Context: the girl had 6-7 inch hair the day before, but had come to work with 16 inch multi-toned braids and it was clear that it was weave/artificial. They never asked her side of it, she just got to work the next day, and was fired on the spot. People are having their lives ruined for FAR less than snatching wigs. It's actually dystopian.

If her story is to be believed, which I'm on the fence on -- as there are some inklings of credibility within it, namely the friends of the man pressuring him to apologize, there are still some discrepancies within it: such as the two friends not actually divulging their side of events, the wig still wielding its tag as if it were to never have been worn, the woman claiming her neck somehow was 'tense' or muscles dislodged from the man's actions in spite of him being much too drunk to have inflicted such degree of strength on her, claiming that she'd filed a police report despite him not having been charged or investigated afterwards, which points either to him being innocent (or his actions not being illegal), and the final death knell -- her choosing to record this over instantaneously reporting it to police -- then yes, he should've been charged with assault if things were to escalate any further.
I too despise how hypocritical leftists claim to oppose capitalism, whilst simultaneously normalizing a culture of corporations acting as moral arbiters via firing employees on the grounds of incidents which occur outside of company confines (thus, also outside of their authority), instead of respecting the distinction between private and professional lives which allows people to live their lives without a central authority imposing their morality unto them and engaging in reputation-based practices, when in actuality the only basis on the hiring or firing process should be merit - if someone is skilled, hired, if incompetent then fired, and this has led down a slippery slope of companies firing due to political views, a violation of the innate right to free speech.

They absolutely did, and some still do. A friend of mine works at the corporate offices of a company which, while successful is pretty confined to our very red part of the country, and caters to almost exclusively rural communities, being a farmer supply store. According to him, most of the higher ups have been there since the 90s or longer, and has never had a corporate structure shakeup. Thus, their corporate culture is a time capsule of 90s era religious right thinking.
My friend is center-left. He's no activist by any means, nor does he seek to exaggerate or demonize his employers when he talks to me about this stuff. He's not calling them nazis nor does he claim that there are no upsides to their corporate culture, and he quite likes a good chunk of his coworkers. However, he's also been there long enough that he's just recently become part of the hiring process, and the discrimination by the higher ups is pretty blatant. A resume, no matter how good, is almost certain to be rejected if the person's social media profile doesn't reflect a perfect god-fearing christian. Getting fired for things in your personal life is also still very much on the table, just for "adultry" or divorce rather than "transphobia" or "homophobia"
I can even add my own story, as I briefly worked for a branch of T-mobile who's franchise owner explicitly told me that they don't hire women as there's "too much drama". I had only just been hired myself when they proudly announced this to me.
Are these things proof of a widespread corporate culture in the reflective of this? No. It's just two anecdotes from the relative modern day. I don't expect you or anyone reading this to believe me, but I personally know they're true. Thus, when I then see other people's anecdotes of things that went on in corporations from that era that sound eerily similar to what my friend has said, I'm inclined to believe them.

I was at a market in Tennessee with my brother in law a few years back. He saw someone with a maga hat and looked over at me saying, “I just wanna snatch that hat and throw it in the trash,” as if I would obviously agree with him. I just asked why and he looked confused dropped the subject 😂

Hey Dev, is it true that left leaning people tend to be more attractive? Maybe lefties are usually younger, so that's a factor, but most of the evidence I saw showed the opposite. Could you clarify? Thanks.

The whole cancel culture dynamic thing you mentioned and politics taking priority is interesting because I have seen that in various spaces as well. The MLP community for example is something you'd expect the left to support similar to something like a LGBT group because it is indeed a tiny minority and similarly discriminated against for one reason or another (there is after all a lot of overlap between groups like that), but I have seen many a time that same tactic where if you step out of line of whatever Twitter politics people push you're immediately considered "not part of the fandom" or whatever so they can justify cancel culture and whatnot.
Watching that video of the maga-wearing trans individual in fact just felt like seeing a Twitter argument IRL really, I have seen people say those sort of "hate is not welcome here" thing using the loose premise of the values of friendship and whatnot in MLP as a reason to ostracize people many a time. I feel like far less of this happened in the earlier 2010s, people might have had differences in politics and whatnot still but there was much less fandom infighting over such things as people generally were able to just coexist in online spaces. It is all so tiresome as you say.

Assuming it actually happened. It’s wild to me that her first thought was whip out the phone and start recording. It would never even occur to me to take my phone out when confronting someone over potentially assaulting me. I understand she’s a woman, so throwing hands probably isn’t an option. But still.

Maybe they just know that throwing a recording onto the internet could hurt someone way more than throwing hands ever could. I'd take a bloody nose and broken glasses over getting fired and blacklisted, that's for sure.
