's funny when people try to say blackfish is lying because they showed some people capturing a baby killer whale...."but the baby whale wasn't actually tilikum" 😒
