I also have a 2021 LS 500 and love it. I've had 5 LS's over the years but this is by far my favorite. I thought I would be disappointed by the V6 twin turbo, but the power and smooth pickup is such a pleasure to drive and there is nothing disappointing about it. I definitely think the body style is the best looking style the LS has ever had.
I was considering to upgrade my 2019 ES300h UL that I bought brand new 2 years ago (put around 63K km) to a slightly used LS. I've had 0 problem so far with the ES except for some rattling noises on the passenger side (barely noticeable and got used to it that I don't notice it anymore) and the car is smooth as butter (plenty of power for everyday driving with the hybrid powertrain). You have made some great points in this video and I will definitely wait for the newer LS models
Thanks. I have actually considered the ES hybrid because my driving turned so much into city driving that I would benefit from a hybrid. The ES and LS are practically twins LOL - for 2022 the ES gets a touchscreen too which is nice.
Aussie here. I’ve owned my LS500h for 4 years. It replaced a LS600hL that I owned for 5 years. The 500 looks great, drives really well and has enough tech for me. But the 600’s power train (5 litre V8) was way better. It was smooth, responsive and fast. The 500 is fast too, but way too noisy and the V6 is raspy with too much vibration for an LS. I think Lexus needs to go back to the V8 or switch over to a full electric for any future LS’
Hi! Yep the powertrain in the LS500 is not smooth at all. I recently traded my LS500 in for an ES300h hybrid. Less power but so much better in the city, it reacts faster, smoother, torquey off the line etc. I wish Lexus didn't make the powertrains suck because otherwise the LS is a great car. V8's are dead so our only hope is a better V6 hybrid model, which you're not super impressed with. I don't really want a full battery EV so I think I'm going to be stuck in a few years.
@@InternetDude v8 is dead because customers like you put up with this kind of krap from car companies....so you are part of the problem...a car at this price point you should NOT have any of these issue....especially from Lexus...
Beautiful car, the new LS is definitely my dream car after the LC500. I have a glacier frost mica 2006 Lexus IS 350 with the top luxury package from that year and it's held up great to this day. 160K KM strong and nothing but basic maintenance.
Nice! I talked to a NX owner the other day, he's just out of warranty 80K km. He's had zero issues whatsoever. The LC is an amazing car and I think it will be one of those cars that is an investment, I think it's value will climb over time.
@@InternetDude Hi InternetDude - I agree with you about the LC500. I own a 2021 LC500 convertible, and the sound from that naturally aspirated V8 is absolutely glorious. Many people knock its infotainment system, but when one gets used to it, it’s no big deal. The LC will be a true classic.
Have the 2020 LS500 F Sport in atomic silver, 2 wheel drive. So quick, so smooth, and so competent and tight in the twisties!!! Longer wheel base, but much faster and much better handling than my ‘08 LS 460, which I dearly loved btw. Lexus has evolved and I’m grateful!
Thanks for the update. I am trading in my Tesla Model 3 tomorrow for a ‘21 LS500. I will miss autopilot, but plan on keeping this ‘21 until the new LS500 model comes out. Hopefully with the new UI and all the bugs worked out of Teammate. I spoke with a friend today who has both a Lexus ES and a Model S and asked if I was doing the right thing switching from Tesla. He said he wouldn’t buy another Tesla just for inconvenience on road trips. Unfortunately, I have found a few places I need to travel for my business that I can’t take the Tesla because of lack of chargers. I will miss the crazy acceleration, but the massaging seats and air suspension should help soothe that loss :)
Teslas are fun but there are compromises like repairs, charging, and quality. Not to mention their customer service isn't that great. In hindsight I should have treated my Tesla as the second car not my primary car, and should have taken a gas car for all road trips. If I had treated my Tesla like the backup city car it was I think I would have had a slightly better experience. But you shouldn't have to do that when you spend 6 figures. Let me know how it goes with the '21 LS.
I don't "impulsively" buy anything but did look at the then new LS500 just before the pandemic. I was puzzled by the complexity of the then new to me drive train tech. I didn't find the exterior styling at all appealing, though something of an improvement over the LS460. Though I didn't find the seats uncomfortable, I thought the glitzy, complex interior styling was horrible and some of the switches poorly placed. I was happy to leave the dealership and return to my '98 LS400. It may be old now but its lines and interior are pleasing to the eye and it remains a joy to own and to drive. Everything works and it hasn't been to a dealership since shortly after purchase. In my view, concerning the LS series, Lexus has lost its way.
I really liked the exterior of the LS500, it really brought the LS into the modern era. I didn't like the powertrain, any previous LS has a much better powertrain.
this car is just so elegantly agressive ,i cant really discribe it.You had a few issues wich is to be expected in such complex car but i believe you just got unlucky with this car , anyways glad to hear that the so famous Lexus customer service was there for you
Hey there. Love your channel. I'm honestly surprised that you had any issues at all with your Lexus. So far we have owned a 2008 ES350, 2013 Rx350, 2020 Camry, 2021 Rav4 and a 2021 Venza and the only repairs we've ever had to make on a toyota/lexus product was a water pump, a rubber boot and a headlight which all occured on the ES after 100,000 miles or so. It's interesting to hear you mention the memory seat function not working on the passenger side. When we picked up our new Toyota Venza Limited we thought the seat memory didn't work at first but there is a calibration procedure that you need to perform first. You have to move the seat as far as it will go in each direction before the memory option will work. Kind of weird but it very well may be the same on your car. Thanks for the videos and for keeping it real!
Thanks for the comment. The tech told me the seat buttons were working right, so I'm not sure why they didn't work for me but they did work when I tried them again after the service visit.
I have a 2018 hybrid version with 27k miles. Bought it used. Had to get the HUD replaced due to blurriness still under warranty. Feels not as floaty as my old 2010 LS 470 maybe due to run flat tires? There’s a bit of small parts rattling around when the rear center console is down with no one sitting in the back. It has luxury package with the screen on the center console so it’s quite heavy. Also some heat is noticeable on the bottom side of the rear center console when the screens been on. No big deal just minor complaints. Overall love the car so far.
Great info! Yes the run flat tires are stiffer so the ride is not as cushy as older LS's. I wish I had the hybrid version but I'd rather have a plugin hybrid version. I think at some point Lexus will offer plugin versions of everything but we're still a few years away from that...
I’m in my early 30s and my dad says that this car is for grandpa’s LOL I’m not a grandma or even a mom yet but I sure am looking at getting one. I have had a Lexus since I was 20 and at 32, it’s time I get the LS. I’ve gone through the ES, the IS, and the GS. I love the GS but WOW I absolutely love the LS460 + LS500z thank you for this video
Nice to see an LS update. Glad to hear the coolant & smoke is nothing major - trim pieces being loose and air bladder sounds aren't really huge issues since dislodged foam and expanding/contracting plastic pieces in trim can cause an occasional squeak & rattle which disappears as temperatures change. So what you're saying is the upcoming NX 450h+ PHEV could be in the cards then?
It's amazing no matter the significant issues a Lexus model may have. Lexus lovers in the comments; will marginalize such issues as no biggie. I'm like....really?
Hello. Thanks for pointing out the maintenance. I am planning on trading my Tesla S for LS500 for a few reasons. I have been very happy with the Model S for the following reasons, handling, looks, reliability, cargo room especially with rear seats folded i even haul wood for minor woodwork. I am however not very please with comfort of the car. The car is not uncomfortable but i would prefer better seat comfort especially for back seats. I get about 265 miles range but for long distance riding especially out of states i use my MDX. ModelS is holding its resale value really well. And i can sell the car today for almost what a paid for 3 years ago. If i were to switch to an internal combustion engine, LS500 would probably be my only choice as reliability is very important to me and I would like to keep my cars for at least 6-8!years. The only thing i have done for the model s is change tires. Breaks are usually good for 100k miles due to regenerative breaking and the motor has no maintenance. With the arrival time of EVs with better range i am not sure if my car would be worth a lot in the future.
I traded a Model S in for this car. My only regret was not doing it sooner. The LS is better in every way except acceleration power and tech. It rules in build quality, comfort, luxury, features, range, reliability, etc. I would not go back to Tesla after my experience, see some of my other videos.
I love the idea of a big luxury sedan, I own a 2018 genesis G90. But for the money of a new LS500 I would be looking at a new fully loaded Audi A6 Allroad. I’ve never driven one but from what I’ve heard the ride is incredibly luxurious. Plus the practicality of the hatchback makes it a win over the Lexus in my opinion.
I've been considering Genesis. Are they very problematic? I don't want anything with a turbo anymore. Plugin hybrid first choice, regular hybrid second choice, EV third choice, don't want regular gas car again.
@@InternetDude I bought my genesis used in 2020 with 17k miles, it is the v8 awd. I live in an area with harsh winters. The only problem it had was the battery died when I left it parked outside in the cold for a couple days. I got it replaced at the dealership for 300$. After that I’ve left it outside on multiple occasions and have never had that problem again. Other than that one instance it’s been solid. The Audi allroad I suggested is a mild hybrid. Apparently even though it has a turbo v6 the hybrid system makes up for the lag of the turbos. I just suggest it because I seem to have similar values to you when car shopping. If I could afford it I would seriously look into the a6 allroad.
I just bought a LS500 2020 inspiration series Black on Black with 30k Miles - it has Executive Package and for 53k$$ I could have bought a brand new ES but I think I made the right decision :)
I bought a Lexus LS 430 new, 2004. It remains a great car. I would like to replace it with a new LS, but the new cars do not feel as quiet and solid as the LS 430. However, the modern electronics are amazing and the primary reason I want to upgrade.
I have a super clean 2001 S500 sedan (2nd owner) with very low miles; it's lovely and does about 25 mpg on the freeway but around town it's not great. I've thought about the LS500 as a replacement in a few years (although as an empty-nester I may go with the LC500 instead). These cars seem to be far less costly to operate than their MB counterparts. $99 for the "small" service? Unbelievable!
@@InternetDude After a certain age though (surprisingly not long given the quick depreciation) the anticipated svc cost pencils out okay as long as you've got the creature comforts you want on the options list of the one you buy. That said, I have the pre-midlife-revision of the "most computerized" and most "Chrysler-ized" S Class - the one everyone says are horridly expensive and to stay away from, esp. if they have the hydropneumatic ABC suspension (which mind does). When I bought it, I put about $3k in big/full service, trans/ABC/brake flush, new brakes, new tires, and 2 new front ABC struts. Mine has every option and the only one that doesn't work is the heated steering wheel, which is useless anyway. I just had it in for an oil change, after a year and a bit over 15000 miles, and that plus a marker light are the only money I've spent so far. If this is "terribly unreliable / high cost of ownership", then I suppose I'm something of a fan - and so's my pocketbook! Here's to continued good luck!
Just started considering buying one; I'm looking into repair costs and frequency. I figured the money for a new Crown Platinum I could get a used LS500.
VW/Audi turbo engines do the exact same thing. Mercedes engines too. Coolant likes to disappear without a trace of a leak, and no signs of a blown head gasket.
@@sonypd9842 No. Coolant level getting lower very slowly over time, and there are no leaks whatsoever. You can do a coolant pressure test and it will pass.
I ordered my LS 500 with everything I wanted. This was our fifth Lexus and the only one that we have had problems… both seats have been replaced because of the bladder on the massage…. The fuel pump was put in improperly which affected the gas gauge which meant I had to take it back.to fix that.I just had them ( lexus) just did a software update service for phone & WIFI total miles 20,969 have gotten 27 miles to a gallon. Would I spend another $100,000 + not on a first year change .The closes Lexus dealership is a four hour 200 mile around trip
Thanks for the info. After my experience I wouldn’t buy a first year Lexus again, I had higher expectations. The fuel pump problem was on millions of Toyota and Lexus vehicles so that wasn’t a first year problem.
@@InternetDude By putting the pump in wrong another 4 hours and another 200 hundred miles …yes I understand mistakes are made but they knew where I lived.
Questions; About the massage seats, Do u use it often? how many times per week & how does the air bladders work? does it squeeze both side with vibration motors or just air bladders? How is wind noise on highway? Are you looking to add any accessories in the future to the LS? Thanks for making the video and answer our questions. Look forward to your future videos, keep up the hard work! Cheers!
Hi, I use the massage seats almost every time I drive it. Sometimes I don't drive the car for a week or two (I many multiple vehicles) and then I will drive it every day so hard to say on usage. The air bladders are in the centre portion of the seat, there are multiple "bumps" that provide the massage, it does not use vibration or the side bolsters. I have an image of the massage points in the video for details. Wind noise on the highway is good. The car has active noise cancellation inside and is quieter than my more expensive Tesla Model S I used to have. I am not planning any additional accessories but check out my channel I have a video on the accessories I already added (last year). Cheers!
Going to replace our 2006 RX400h with a RAV4 Prime by next march. Sad that Lexus is waiting way too long with Plug Ins, while Toyota seems confident enough to finally switch over to full EV with the bZ Series...
Rumor has it Lexus will unveil a full EV within 4-6 months. Toyota/Lexus in general is very slow to make big changes, that's how they operate. I also have the RAV4 Prime and it's a huge winner, Lexus really needs to step up their powertrains (PHEV + BEV) and the screen infotainment. The new Lexus NX for 2022 is a home run hit and I hope they quickly expand the goodies from that to the entire lineup. I have been eyeing up the BMW PHEV options but at the end of the day they have the reliability of a BMW... I really wish Lexus would speed up PHEV rollout on their models as I'm not overly interested in crossovers & SUVs (the R4P is my wife's vehicle).
on Rav4 PRIME: it's not like you "burn a little gas" on the highway, and scoot on electricity in town. The highway gas milage of plugin hybrid is _worse_ than the regular gasoline variant. You are logging around a bigger battery + a gas-burning engine... that extra weight will hurt your MPG.
The highway mileage is slightly worse than the regular hybrid, yes. Overall PHEV is still better than an BEV or regular gas car for a variety of reasons though.
I’m always frustrated with how luxury cars are become sports cars. I don’t buy a luxury car for stiff suspension. Lexus is hardly the worst offender. Just look at the German brands. You have to basically buy a Maybach to get anything plush. Genesis is really the only luxury car brand left that understands that it’s about comfort, not handling or road feel. You don’t buy a luxury car so you can feel like you’re on the Indianapolis 500. You buy one because they comfortable, convenient and relaxing. I miss the velour interiors. Those were comfortable. A sports car with leather seats is not a luxury car,
You nailed it! I agree, it's hard to buy a true luxury car nowadays. Genesis is about the best for straight comfort, aside from crazy cars like Rolls / Bentley. I blame automotive journalists and "UA-cam" car reviewers. They always want everything sporty but they don't actually keep and drive cars on their own, they always have new cars every week. Lexus should have asked actual LS buyers what they wanted in the new one, it is for sure way too sporty and not what typical LS buyers want. Sales are embarrassingly low.
@@InternetDudeI agree with you about the magazine and internet influence on the automakers- they’re forgetting who their market is. That’s also the reason why every car is now coming with 20” or greater wheels, and then they have to spend another $3-5k on a suspension system to make up for the harsh ride from low profile tires! I don’t want my dash to look like someone found iPads on sale and stuck a couple on the dash, don’t want a panoramic roof, don’t want low profile tires. I also don’t need four wheel steering. There’s a reason why these cars are now pushing $100k and are no longer dependable. I’m leasing until this tech settles down.
Try the 2024 BMW 760. Completely different type of BMW. I owned 6 LSs from 1997 to 2010 models. And two earlier 7-series. New BMW rides like a Rolls. Trickle down engineering.
Drop in coolant levels and white smoke is scary. I have a 2008 Gs350 with over 350,000km and I've been itching to get the LS, but this review scares me - maybe I should look for the last gen with V8s. Once I buy a car I drive it to the ground, so need something as comfortable as ever.
The coolant level has been fine so I'm not worried about that anymore. Many people are happy with the LS500. I'm going to go hybrid next, I have an ES300h on order. Touchscreen for 2022!
hybrid model is even more complex... I hope not CVT... I am looking at one of the older models LS460.... Found one and the only messy things I know about those is the suspension and breaking system will trash themselves over time. Other than that the V8s are very much reliable but expensive as an overall car to fix without warranty so buying a warranty from a company third party may be a must for those who are salary but not 6 figures and hourly but not on the clock all the time.
Hi, I have hybrid version of ls500. It is more efficient however, I did not like the lagging. I will never buy a hybrid. may be this is because I am younger (33 yo as of 2021) and like more fast.Your car looks so elegant btw.
I’ve really thought about my next car the last month or so and I just can’t buy another LS mainly due to the lag, it’s just unacceptable. I’m not ready to go back to full EV.
Have a 2020 LS500, F Sport two wheel drive and I’m here to tell you, it’s solid and very quick off the line, pulls hard up through the century mark and there’s no hesitation. In Atomic Silver it’s long, lean, and looks fast sitting still😂 - absolutely love it!!
I mainly give credit to the 10 speed transmission that lets the engine rev really low on the highway. I should be doing more highway driving in the next year so I expect the overall MPG to improve a bit.
I have. 2022 LS500 Luxury version. I had a LS460. I am a Lexus Lover for sure. But I have to honestly tell you, I may not go back and buy a LS500 again. I bought my new one in December 2022 spending $104K with all options available. I am shocked to realize in May 2023, the resale value is $79500! Horrible. I never had such a steep depreciation with any of my Lexus. Also I hate the dip chrome wheels that can’t be repaired if you get a curb scratch. LS500 is a great car but the cons keep me stay away from this version in future. I am ready to trade in the LS500 for soon coming LX700H. 6:10
I traded my LS500 in for a new ES300h hybrid. I wanted new and the LS is too much $ for what you get IMHO. The LS500 is a better buy used, yes the depreciation is harsh!
The LS 430 was the peak of the LS line - possibly the finest luxury car to be found, still today. Things seemed to slide downhill for the LS's since, & this LS 500 has too much complexity & too much that can go wrong.
I agree 100%. The LS430 was the absolute best LS of all time. I would not recommend the LS500 and I'm not sure they will get it right next time either (next generation). I found out you can put in a modern stereo in the LS430 with Apple CarPlay so that would really bring that car up to modern standards easily.
Hey DAVE!! In fact I traded this off for a Lexus ES hybrid earlier this year, LOVE the hybrid setup, super smooth quiet and efficient. We got over a foot of snow here last night, a record. It sucks I hurt everywhere today from clearing snow. Some day I should retire and spend winters down in TN or something LOL
@@InternetDude Which state do you live in ? Maybe its the NYC cost of living 😀 even the Toyota is a bit higher . But that actually a good idea since I go directly to Lexus
I am in Canada. I have heard here that Lexus is a bit more expensive per hour than Toyota. But same parts really. Toyota is 5 mins from my house, Lexus is 45 mins. Otherwise I'd probably just go to Lexus. The Toyota dealer says they can't do any warranty work though.
Bought my wife a 2020 Corolla HB back in Dec 2019. We've had the exact same coolant experiences as you (well, aside from white smoke) and I am certain it's just the complexity of modern cooling systems, even a lowly car like a Corolla has electric water pump. I had a 2016 GTI that did the exact same thing, so I'm pretty sure these cars are OK. Currently driving a Q60, have put 53K miles on it, never needed anything fixed outside of damage from external stuff. A bit shocked at the issues so far on your LS500, but it is a very very complex machine! Watched your vids because I am thinking of getting the new Tundra that has the same engine as your car. From your opinion, if the LS500 engine is in a 5500 pound full size truck, do you think it'll feel powerful enough? Or would you be skeptical of this engine in something so big and heavy?
I put 3700 miles on my 2021 GTI so far and coolant level has changed slightly. I really want to say that all the cooling hoses expand from all the heat cycles and lower the level in the tank.
Thanks for the info. The only complaint from me in terms of the engine is the throttle lag / turbo lag. I think it will not be such an issue in the new Tundra. No worries about the power even in a full-size truck, it has LOADS. I had a 2011 F-150 with a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine (basically the same), it had loads of power too, no worries.
I’m looking for a 2018 LS500. Not having Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone might be a deal breaker. All the descriptions say the 2018 has Bluetooth so I’m wondering why your 2021 doesn’t. Can you explain more as to why you needed an adapter?
Hi, the car does have bluetooth from the factory, no worries there. You can plug in a charging cable to the USB port to run Apple CarPlay as well. The wireless adapter that I have is to enable wireless CarPlay, it is an aftermarket accessory I use for convenience of not having to plug in. I hope that helps clarify things! Let me know if you have additional questions.
I have 2018 LS 500 without apple car play? Is yours 2018 or 2019? Read on the Lexus website that apple car play is only available in 2019 Lexus and up?
@@InternetDude I really would like to buy the aftermarket accessory but when you start to drive the car the apple car play screen will still be on or it will switch off for driver protection and you will not be able to see it on the car screen
@@InternetDude for example the navigation on my ls500 is not up to date. So I use an app on my i phone called Waze to navigate. Nice! I have traded my LS500 in for a 2022 Lexus ES300h Ultra Luxury. The only thing I really miss is the massaging seat but I do get a lot better MPG.
This was a very slightly used car and the opportunity to buy it came up so I jumped on it. If I was buying new and had an endless budget for sure hybrid!! I am considering an ES hybrid because it's half the price. The depreciation on the LS is very steep and I don't keep cars too long LOL.
@@philipclock Hi Philip, I have ordered a '22 ES300h Ultra Luxury. I still have about 3 months more wait for it though! The only thing I am going to miss honestly I think will be the massaging seat.
Hi, the car has active noise cancellation technology but there still is some wind noise at that speed. It is quieter than the Tesla Model S I had before this car though.
@@InternetDude Yeah, my thoughts as well but the 460 seemed to be quieter and ride better which was odd. Looked it up online and that seems to be the consensus. I also went from EV back to gas, btw.
The LS500 is the biggest LS flop to date, they made it too sporty, that's not what the LS was known for. Now that's it's been a few years I am considering buying a BEV again but I will take my hybrid for winter road trips and keep the BEV for city driving and summer road trips. My driving needs have changed since my kids are now adult age, we don't have to go to so many small rural towns in winter for kids activities anymore.
My mom has a 2021 Lexus LS500 F-Sport which she picked up in November and since then everyone so often the car jerks from a start and we have no idea what the problem is, sometimes it’s worse than others. i should add it does happen both warm and cold, have u experienced this?
Yeah Lexus changed the LS "too much" from what it traditionally was. I think journalists reviewed the LS460, called it boring and then Lexus re-invented it as the LS500 and missed the mark for owners (people who actually buy the car) but made journalists happy...
Stick with your Lexus my friend because Mercedes, BMW and Audi, Jaguar don't have the reliablety built quality of the Lexus this is a fact, you would be foolish to look elsewhere unless you are going to buy a Rolls Royce.
Yes great plan. I just traded the LS for a new ES hybrid. Lexus builds top notch cars. I have owned a Jaguar XJR I was afraid it would break and be expensive to fix. Then I had two Teslas and they broke all the time.
Driver assistance on the highway is wonderful, it makes long drives much easier mentally because you don't have to be 100% alert every single millisecond.
The future will be a mix of technologies, even though it looks today like the future is battery electric there will need to be various technologies for different uses depending on distances traveled in a day, recharge time, et. (e.g. semi trucks, personal cars, buses, etc.). I'd really like to see PHEV versions of all Lexus vehicles ASAP.

Hey, what do you think about the comfort of the suspension and the noise insulation in comparison to the newer ls500? Not including the engine noise.
Bring back the fing v8

This dashboard and screen look so much better than the facelifted version with the screen popping out of the dash..
I agree, to make matters worse the bezel around the new touchscreen is too big.
YES! Someone finally said it.. its not just Lexus it seems everyone is doing it and its butt ass ugly..,
I have a 2021 LS 500 a few hundred miles on it. Love this car
Great to hear
Have the 2020 LS500 F Sport in atomic silver, 2 wheel drive. So quick, so smooth, and so competent and tight in the twisties!!! Longer wheel base, but much faster and much better handling than my ‘08 LS 460, which I dearly loved btw. Lexus has evolved and I’m grateful!
Thanks for sharing!

"De gustibus non disputandum est."
this car is just so elegantly agressive ,i cant really discribe it.You had a few issues wich is to be expected in such complex car but i believe you just got unlucky with this car , anyways glad to hear that the so famous Lexus customer service was there for you
Thanks, Sergio. I still do not regret buying this car at all.
I own LS 500h, 2018. I’ve made 3000km so far. Too early to say something, but I like it.
I wish I had bought the hybrid version
I had es350 since 2014 it was fantastic never had problems. Now I’m interested ls500. I had bmw n Audi they give lots hard time. Lexus IS the best.
Eh…. I traded my LS500 in on a new ES hybrid…
I like and want a BMW and Mercedes but the potential repairs stop me, too many stores.

Right on 👍
Thanks for the to the point review. I am currently driving a 2015 GS AWD that I like very much . But the LS has always been a dream car.

Great perspective from an owner! I like it.
Thanks 😀
I m getting the last body style 2017... bulletproof..
Excellent choice!
27.5 mpg combined average
Yeah these are not big issues and I can get them fixed easily. The NX 450+ could be an option... I prefer cars though.
It's amazing no matter the significant issues a Lexus model may have. Lexus lovers in the comments; will marginalize such issues as no biggie. I'm like....really?
A dream car. I’d love the 22 hybrid with self driving.
YES 👍
Stay tuned to my channel as I plan on doing a video on everything I like & dislike about my LS500 in March.
My 2013 Lexus LS600hl has 130.000 miles and zero problems.
You own the best LS ever made!
@@InternetDude The car suffer from rattling at winter when the interior is cold. Outside from that, not much to complain about
You don't buy a LS 500 for fuel economy. It's a luxury car. If you can't afford the fuel, then you can't afford the car.
Nice!
I bought a Lexus LS 430 new, 2004. It remains a great car. I would like to replace it with a new LS, but the new cars do not feel as quiet and solid as the LS 430. However, the modern electronics are amazing and the primary reason I want to upgrade.
Definitely test drive an LS500 but be aware it’s nothing like your at, the 430 to a lot of people is peak LS.
I am nowhere near being able to afford one of these but they have always fascinated me
😁👍
I have a super clean 2001 S500 sedan (2nd owner) with very low miles; it's lovely and does about 25 mpg on the freeway but around town it's not great. I've thought about the LS500 as a replacement in a few years (although as an empty-nester I may go with the LC500 instead). These cars seem to be far less costly to operate than their MB counterparts. $99 for the "small" service? Unbelievable!
I have heard that Mercedes maintenance is very costly. Lovely cars but when under warranty LOL
I would love to purchase this car if I can afford it !
You can't go wrong with a Lexus LS ;-) Thanks for watching.
@marks90004 you can’t take it $ with you…
Just started considering buying one; I'm looking into repair costs and frequency. I figured the money for a new Crown Platinum I could get a used LS500.
Wow that’s a lot of issues surprisingly. My 2018 lc500 also had some weird glitches with the infotainment. Dealership was super helpful though
Thanks for the info! LC nice! 👍
VW/Audi turbo engines do the exact same thing. Mercedes engines too. Coolant likes to disappear without a trace of a leak, and no signs of a blown head gasket.
Thanks, good to know. In my case the coolant doesn’t disappear anymore.
You mean water pump. Could always do a pressure test
@@sonypd9842 No. Coolant level getting lower very slowly over time, and there are no leaks whatsoever. You can do a coolant pressure test and it will pass.
@@Dcc357 hopefully it remains that way. I used to own a VW that went through a thermostat housing, water pump and leaking coolant pipes
First year cars typically have a lot of issues, at least there’s warranty to fix it
Questions;
About the massage seats, Do u use it often? how many times per week & how does the air bladders work? does it squeeze both side with vibration motors or just air bladders?
Going to buy one
Right on 👍
on Rav4 PRIME: it's not like you "burn a little gas" on the highway, and scoot on electricity in town.
I have the weird coolant level thing in my GS 350 too. Doesn't seem to be any problem though
Ah OK, good to know.
I hate the delay from the start. Like 1 second after hitting the gas to it starting to move.

Right on
hybrid model is even more complex...
The hybrid has a 4 speed transmission. The older V8 is definitely smoother and will have less issues in the long run.
Hi, I have hybrid version of ls500. It is more efficient however, I did not like the lagging. I will never buy a hybrid. may be this is because I am younger (33 yo as of 2021) and like more fast.Your car looks so elegant btw.
The lag is because the LS is tuned poorly. The lag doesn’t exist in other Lexus Toyota hybrids. I drove the ES hybrid and it was much, much better.
20mpg with twin turbo is fuel efficient. I had 1 turbo tuned sti and was getting 18 to 19mpg.
Yup depreciation kills all expensive luxury sedans, the s class is the worst case, they drop like a wrecking ball off the Empire State Building
Would love to own one.
They are a fantastic car!

I had a Tesla Model S and got tired of the endless repairs. I went to Lexus because of their reliability reputation.
I think he meant MB S Class
Any news about the next gen LS When it’s going to be launched ?
Hi, 2021 was a minor update for the model, so I would say any further changes would be no sooner than 2024.
@@InternetDude Good to know. Everyone's anxious about that engine being in a big truck, can't wait to take it for a test drive!
@@meshalalshaikh3592 you can choose to have CarPlay on the screen at all times or not. It is designed to be used in cars so it’s not distracting

Could you please comment on the road noise while driving on 120 km/h does it block the noise?
Hi, the car has active noise cancellation technology but there still is some wind noise at that speed. It is quieter than the Tesla Model S I had before this car though.
@@InternetDude well lexus doesn’t block the noise completely for safety reasons. Thanks btw
Bro 10k is awesome per year I do 30 -40 k per year on mine 😬
😁👍
Exactly. I do at least 15,000 a year on my GS.
Did you consider the LS460? It seems to be a more luxurious ride from my experience.
No, I really liked the looks and style of the new LS500.
I’m not sure exactly what is happening. I had some hesitation off the line but I wouldn’t call it jerkiness.
@@InternetDude sometimes i would call it hesitation but other times the hesitation gets so bad that the car starts jerking to get up to speed.
Is it at full throttle or driving gentle? Does it change in sport mode or eco mode?
@@InternetDude once your foot is really in it, it goes away. adding onto that the car never leaves comfort mode
@@InternetDude she doesn’t really drive it too hard so it happens with low throttle input
It's not a car it's a robo chiropractor on wheels I wonder which costs more the actual chiropractor or the robot version?
It’s nice but literally less rear space than an ES350 and the ride isn’t much better
True. I have a new ES300h on order to replace my LS…
I didn't know that Rick Steves did auto reviews.
Never heard of him
Was the Lexus LS 500 your daily driving car, or was it the Toyota Yaris that you had?
My daily, the Yaris is for my kid.
@@InternetDude oh ok.
I want one but can't find anyone that would buy it for me
Heh heh I couldn't find anyone to pay for mine either ;-)
glad i own a LS430 and none of these covid / post covid expensive messes. No thanks!
LS430 is absolute perfection
Houston?
Calgary
As I’ve always said, you break it you buy it. You’ve already boughted it so it doesn’t apply in this case
I didn’t break it LOL thanks for watching it’s still an amazing car
If you bought this level car, you don’t have to worry about gas consumption.
I don't really like buying gas, I had EVs before this.
Honestly....No....I'd go back down to LS460....depends on the horse power
Then I had two Teslas and they broke all the time.
why would you want to put your phone in your pocket when you drive ? That is so uncomfortable.
Not to me it’s always in my pocket during the day
You still own the 69 Swinger?
Cheers
God bless you all
No
Too much turbo lag for city driving.
Absolutely!! I don't want to own a turbo car ever again. I now have a Lexus ES hybrid and it's soooo much better around town it's not even funny.
This is the worst Lexus in history with regards to reliability as consumer reports survey clearly shows. Lexus screwed up this gorgeous car massively.
It is true Consumer Reports does not recommend the car.
@@InternetDudewho is behind that consumer report ? Germans ?
You must have plenty of easy money..buddy
I've owned two businesses for 10 and 20 years so lots of hard work to get here.
You sound like a hybrid kind of guy
I’m not sure what that means exactly but yes.
If you need a driver assistance, you should be driving! Gas is better, let’s wait on a silly changer!!🤯.
Driver assistance on the highway is wonderful, it makes long drives much easier mentally because you don't have to be 100% alert every single millisecond.
@@InternetDude that’s the whole point of driving is be alert!🤷♂️.
This is why this thing is a big piece of krap.....
Not as bad as the Tesla I traded in for it 😉
This oughta be Lexus's new slogan: Lexus.... for the upper old fart customers.
😂
If u want to sell it tok to me!?
I already sold it, sorry.
@@InternetDude y?!
@@fadelal9093 I bought a new 2022 ES hybrid and traded the LS500 in.
Lexus needs to go fully electric. Battery electric only. No hybrids. No hydrogen. Utterly pointless and not solution oriented.
