You are right about her. She's just another useful idiot of the western left. As more time passes and cultures intermix/live together, they adopt things from each other. Heck! In my birth country, Nigeria, we have a 50-50 religious variation of Christians and Muslims but for the longest time, Muslims have celebrated Christmas with us Christians and even on some of their holidays, we celebrate with them. Yes, we have the loud ones who call Christmas haram and oppose Muslims and Christians celebrating it together but they are just another loud but small minority in Nigeria. It's to be expected and for Christmas, it has the dual aspect of being both a religious holiday and a secular one.

See the thing is, if you take out the non-binary and skintone casting and just played it straight, a Hitler Youth falling in love with a Jewish girl could make for a hell of a love story. In fact, it kinda did, when they did it in THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

    • @zelda4ever72
      @zelda4ever72 Рік тому +101

I was just thinking the same thing. I really think it could be an amazing character story where in the focus would be on "Romeo's" coming to terms with the fact that his new found crush is Jewish and how far is he willing to betray his loyalty to the party, and for Juliet to come to realize that her potential new lovers group is praying for her demise. It really could make for an interesting story, but I really think the writing would have to be near top tier and the actors on their A game to carry the seriousness of the story.
Sorry if it's too long but this was an idea I got very interested in very fast.

I have spent about 80% of my life in non-white cultures. The problem I have with American (and increasingly, Aussie / Canadian / UK) progressives is that they don't understand how to decontextualize and generalize the rules they live by. An amusing illustration -- an American came to work with us in Asia a few years ago, and she began encouraging the local workers to go support "Crazy Rich Asians" because it was "the first movie to have an all Asian cast." Locals stared in confusion, because every local movie they watched was of course entirely composed of Asian actors. The American couldn't decontextualize and generalize the "support minority representation" rule.
And in the same way, they can't understand that "The 1% in America is almost all white" doesn't translate to "the 1% of the world controls 44% of the wealth" because the 1% in non-white countries are almost all non-white.
And yes, democracy is oppression by majority rule. That's why the Bill of Rights is such an important part of the US Constitution, and countries which don't have these kinds of explicit, protected rights are in danger of falling into majority bullying.

No, the progressive only cares about one thing the accumulation of power for themselves, to opress people.
As for the "global majority" I think there is a simple solution the right can propose; a healthy dose of nationalism and isolationism. After all the idea of a global majority appears to be based around globalism, a horrendous ideology that demands smaller countries like Canada enslave themselves to China because they have a greater population.
By merely saying "not our problem" to the other parts of the world( to a reasonable extent; for example being concern about what happening in Ukraine and not being concern that the average citizen in the third world country doesn't own a flat screen TV), we can reject the global majority.

I think the difficulty a lot of people face is balancing pragmatism and idealism. People need to hold ideals, they need a strong conception of what the perfect good they strive for is, would be, and looks like but they need to be pragmatic actors who recognize ideals can never be fully actualized and must merely be pursued. A lot of people go horribly wrong when they either become pragmatic thinkers or idealistic actors. If you begin to think exclusively in pragmatic terms all your moral values become self referential with you as the source of good and any action you take as being self evidently good and then your cause turns into a cult of personality and explodes. The idealistic actors are often people who are extremely isolated and secured against the effects of their rhetoric being actualized and hold people to an inhumane standard, they happily sacrifice everyone around them to this impossible dream.

    "First World" was Allies/Western.
"Second World" was the Axis turned into Commitern.
    "Third World" was unallied/Neutral.
It had nothing to do with wealth of a nation, it was alliances during that period.

I've for the longest time said that at one point the Progressives, the "for the minorities," will eventually be the majority. And then what?
Because, the progressives aren't "for the minorities" they are for the power being for the minorities gives the, They want to alter the status quo, and to get more power for themselves. To them everything is a power struggle after all.
At one point they will want to build up a sense of supremacy within the groups they claim to stand for, in so doing they can establish a justification for why they should be allowed to suppress the local majority. "We should pander to the global population, so we should have more representation" even when those groups aren't actually within the target demographics with whatever is being created.
It's all a power grab. Just look at how the Progressives view Asians. When it's expedient to gain power they include them in "The Global Majority," then they don't back up the narratives of systemic racism etc, they lose their status as minority in the USA.
I know Progressives aren't principled, nor do they care about integrity, but ultimately that's why those things matter. Ultimately "A society shall be liberal, and an individual should be conservative" is correct, because each individual needs to have integrity, and a society needs to not allow the expedient power grabs of individuals without integrity to take hold.
A friend of mine once said about the furthest right party in Norway: "I want them silenced, I don't want them to be allowed to say what they say, but I know that's risky because I also don't want them to have that power over me:" THAT right there is the liberal position. You might hate your ideological enemy, you might want them gone, but if you allow yourself that power, so too will they once they take it from you.
That's in many ways, what I'm seeing now. The Progressives have been vying for the power of the traditionalist conservatives of the past. They never wanted freedom, they wanted the power. And now, they seem to be moving closer to have it. Thank god they used the liberals language to get here, and more and more liberals are waking up to the madness.
What I hope though, is that the return pendulum swing will not go hard towards the Traditionalist ideas. We need a return to some of them, but we also need to leave this power hunger behind. Hopefully the pendulum will stop in the center, where Personal Conservatism, Societal Liberalism will become the norm.

Responding to the first paragraph. It likely is going to be a loop, the progressives will become the new Tyranny. As this is happening a new group will rise to fight it in due time. or its a boot stomping on Humanities face forever. Would have to read the rest of the post.
paragraph 2: Marking people as part of the minority if they agree with the progs is very evil thing said people are doing. Managing to get more groups join the list of non Minority, is building up numbers. It won't be an easy thing, I view it can happen with the best people for the task.
Progressives have been either corrupted by power, or have always been corrupt. Is there any grey in this or is it a black and white issue? Were the commies in the late 1910s to early 1930s principled in what they did? I can see it is a black and white issue more and more, or the grey area is they are way to emotional.
Power indeed does Corrupt, lets say the corruption can be akin to a symbolic Ring. That quote if its true, that is sad to see. Although true freedom is Liberaltarian is the final form of free ideas, which so far is not corruptable.
I agree there is a good amount of Liberals who do wans lots of power. Freedom is/was a lie they used. I wish more Liberals will wake up and give it up.

I’m sorry, but your idea is, historically, just wishful thinking and, to be blunt, can never stay that way for long. Why, you might ask? The described society does not and quite simply cannot last in the format you envision. It is weak, unstable. In such situations, one of three things will happen.
      1. The society will become conservative to maintain its stability and line up with the beliefs and practices of its population.
      2. The ideas of liberal members of society will infect the society at large, and personal conservatism will be lost.
      3. Society will end up split and cease to be a society at all.
You can’t have a dissonance between personal behavior and social/government function for long. You might be able to get decades out of it, but eventually either people stop maintaining personal conservative values or the government changes to match what everyone’s already agreeing to.

A sane person would look at prosperous regions and ask what they are doing to create wealth that other regions are not: and the answer is basically they have more capitalism with more secure property rights.
It reminds me of part of how Thomas Sowell's A Conflict of Visions characterizes the constrained and unconstrained visions: the first views poverty as the natural state of humanity and looks for the causes of prosperity, and the second views poverty and inequality as unnatural and looks for what causes poverty.
