- Linda Ronstadt - The Dolphins (Fred Neil) , Hand Sown ...Home Grown (1969)
Lyrics:
This old world may never change
Not the way it's been
And all the ways of war
Can't change it back again
I've been searching for the dolphins in the sea
Sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me?
I'm not the one to tell this world
How to get along
I only know that peace will come
When all hate is gone
I've been searching for the dolphins in the sea
Sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me?
Sometimes I think about
Saturday's child
And all about the times
When we would run wild
I've been searching for the dolphins in the sea
Sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me?
This old world may never change
This old world may never change
...may never change
First time I heard this was actually on the Sopranos. What an incredibly, good rendition of a very sad song.
Always been my favourite Linda Ronstadt song. Written by Fred Neil.
Linda is by far the best female vocalist i have heard. She puts today's "singers" to shame.
This version of "the dolphins" is on her album "hand sown home grown" and it's great!!!!!!!!!!
The dolphins are always near; they are as close to an angel that I will ever see
the best version for me for The Dolphins from Fred Neil !!! Far from the other.... Humm what a great pleasure.... Like a delicious dance.... I'm living in France hello to all !
+FRAPINK amuseuramateur Agreed Hello From California !
Bless you:-)
Ritchie Haven's version was more dynamic & Soulful. This, Linda's is good but syrupy & over produced.
I agree Neil Young is better. Are you still here fapi?
I didn't know she covered this great song. So beautiful, it's heartbreaking.
I first heard this song on a It's A Beautiful Day record, I didn't know Linda also covered it. Great song, and a great version.
nice song fred
I first knew this song from Linda, but never cared much about it. Until I heard the original.
And also the original for a little bit of rain.
AND OMG.
Love Linda and her making me look for the orginals, because the deep low voice of Fred Neil just brings the whole density of the two songs.
Jefferson Airplane covered the Fred Neil song "That's The Other Side of This Life" and as they performed it at Altamont Marty Balin was beaten unconscious by some Hell's Angels. It's on the documentary Gimme Shelter
Sorry....but Fred Neil's singing isn't my cup of tea.
Great song! Just saw her on the book tour in NYC! She's amazing!
Try Fred Neil's version if this song. GREAT!
Good
Well said
10-17-2929 This is the first time I've heard this song by any artist. Linda Ronstadt is a favorite of mine for many years and naturally I was interested to hear a 'new' song by her for my old ears. A good song to start memories flowing. Nice video presentation. Thanks.
Yeah i love Linda Ronstadt
Wonderful, wistful video and such a classic track, many thanks!
+dreamyblue44 yes indeed !
Shame on me for missing this version
Good cover no doubt about that but not so good as Tom Buckley's version. Jumping Jimbo Sim
