I changed my swimming technique to a two beat kick and a breath on every right stroke like in this video. Over a 1 year period, about 4 months of the year. I can now swim for 2 hours. About 500m at a time and then rest a bit and then swim again. 20 laps in 25m pool. Then rest. People think I'm a professional swimmer now. These UA-cam videos are so amazing to people who can study something and apply it through feeling your way through different swimming drills. I taught myself to swim from watching UA-cam videos. Thank you. Your channel and skills and talents channel helped me a lot. Hi so I haven't been swimming since maybe a month after I made this comment. I was enjoying swimming so much that I over did it. I messed up my shoulder so I'm busy with physio for my shoulder right now. It's also winter and I used a public swimming pool around the corner from me, so the pool is closed until summer again.
However I was only swimming on weekends..I would go every Saturday morning to the pool and occasionally in the week I would go for a swimming session, but also we were by the beach almost every weekend with family and friends, so I would swim in the ocean top, but the beach I went to most of the time was like a cove, the water was very calm so I could swim up and down in the ocean too.. so I basically went to swim every weekend and I would either be in the beach almost whole day lol, playing and swimming laps, or I would be by the public swimming pool for about 2 hour sessions but I always wanted up being like 4 hours in the water.
Damm I miss the water. I actually went one day to the gym like 3 weeks ago to use the indoor swimming pool, but I can feel my shoulder is not ready, so I just swam one lap and got out. 😪😭 I can't wait for my shoulder to get better.
But what I would suggest to anyone is to learn to slow things down when learning how to swim..that's how I learned. I started doing different swimming drills that I saw on youtube and it absolutely changed my swimming drastically. I swam at the beach once and I swam with lifeguards and a swimming instructor. The group started swimming and they were racing eachother..they swam a quarter of the way and I decided to join in to test myself..when I came to the finish point. I thought they had finished way before me. But when I looked back, they still had a quarter of the way to swim..I was so shocked that I swam so good in the ocean. They then came to me and the swimming instructor asked me if I swim professionally because they don't recognize me. So I said I'm only learning how to swim. That's how I realized that I am swimming Damm good and I never had one person teaching me one on one. I just watched UA-cam channel like this giving different advice and swimming drills and I applied it in the water.

1- Regarding the method of blowing from the mouth under water, the problem is that when I start to open my mouth to blow under water, water begins to enter, so what is the solution?
2- I tried blowing air out of my mouth and it was good at first. However, as I progressed in swimming, I began to have difficulty expelling all of the air. What is the solution?
3- Why do I get tired quickly while swimming? Note that I start out very well, but as I continue swimming, I find myself tired and in need of a break.
4- I am accustomed to blowing air out of my nose into the water, and when I swim in the sea and when I turn my head inside the water, sometimes salty water enters to my nose and causes a painful burning sensation, so what should I do? Is the solution a nose plug? Or is there another solution without the plug?
5- My real problem is exhaling (blowing air into the water) which prevents me from continuing proper swimming. What is the best solution?
could you please specify a video for all above questions?
    Regards

These videos are so helpful. I just started swimming for exercise a month ago, and the breathing technique is something I need to work on. After just one lap, I need to take a break to catch my breath. So, evidently I'm not breathing right. (I'm in good shape, go running alot.. etc.. but this swimming is a totally different exercise!) Is it bad if just start swimming with a snorkel? That seems like it would allow me to keep breathing, and keep swimming without taking break. Or.. would the snorkel-use introduce bad habits?

What frustrates me about swim technique videos is that the body your parents or Darwin gave you will determine how you should swim. Janet Evans held the 1500m free record for about a decade or so. Michael Phelps's head goes completely underwater when he goes to pull with his right arm. I would like to see a technique video breakdown by body type.

this question is mainly for backstroke, how do you manage to swim straight while doing backstroke, unfortunately i use the roof of the Aquatic centre, but the roof lines are not straight so i always hit the wall or rope. When i freestyle i follow the line in the pool to stay straight. Maybe i should close my eyes and use instinct, but i probable swim so crooked i end up in the parking lot HAHA

I suck at swimming. I learnt at the laughable age of 20.
I have to get a certificate of 100 meter swim as fast as possible for September.
I only swim with my head out of the water. Everything I do is bad and I'm out of breath after 25 meters.
I'm trying to learn freestyle but at the second my head gets under water I'm not able to move correctly.
I really hate swimming but I have to get good at it.
I have swam for the first time in almost 3 years just a day ago and surprisingly I'm doing better than before.
I have 50 days to get better so I'm binge watching everything that will help.
Those advices are good but damn doing everything at the same time is near impossible. It's like learning to skateboard while also juggling at the same time

question for the group: why did they change all 4 strokes to include butterfly in each one?
you didn't used to be allowed to do butterfly in freestyle and backstroke, and you had to keep your head and neck rigid in breaststroke, not bobbing like a dolphin's.

hhmm, that is gonna be tough.. core stabilty, with that counterweight around my core.. But let's start with my head position first tomorrow.. i do think i am looking down, but maybe not enough.. and the catch is also in need of improvement.. i know i use my ars aswell to move water, but not even close to what i think you are talking about.. that is gonna feel weird i think, just got to get through the hard part.. And i thought i was ok with my head with breathing. I breath every 3 strokes to not move my head too much.. so i wonder what is happening when i start to do this "natural way of body turning when reaching out the arm" as i usually do bilateral breathing. Thx for the tips
