Also try to breathe out a bit before you go to breathe in to push any water away from your mouth. It's easier to practice this in a different stroke like breaststroke and then to practice freestyle breathing with a kickboard and practicing one side at a time.
Nicely instructive. I would add that for people that have been crossing hands past midline for years (most people), adjusting to shoulder width may feel like going too wide. Maybe have someone take a camera phone video for review. We see what others do, but not ourselves.
What Iv seen here his left palm and fingers was not straight upon entry and catching. Plus this entry position which parallel with his shoulder level is not recommended for some swimmer as it lead to sinking legs.
You failed to talk about the one of the most important aspects and that is the pull.. People splash like crazy and think it's effective when actuality nothing above the water is helping you move.. You need a strong pull from the moment your hand enters the water to the moment it leaves. Almost all non-trained swimmers short stroke or end their stroke early. The pull should continue all the way to the end of the stroke with the hand literally scooping mass amounts of water behind the swimmer. This ensures a complete, strong stroke but also causes the hand to automatically flick around forward of the head. Stand in a pool of water waist deep.. with you hands in front of you submerged in the water, take a full, strong hard pull. Try and move as much water as possible. The more drag the better. Now imagine someone standing behind you 3-5 feet. The goal is to do this exercise but at the end try and splash them as much as possible. This reinforces the habit of pulling from the very beginning all the way to the very end of your freestyle stroke.
Another swimmer exhibiting an extra long pause/glide with the recovery arm out frt. Causing square shoulders B4 it's catch/pull begins, and the other arm is recovering. I don't get it. Same conception with the new "catch" terminology. (We use-ta say pull, but that's illegal now. Have ta say "catch") When we talked about "high elbows" in the past, it related to the recovery, which makes sense. However, with the new "catch" method, hi elbows under water is suppose to push more water rearward, with the hand and forearm pointing downward. The old way was to have your pulling arm pushing water down your centerline, with the forearm kinda parallel with the pool bottom. I don't understand the error in this, because you still are using your hand, and forearm to move water rearwards. Some say it's easier on the shoulder, but I can't see it. I know, swimmers are faster now, so it must be right.
Helped immensely. Watching the technique and the explanation as play by play really is helpful!
THANK YOU!!: Clear, concise instruction....made a complex move, simpler and easy to implement. Much Appreciated.
i can take breathing correctly in first stroke and second stroke i am unable to take as water entering into mouth. please suggest
Αλλαξε λιγο την θεση του κεφαλιού, ή λυγισε το σώμα σου περισσότερο προς την πλευρα που θα αναπνευσεις! Δεν ειμαι εκπαιδευτης, εκ πειρας σου μιλω!
Try rotating your hips first, then rotate your head
Also try to breathe out a bit before you go to breathe in to push any water away from your mouth.

@WOLF-FF-😂
very good video, because shows the movements clearly thanks so much

The demo in slow mo with the explanation is great. You can see how the catch comes in to play
it really varies in swimmer, some peoples arm is different thus the hand should be at a 90 degree vertical angle for little to no frontal drag.
Nicely instructive. I would add that for people that have been crossing hands past midline for years (most people), adjusting to shoulder width may feel like going too wide. Maybe have someone take a camera phone video for review. We see what others do, but not ourselves.
Thanks. Easy to understand and practice as your tutorial.
the slo-mo gives an excellent picture of what the catch position looks like.
Best freestyle technique demo I've seen
Good video
Please the name of song!
Been learning for a month, it's so difficult! Never realised how technical, and difficult, swimming crawl is! 😢
OMG excellent explain
Thank you it helped me so much !!❤
Should your fingers be tied closed together while pulling in freestyle?
Yes.
NEVER ENTER THUMB FIRST! You will damage your shoulders! Fingertips should enter first and hand should be inline with wrist/forearm
how do we then explain the recommended thumb first angled entry in a fly ?
I beg to differ as of now.
Nước sạch thật. Lên video đẹp ghê
Is it high elbow?
Nice... really worked out
I've actuall been trying this 👍it works for me , I've had comments passed on my smooth style
Nice technique 😍
very good video thanks!
Is this hand entry recommended for long distance or causing fatigue?
What Iv seen here his left palm and fingers was not straight upon entry and catching. Plus this entry position which parallel with his shoulder level is not recommended for some swimmer as it lead to sinking legs.
what do you recommend? am learning the front crawl and i swim
left hand entry certainly not perfect....fingers go above palm...should be a deeper entry...still better than me though lol
Thanks now i can swim
