Albert is a genius and a fine man. My favorite.
What a fantastic player Albert is so humble 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You are 100% right on the money dovac6490. I had the pleasure of meeting Albert Lee on 2 separate occasions. The 1st time was a quick hand shake n we talked for maybe 10 minutes. Then 3 or 4 years later I was at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, California and I was lucky enough to hang out with him & talk for close to an hour & he remembered me (WTF? really). I thanked him for the starlicks video that he made that I learned so much from years ago. Then I said Albert the video starts & there you are with your leg goin up n down and you are chicken pickin your ass off (True story) he laughed out loud and said thanks. I went on to say that after the intro, when you started talking I literally fell out of my chair & my guitar & I were now on the floor. I did this impersonation of him with one eye straight & the other crossed eyed and said with an English accent "Hello I'm Albert Lee" praying to god I didn't offend him but he laughed so hard I'll never forget it. I said to him "You are hands down the best chickin pickin country guitarist I've ever heard so of course I was expecting a heavy country accent & I had no idea you were from England. He said Yes, I know I used to hear that a lot back then. We talked for almost an hour after that & you said it he was the most humble real deal professional you will ever meet & a very cool guy with a great sense of humor. Sorry for the long reply but I had to share this
Awesome country guitar player is Albert Lee a tour de force of some of guitars most technical styles played effortlessly.
You Really know your Guitar Thank you Albert !!!!
Man.... Albert Lee in all honors, we all know he's a beast and I love him but that interviewer knows how to do his work also 🌹
Great video ❤️
Beautiful music note's flow's out from his fingers Mr.Albert Lee.
Thank you for posting
Good lord....love to hear Albert play
I saw this on my Roku TV last night so I came here to steal some licks. :) Fun video!!
Albert Lee .. amazing player.
World's greatest country guitarist - world's worst teacher ;-)
I can listen to this genius play for hours on end but like many other greats, it's not much use trying to learn their style by listening to them speak - they really can't be bothered to describe what they do in any useful detail ;-) Many hours watching, listening, transcribing and (of course) practising are the only things that have allowed me to learn a small fraction of what this wonderful guy does.
That solo on 'Let it Be Me' brings a lump to my throat every time I hear it. - Thanks for posting.
I think they just don't really know how to explain what they do, as they spent years trying to get it into the sub-conscious where they don't need to think but it just comes out almost on its own.
My Buddy played rhythm guitar way way back in 59 with Albert. He died about 5 years ago and they played let it be me at his funeral .A nice touch.
John How interesting - what's your buddy's name? I'm a couple of years younger than Albert but from the same part of London where he was at the time so I might just know your buddy.
Because It IS so easy And natural for him, that he can,t explain It....for him It IS: "just grab ThE Axe And play"
For what it’s worth, these types of things he’s playing are just flat-out not gonna be possible to PLAY for beginners or even really intermediate players. And by PLAY, I mean understand what you’re playing, not just copying note for note. This video is unbelievably useful for understanding albert’s thought processes, and how he chooses what to play. Specifically the section with the host playing a single G chord at a slow tempo-you can analyze how Albert chooses where to go next, analyze how he makes his runs up and down the fretboard, stuff like that. It’s pretty interesting stuff, but providing this stuff as beginner or intermediate material is just not really accurate. These guys play, they don’t teach. And they come from a different era where they didn’t have anything like these videos, they’ve got little to no clue how to explain a lot of the stuff they’re doing.
intentando aprender en abril 2022 con este genio, jajaja 😂
He's such a brilliant and iconic guitar player, it's a shame Albert wasn't a household name. Yes, we guitar players know who he is, but in the public eye, he's an unknown.
and a great voice too...Albert!
Fucking brilliant!! First saw Albert when he was about 17yrs old with Country Fever,
God bless the interviewer for trying his best to get this guy to slow down enough for us mortals to grasp the ideas lol
Nice! Fabulous teacher. Listen once and boom! Hahaha The man can play guitar!

OK ???
" Awesome playing Albert, it's got that chicken picking with blue Grass and Polynesian funk all in one. W Percival from New Zealand 🇳🇿 Gardenia🌺 Band and Rarotonga Cook Islands 🇨🇰
I bought the companion book years ago/thanks so much for sharing so I can finally watch the examples
An absolute Joy ,Love this video so inspired by it ,Thanks
I don’t understand how the interviewer dares to say that Albert’s technique is “ rudimentary “ ??? Wtf?? He could never even play half the quality and speed it takes to play like Albert.
Amazing musician of all times.
Because it doesn’t have a lot of key changes and tempo switches, people are quick to call something rudimentary. But they fail to take into account nuance and feeling, and the skill it takes to play those phrases.
Yeah what a moron he is.
I think he meant rudimentary in a technical way, as in the chord changes and technique, but he did mention the blazing speed and efficiency of alberts playing. Why get so offended?
Dude, The guy was not being disrespectful. A piano player can play that chord idea very easily, it is a rudimentary technique. Albert is a guitar god, obviously. The guitar is a complicated instrument because of the picking, some ideas are harder to apply on the guitar than on other instruments.
watching the bass players face in that intro was worth the price of admission
Excellent
Brilliant
He was in fire 🔥 here.
Some great guitarists are great teachers too, it’s fair to say that Albert isn’t, but everyone has their weaknesses. Still love him!
Playing is so easy for him, that he just says : "I just let myself go away"
The bass player reminds me to Herman Munster. Btw. awesome band
That jam at the end 1:03:00 is great!
Jam and cheese
Fluid playing incredible. Clean no effects maybe a bit of compression. Lightening.
Frankenstein brother on bass guitar.
Even worse
Funny, and a great player for Albert.
My first thought! 😝🤣😝
Yo lo admiro mucho, junto con Vince Gill
Albert doesn’t seem very enthusiastic
In this video, but its a good insight into a great player.
Around 1:01:00 you can see that Albert just wants to play
a very unique player especially in his soloing. i got the vid and its hard to emulate this style/
Is this a DVD that i can purchase someplace?
23:05 escala mixolidia con cromatismos (b3 y 7)
Is there a part 2?
I believe Danny Gatton played that way. Right hand pick and fingers. A play on banjo pickin.
They all learned it from James Burton
Part 2 not available?
This is so difficult to communicate and get right answer from people who have been learned naturally what they had thats why he can’t explain how he has learned
give some props to "Frankenstein's Brother" on bass! Moves just like if Frankie played bass, looks like 'em too!
Sterling Ball on bass. He designed the Music Man guitar Albert is playing
Nice video thanks.
Who is the guy interviewing Albert?
Steven Seagal
No, no it's not Seagal
What type of guitar is that?
Anyone know what make is that accoustic
Looks like a Martin 000 18, although it has non-standard diamond-shaped position markers rather than the usual circular dots. Certainly mahogany body with a spruce top.
How many times the guy asked "please, slower"

Bad Ass Guitar Player
4:48 the start
I love this but the interviewer is so bad... poor guy could barely keep up with Albert's playing as he saught to give commentary... nice chap. Someone with Rick Beato's knowledge may have been able to talk us through this great players - playing.
I disagree. The interviewer was more or less forced into drawing useful information from Albert, whose didactic skills are - how shall I put it - slightly less spectacular than his picking prowess. This is often the case with exceptional musicians who needed no more than raw talent to get where they got. There are of course exceptions to the rule: ua-cam.com/video/rqqbFmgOFHs/v-deo.html but then, Danny was and always will be the greatest guitarist of all time.
i can even hear mark knopfler taste here ! specially in let it be me solo i mean it's just a genius thing by lee but at the same time worst teacher !
He ain’t good lookin but he sure can play!
I think he looks very cool
Better then Elvis 😂... but still good
come on that soloing at the beginning was just a bunch of random notes. Flame away.
The guy is doing a great interview, but forget it he doesn't know how to teach. It's ridiculous.
Albert Lee definately a great guitar player, but singer he ain't
Torben Christensen go check is latest interview for Anderson’s guitar center... in the end of the video, he sing and play piano.. mindblowing
He sings wonderfully!!!!!!
Don't agree..love his singing.
The interviewer is very annoying keeps interrupting to much
