I never thought about the Lexus LS as a car to own, and I just agreed to watch the review. No other car company gets me on reliability, quality and dependability than Toyota and Lexus...they are not perfect but they have proven their worth time and time again...but om a pickup truck kinda guy...good job sir
I just hit 281,000 miles on my 2004 LS 430. V8 still smooth as butter. Transmission still shifts smooth. Uses no oil. Everything still works. At 75-80mph I still get 27 mph on premium fuel. Love the old school LS. The 500 should have got a v8.
Buy it before someone else does. Negotiate the price of the timing belt of the original cost of the vehicle. The LS430 is one of the highest demanded used car on the market today.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 I think you’re right. In 2021 I took my 04 LS to the dealer for an alignment. They gave me a 2022 ES as a loaner. Man that was a disappointment. My 17 year old LS rode better than that new ES with under 20k on the clock.
@@texaslegend5076 and that's the really sad part. You can make an extremely smooth and plush car without all the expensive technology that inevitably breaks. Sadly Lexus now thinks the LS has to be an extremely expensive car to fix.
The Mercedes depreciates like a lead ball falling , and after warranty expiration , would be a nightmare to keep , for me there's a no brainer , Lexus all the way.
I had only MB's for 20 yrs. (my company provided them...all new and all made in Germany). Based on my experience and a lot of on-line info. since then, I can say that you're absolutely right.
Mercedes does depreciate like a rock...just like every other luxury brand. A (any) car is a depreciating asset, not an investment. If you can't afford the depreciation, you can't afford a Mercedes (or any luxury car). That is to say, if you can afford a Mercedes, you can afford the depreciation. The only Lexus I ever considered to be a true competitor to Mercedes was the LS600hL. Unfortunately, we didn't have a dealership in Central NY so it was not an option for me at the time it was available. Since then, Lexus went downhill (competitively). I did get an RX350L a couple years ago. While it was OK, I didn't find it particularly noteworthy.
@@samshare2146 I can afford to drive anything on the planet. I don't own any German brand because they depreciate very rapidly for good reasons. Most of those are related to their high frequency of repair rates. Frequent failures are very annoying and time-consuming. Why? Poor engineering, deficient quality control, weak components, etc. They malfunction for valid reasons. Life's too short for that nonsense.
I have the 2001 LS-430 of course a V8 the first one in my dealership...did not even test drive it. Just ordered it without even seeing it on the ground and touching it. I have now 158K miles, same service technician, same dealership, still looks like in the first day! I still have the same grin on my face any time I choose to drive this car. Amazing quality, look, luxury, power...all is still PERFECT! Will never sell it...!!! Mercedes S Klasse = car for people not very smart that mainly want to impress. Soon will realize it is a money pit and within 12-14 months will dispose of it! BMW 7 Series = car for very obnoxious individuals that drive idiotic, and believe there are no laws on the street that they have to obey. They all have very poor character and vane personality. This too is disposed off very soon after the purchase. Lexus - LS = car for rich people that are smart too and want not only luxury, power, elegance, prestige - but also QUALITY, RELIABILITY, DEPENDABILITY and DECENT PRICE! And believe me: In Europe I owned Mercedes and BMW and Audi and know what I say. Since in US...many years...I stuck to Lexus. The only European pony in my stable: Porsche!
I do and it may be one of the best ever produced by any brand. I have owned an S-Class Mercedes, an Audi V8, and many BMWs; my good old 430 -- which for heaven's sake is 18 years old now -- bests them all. The ride, the precise but elegant road manners, the distant but firm sound of a naturally aspirated V8, and the bombproof reliability ... I just don't see how the LS430 can be beat.
Thank you for a great review. I drive a 2011 LS 460L-AWD. There is no “bad” LS! (Except for one that is/was poorly maintained.) When faced with the choice between a 430 and 460 I chose the 460 because of the timing belt versus timing chain difference. Each generation of LSs are great motor cars; each has its own “personality”!
Best luxury vehicle I've ever gotten. I've recently picked up a 2020 Lexus LS500, and it is the softest and nicest vehicle to take out on road trips or even a trip to the grocery store. I've gotten so many compliments on it as well.
@@DeathhAngel1 i cannot agree, it's a better car in everyway then the last model except maybe V8 growl. But the twin turbo v6 is honestly a better engine in general.
@@DeathhAngel1 Why? V8 is less thermal efficient, and kinda slow compared to the competition. The new engine has more horsepower with better gas mileage. It's got back seat massagers / recliners and media touch screen controllers, which I use out in the mountains when I sleep in the back. The LS460 is inferior in pretty much everyway.
AMD, your reviews are my favorite videos that you produce. Your take is much different from all of the car reviewers on UA-cam. PLEASE do this for all Toyota/Lexus products. Looking forward for your reviews of the Toyota Venza, Toyota Corolla Cross as well as the new upcoming Lexus NX. Keep up the exemplary work. Happy holidays to you and yours!
Earlier today, I went to look at an ES300h. Sadly, due to my height, I did not fit. However, I was shown an LS500 that fit like a glove! What a nice car. When the chip/auto shortage eases a bit, I might see if I can order one. I'm waiting to see how the 2022 LS500h reviews, so I've got a few months to think about things...
That was rude. Yes the 500 is larger. I had a 300 it was comfortable but I would call it a mid size, a term that turns me off. I was in a ruff accident with it and it held up beautifully💫
I purchased my '98 LS400 22 yrs., ago on the advice of a great M-B master tech. It's still my daily driver! Out of curiosity, I did look at the LS500 and, for the shortcomings you mentioned as well as a few others, I walked away from the showroom and back to my LS400. My company provided me with new M-B's for 20 yrs. I will NEVER return to any German auto product again.
AMD, your reviews, especially the end segment on reliability means a lot more to me than all the other "journalists", car reviewers cum race car drivers, consumer magazines and garden variety trolls on forums put together! Thanks!👍👍
Definitely agree with you. I keep hearing people say the reliability of the LS500 is not going to be the same because it has a twin turbo v6 instead of the v8.
I was looking for 2018 LS500 and I hate the climate control via touchscreen. I prefer the knobs plus I wasn't a fan of V6 in a flagship. I got myself a low miles LS460 loaded. 😆
I have had a 1998 LS 400, (my favorite), 2004 GS 300, and my current car a 2006 LS 430. My wife currently drives a 2015 GS 350. I am holding back on the LS 500 for two reasons: when I set in the LS 500 I feel cramped. Not what I want in a car. It is smaller inside than my 430. The second deal breaker is no full sized spare tire. I do a lot of long distance driving and I am unwilling to risk being without a full sized spare driving, for example, I-70 from Richfield, Utah to Grand Junction, Colorado or I-10 San Antonio to El Paso Texas at night. Aside from the fact that Lexus no longer provide updates for the GPS maps I consider my LS 430 superior to the 500.
I have to agree on the roominess of the LS430 compared to the 500. I feel boxed in when sitting in the 500. Aside from saving tens of thousands, the ride of the LS430 (and now simplicity compared to modern day LS models) cannot be beat. Love my '04 430!
A '98 LS400 has been my daily driver for 22 yrs. It's a favorite of mine, too. Years ago a friend brought over his new Bentley Continental, a beautiful car. But the LS was clearly superior in ergonomics, suspension, steering, braking and a few other things. It was obvious that there were factory defects that the dealer had ignored. After a year or so, the new owner gave up trying to keep the thing on the road and sold it to the first potential buyer who came to see it. What did he buy after that? It was an LS.
Apparently I am one of only a few people that care about this, but mandatory run flat tires and no spare is a deal breaker for me. Perhaps RF's are better than they used to be.
Agree fully. My 430 has a full-sized spare on a normal alloy road wheel, same as the others; that's the only way I want to be on road trips. (I had a 2013 BMW that I bought used, and I got a flat tire late one night ... I guess I had failed to realize there was no spare, and whoever had installed new tires did not put run-flats on. So I had to get a heinously expensive flatbed tow just for that. Never again!!!) Don't overthink it, Lexus guys ... the 400 & 430 were the right way to go, and y'all kinda lost it.
‘20 LS 500 F Sport. To your point, I wasn’t a fan initially either of run-flats, though love the firmer ride and handling. Get the wheel and tire package/warranty. Very well worth it, Ive had 3 flats to no avail. This car has everything my ‘08 LS 460 (RIP) didn’t have. 😊
Hi there. I’m the guy with the 2021 LS. I bought a ux hybrid for my spouse. It’s very nice but hybrid has a better ride must be a different suspension with the batteries weight
Well done sir. I enjoyed the final part, your real world experience about the car's reliability. I also heard stories full of skepticism, but was thinking a Lexus is still a Lexus.
I sold lexus for a living in Vancouver for many years. My all time favorite LS, the LS 460 short wheel base, rear wheel drive only, with the 8 speed transmission. Every generation LS was inch for inch and dollar for dollar, the best luxury sedan available and like it should be, it had a V8. Fast forward to the car just seen in the clip, please upper-crust of Toyota, take note, the thing is a flop, think about it. The countries where you would like to make inroads, the people that live there do NOT fit in the car. It is for such a large car, ridiculously small inside. A 2010 Corolla has more headroom. The build quality of the car is as usual, incredible. I don't like the gay-baroque interior ,but the quality is there. Some of the parts used, out of the Toyota parts bin, mmm ,not great but that keeps it less expensive than the Euro competition . Very well done review, thanks.
How do you like the seats and run flat tires. Looking to upgrade from my 05 UL LS430 and read some reviews that the seats are no longer as comfortable as before... aka coach on the road ;)
@@lolzsridz i like the seats very much, the leather are soft plus heated and ventilated, also have the massage option. Very comfortable. I drove a 500+ km straight and I didn’t even feel any discomfort. Really enjoyed driving it.
Just watched this video. I recently gave up my 2016 Mercedes S550 for 2019 Lexus LS50. Mercedes is so much nicer inside but the reliability I have now is worth it. If Mercedes would just learn from Toyota and build quality along with the elegance. LS500 so far is proving to be as much a luxury brand as Mercedees and Audi. Great video.
I bought a super clean, loaded StarFire White 08 LS460 L out of Chicago last year with 69,000 miles for $13,000. spent all its winters in Florida. As nice as the new generation is…it isn’t $100,000 better than my car. Like he says…most of the gizmos don’t get used anyway
Everything you say about the quality and detail is true. I have a 2011 Jag XJ and I can't get rid of it because Jag no longer makes a replacement and the only V8 cars that have equivalent quality are $125K or more. I like sedans; SUVs don't work for me. Once you sit on high end leather, the cheap stuff in lesser cars won't do. I like everything about the LS except that V6. I can't give up my V8 for a V6. Toyota puts the V8 in the LC, RC, and now even the IS but not in the LS???? Grrrrr. That is the only thing preventing me from buying the LS.
@@wongchai807 Totally agree. Every car I've owned prior to the LS500 had a V8 so i was super skeptical as well. However, not wanting to throw any more money at a European luxury sedan is what drove me to take a closer look at LS500 and Im so glad i did. The TTV6 really shocked me - more than it probably should have considering both HP and torque are higher than any of the previous LSs with V8s. Yes, HP in the LC500 is about 30 points higher but LS has more torque and you can feel the difference.
Love the LS 430 ! Buying a good well taken care of used one is the way to go ! I have a 2002 ES300 w 167k miles and it’s simply amazing. Best build quality. Fit and finish is unparalleled. Over the summer I installed 4 new struts after the rear ones were leaking. Amazing rides like new !
I bought a 2004 Lexus LS 430 one year ago, it had 84,000 Miles on it and plan to drive it until it it falls apart. I can tell you it’s the best vehicle I ever drove. It’s in perfect condition, the drive is so smooth and quiet, love the wood in it and everything on it works. Those years were the best Lexus cars and trucks were made.

I love my a LS500 ,my son goes crazy for the massaging seats . The infotainment system takes some getting use too , but outside of that there’s not much to complain about .
The exterior looks of this Lexus is gorgeous.... While the S class is "just" nice ( though there are many that think S class looks rather boring ) The interior is classic and very elegant... And classic will never go out of fashion.... While the interior of S class sure looks more extravagant.... While its actually fashionable all screen will look old and out of fashion a few years later... And the completely lack of physical buttons on the dashboard and steering wheel, although fancy in style, is continuousely frustrating for every day use.... Not to talk about reliability, while the S class' extravagant gizmos are prone to failure and expensive repairs.... While the LS uses bulletproof tech already in use and well tested on millions existing vehicles ... I would buy this LS 10 times over the S class....
I think you analyzed it very well. CR dinged it not just for the lower reliability, but also the lower stance which impedes access, and the less plush ride than previous generations. Personally, I prefer the 1st gen LS400. 😊🆗🆒🏆
Ahmed. Very well done review of the LS. I always loved the LS. It’s one I’d consider if I had the means, you know it will last. I still see the old LS400 on the road.
My dad has this new LS500, I can confirm that this car is SUPER COMFORTABLE and Interior Detail is absolutely no question. Infotainment might be outdated, but it works flawlessly. This isn't a car to Flex people or to pick up Hipster. This is the car for a retired successful man who value time and money.
I just bought a 2014 ls460 with 160k miles. Very well taken care of always serviced at lexus i have all the maintenance records. Absolutely a great car to drive im blown away. Sadly i am now going to sell my 2004 ls430 with 325k miles. Still looks and drives great. Dont want to sell it but i dont need 3 cars.
What a gorgeous LUXURY vehicle. If I was at an economic status where I could afford one, it would be my choice over a Rolls Royce. Yes I am serious. Understated elegance! I think controls, gauges, etc., are simple is because this vehicle caters to an "older" generation that likes ease of use and simplicity like I do. If there is a better and more beautiful sedan in the world, I don't know where it would be?
Unlike a RR Phantom you can actually park the LS. You don't have to worry about some eco warrior/financial incel/vandal taking their rage out on your care. You are not marked by criminals [in these parts they will put a tracker on your car and then go to your home to take your car... and I assume with an RR probably break in your home. You also don't feel like a mook paying 10 times plus for basic servicing. Also you get lexus reliability not RR biodegradability. Except for me, the ES 350. Similar or in some peoples opinion better ride quality and 10 inches less length.
For most of my life I have wanted to own the ultimate luxury car - the Lexus LS. But more recent information on pricing and maintenance has convinced me the ES350 is actually a far better value. That is what I am looking to buy
Look at the GS350 or GSF they are much more a driver's car then the ES350. More like the LS. Due to newer technology between the old school LS400 and the LS500.
@@kennynguyen2105 perhaps the dumbest statement ever. There is nothing cheap about an ES. Millions of owners and industry experts agree it's a great value. Nobody is listening to you.

I wish this current gen LS didn't look so similar to the current ES model and that it came with the signature Lexus V8. The LC500 is the true flagship Lexus imo.
LS is but one of 3 flagships in the Lexus line-up. There's the LS, LC, and LX (sedan, coupe, suv). That said, i ageee that the LC has slightly superior engineering than the LS but i wouldn't attribute that to the engine alone because that old 5.0 V8 in the LC is rather basic and long in the tooth compared to the bi-turbo V6 in thr LS. Has less torque, too.
It is still good but its engine (V-8) been replaced with the V-6 twin turbo and no longer as cheap as the 400.The 400 was less than half than the Mercedes S-Class ($35 000 compared to $73 000).
@@tonyglass1740 ,CR only asked consumers if they had problems with their cars for the first 3 years. They are nothing but desk jockeys analyzing numbers. They do get it right generally speaking but they never inform if a certain model faced a class action lawsuit (Nissan's transmissions for example).

Good afternoon AMD. I apologize, that this comment is not about this video, but I read that good way to ask you a question is to write it under any of your videos as a comment. So I would like to ask you about front parking sensors. We bought new Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid and after few weeks we decided to install front parking sensors. Installation was done by the official Toyota dealership where we bought the car. The sensors are the original Toyota accessory in the same color as our car. The distance warning is only audible (but that is not the problem). The problem is that we have full audio tone when we are maybe 15 inch from object, which is according us quite useless. We can see it by eyes. The information from the dealership is that it is not possible to change the sensitivity of the system. Is it true? Or there is some way how to change the distance when we will get the full audio tone (like maybe 4 or 5 inch far from car). Thank you in advance and thank you also for your great videos about cars, which taught me a lot. :-)
Hi! While we don’t have dealer installed parking sensors that are official, but the original ones you cannot adjust the sensitivity. But if the calibration is off they’ll read wrong I would if the dealership can check the calibration?
Amd , I like your approach to reviewing autos. Keeping things simple and your objectivity of pros and cons. Wish the auto specs, model and cost was upon the screen somewhere. I do not recall a review of the RX350 or RX350L, but looking forward to one in the future of a 2022 model. Thanks for an interesting video.
The latest consumer reports has the reliability back to much better than average. Perhaps there were many teething problems that owners reported that Lexus has since addressed. One thing I noticed in the forums is that spark plus dont last as long as the previous LS
Hey car care…I luv the design because it puts Lexus in a class by themselves & this is how it should be…am not worried too much about the competition I have a master piece here already 😁
To be honest, I used to believed all those consumer reports from a so called “well-respected, expert car journalists” thinking they are the ones to be trusted and have car manufacturers to follow their desires until I almost owned an early 2000 BMW 3 series that were very favorable to those people but found out later they were plagued with transmission problems like no reverse (most common), slipping gears, etc. I ended up getting a Tacoma quad-cab, instead.
Hi, great review. I have been a Lexus fan since buy my old 1999 gs400... bullet proof. I watched your video of the worst Lexus to own...the Ls460 (due to repair costs). I own a modified 460L and have been bless due to its reliability. I have the executive seating package with out the air suspension. Being an enthusisist... I changed out the suspension myself using coilovers. I heard the LS460 was plagued with front control arm issues (8), Brake actuators /abs issues, and the pesky air suspension nightmare. I have been blessed not not experience a lot of these problems and have changed out many suspension parts myself saving me some money. My car has 124k, and bought it used at 92k 6 years ago. I love this car... I'm now looking to buy another big sedan, but heard all the negative reviews on the 2018 LS500 models. I'm unsure if the negative complaints were just in the 18 year or others. Many say the turbo lag "pause before go" issue was down right unsafe. Others say the runflats were a nightmare... but easy fix. Agreed, everyones grip is with the entotainment, and lets not talk about the lack of V8 in the 500. I believe this will make the Lexus V8 cars sort after, and collectors items in the near future, as everyone goes Eco. Question... Why would Toyota use a plastic transmission oil pans? this sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen due to the height of the car. Here in NY we have a lot of speed bumps that tend to rub the undercarriage of the car. Also heat.... Question... What's your take on the V35A-FTS (22 Tundra, Ls500 motor) Waste gate failure. Im hearing....this is a common problem with this motor. I hear the 22 Tundra owners are livid due to supply chain issues and having to wait 30 days for parts for a brand new Toyota truck. After doing more research the Ls500 reliability listing on Consumer Reports is pretty dismal. www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-5th-gen-2018-present/960349-2018-ls500-on-2nd-blown-motor.html After hearing all the grips I was on the fence with the LS, and was looking at the 2018 Genesis G90 (which I heard a lot of good things about). I was also looking out of the segment at the LX570, and the RC-F. Thanks for your information and help over the years.
Wish you were local to me so I could take my 2006 LS430 to you! IT has 168K trouble free miles (with regular maintenance) but I want to make it to 300K!
Please do a video comparing the 3.5 liter twin turbo v6 engine in the 2022 tundra vs the outgoing 5.7 liter v8. Will it be reliable and what issues can we look out for with the turbos and intercooler? I bet you have some experience with the 3.5 liter twin turbo engine since it's been available in the Lexus ls500 for some years now. Thanks.
I have a 2021 LS 500 it is everything I wanted. White interior with the Mark Levinson sound. The car is like riding on a cloud with superb sound. The car rocks
One has to be DEAF to think the Mark Levinson is good (especially as it’s presented in this car). It is HORRENDOUS and it is the worst sound system I have ever heard. Even worse than the 4-speaker base sound system in my 2015 Corolla (rollseyes). It is also the *ONLY* reason I would stay away from this otherwise great vehicle!
I love this LS 500. It has the reliability of a Lexus...almost no maintenance needed compared to its European counterparts. Its reliability MUST factor in to owning this compared to its more unreliable European cars. My only wish...this needs the 2UR-GSE.
New to your channel and I enjoy watching it. Thanks for sharing experience and your thoughts. I owned a lot Japanese cars, mainly due to their reliability and cheap to maintain. I used to own 2013 535GT (very happy) and 2017 S550 (not so happy). My wife currently drives 2014 GS350. The car has been completely worry free and I do maintain the car religiously. I am thinking to get a brand new LC500 convertible, not for daily driving but mainly for a weekend car. I know I should expect higher maintenance cost, but should I also purchase extended warranty?
I named my 2021 hatchback "Baby-L" for Baby-Lexus because of all the nice Lexus-like features that have found their way into the "lowly" Corolla. Bravo Toyota on both ends of the car price spectrum. Can't wait for a hatchback with the reclining rear seat :)
Compared to the LS430 I own, the only thing nicer on this interior are the seats, they look more sport car sculpted. How about noise, vibration, and harshness compared to the LS430 and long term durability of a twin turbocharged V6 verses a DOHC naturally aspirated V8? You can change the outside of the package but what's inside is what makes it worthwhile for the long run.
I’m sorry but for reliability & longevity the V8’s LS models were the best cars ever produced by the Lexus Brand. Running for 1 million miles was very common. These newer models couldn’t make 1/2 a million miles ! Truth hurts !
I bought a 2007 Lexus LS 460 with Mark Levison upgrade, park assistance, 150K miles, Lexus dealer maintained, documented oil change every 5K miles, transmission oil changed every 40K miles, all 4 air suspension, tires and new rims, the owner spent 8K with reciept 3 months before selling it to me for 7K, the car is garage kept, loved the smoothness, excellent body condition, i drove it for 2 months before a teenager rear ended me, declared total wreck due to the severe frame damage, the experience had me buy my new Lexus ES 350 F sport, the new LS is too expensive for me.
I own a 2016 LS 460 and there is nothing about that 3.4 L V6 TwinTurbo that says come buy me. Does this new version look nicer yes it does but in my opinion it’s very overpriced and what was not talked about is all the issues that motor has been having over the years. I’m not a fan of turbos so I plan on keeping my 460 as long as I can.
I totally disagree, the is the best looking LS ever made, and the sexiest full size sedan on the road today. Interior is also still nice, the only downside is the old tech.
I personally think a flagship luxury sedan should more or less be boxy to give it the look of class. The new one with the more curved roofline reduces rear head room and more sporty. I don't want a sporty luxury car because sporty does not equal comfort. Sporty usually has a hard suspension. Luxury means a ride that is like riding on a cushion of air like you are on a magic carpet. They should make luxury cars have luxury features and material. Could care less about the most technology being associated with luxury like you see these days.
Been waiting on this video AMD! As the owner of a 98 LS, and 02 and 04 LS I've always been curious as to where you stood on these cars and what you think about the newer ones. Thanks brother! Happy holidays!
The '22 NX ditches the touchpad entirely in favor of the touchscreen, and the infotainment system has been completely revised to bring it up to modern standards. Akio Toyoda faced opposition when he wanted to throw out the old infotainment, proving that sometimes Lexus is its own worst enemy. This also kind of explains a lot of what has been happening with Lexus products stagnating and clinging onto the past, it was due to ultra conservative factions within the company that don't want to change. Thankfully Akio has solidified his hold over Toyota/Lexus and is implementing these major changes across the whole lineup The next gen LS will almost certainly follow the same route.
Lexus should have offered a 5.0L V8 as optional.

I just hit 281,000 miles on my 2004 LS 430. V8 still smooth as butter. Transmission still shifts smooth. Uses no oil. Everything still works. At 75-80mph I still get 27 mph on premium fuel. Love the old school LS. The 500 should have got a v8.
How often have you had to change timing belt just grab a 01 with 152000 miles with no record of timing belt I'm scared to drive it
Buy it before someone else does. Negotiate the price of the timing belt of the original cost of the vehicle. The LS430 is one of the highest demanded used car on the market today.
Frankly I think the current LS is irredeemable. Today less is more. Toyota should return to what made them so great.
I agree, somewhat else can by the krout car. After 6 Lexus s I’ll stay with them. Beautiful exterior and interior
In this luxury category every car depreciates like rock.
Thumbs up if you own LS430 and you also believe that’s the best LS ever produced by Lexus.
I do! Love it.
I have a SC430 which is same engine/powertrain, but in a convertible. Both vehicles are legendary.

(Except for one that is/was

When faced with the choice between a 430 and 460 I chose the 460 because of the timing belt versus timing chain difference. Each generation of LSs are great motor cars; each has its own “personality”!
What a great interior. Definitely a fantastic luxury car. Great design without being over complicated like some competitors.
This car always turns my head every time I see it. It's rare, and it's gorgeous.
Best luxury vehicle I've ever gotten. I've recently picked up a 2020 Lexus LS500, and it is the softest and nicest vehicle to take out on road trips or even a trip to the grocery store. I've gotten so many compliments on it as well.

I own an 06 ls430 and agree 💯
A '98 LS400 has been my daily driver for 22 yrs. It's a favorite of mine, too. Years ago a friend brought over his new Bentley Continental, a beautiful car. But the LS was clearly superior in ergonomics, suspension, steering, braking and a few other things. It was obvious that there were factory defects that the dealer had ignored.
After a year or so, the new owner gave up trying to keep the thing on the road and sold it to the first potential buyer who came to see it. What did he buy after that? It was an LS.
Stay on top of your tires condition and you won't be taken by surprise. This thing glides, it's the best LS.
Love the "Cisco" exit.. A beautiful drive to Moab
Apparently I am one of only a few people that care about this, but mandatory run flat tires and no spare is a deal breaker for me. Perhaps RF's are better than they used to be.
Had them on a older toyota van... not a good move.
RFs arent mandatory. Just make sure you have a decent roadside assistance plan and replace them with whatever you want.

Well done sir. I enjoyed the final part, your real world experience about the car's reliability. I also heard stories full of skepticism, but was thinking a Lexus is still a Lexus.
I sold lexus for a living in Vancouver for many years. My all time favorite LS,
the LS 460 short wheel base, rear wheel drive only, with the 8 speed transmission.
Every generation LS was inch for inch and dollar for dollar, the best luxury sedan
available and like it should be, it had a V8. Fast forward to the car just seen in the clip,
please upper-crust of Toyota, take note, the thing is a flop, think about it. The countries where you would like to make inroads, the people that live there do NOT fit in the car. It is for such a large car, ridiculously small inside. A 2010 Corolla has more headroom. The build quality of the car is as usual, incredible. I don't like the gay-baroque interior ,but the quality is there. Some of the parts used, out of the Toyota parts bin, mmm ,not great but that keeps it less expensive
than the Euro competition .
Very well done review, thanks.

The interior is classic and very elegant...

LS is but one of 3 flagships in the Lexus line-up. There's the LS, LC, and LX (sedan, coupe, suv).

The latest consumer reports has the reliability back to much better than average. Perhaps there were many teething problems that owners reported that Lexus has since addressed. One thing I noticed in the forums is that spark plus dont last as long as the previous LS
The high-compression turbo engine burns out the spark plugs faster. That's why I always prefer a naturally-aspirated engine.

After hearing all the grips I was on the fence with the LS, and was looking at the 2018 Genesis G90 (which I heard a lot of good things about).
@@747-pilot incorrect, the ML is superb
ML in my LS is by far the best sound system in any of my Lexus vehicles
Dude said a Corolla 🤣🤣
@@Rabid_Turtlereally , a Corolla LOL. 🏖️
Lexus never really excited me, but because CCN is explaining, I'm all ears!
You should have talked about maintenance cost and problems that have surfaced so far.
That is a beautiful car. It's longer than the LS460L but has less space inside than the 460L
Coming up on 200000 subscribers my friend.Keep up the good work.
Another awesome detailed review. Enjoyed it. Thanks!
2002 ls430 was the pinnacle of the LS
Sorry that would be the 2004-2006 model LS 430 Ultra. They had time to fine tune everything in those years with the 430.
I’m sorry but for reliability & longevity the V8’s LS models were the best cars ever produced by the Lexus Brand. Running for 1 million miles was very common. These newer models couldn’t make 1/2 a million miles ! Truth hurts !
I have a question. Why is it called a ls 500 but it has a 3.5 engine? Isn't it supposed to be a 5.0 engine?
Likely marketing.
I really hope the next hybrid LS gets the V35A engine with the 10-speed found in the Tundra. The current system seems dated and unnecessarily complex.
Unlike the previous gens these cars are few and far between on the road.
I own this car and I’ve had no issues. This is a Toyota product. They are reliable.
@@mob4ever Even Toyota has some bad years and some bad motors.
The 3rd gen was the best looking and peak LS, they were ultra luxurious and looked like money. After that they were just big Toyotas.
What’s wrong with that? The old ones just look old.
LS class for its self. Last good made mercedes was w124, period. Thank you AMD.
“A very expensive Sonata” brutal burn 🔥
Let’s hope that pushing “ultra conservative factions” doesn’t mean they start to cut corners…
@@AnontheGOAT
Lexus has been "cutting corners" for quite some time.
@@TheBjjones you might wanna back statement with up with facts. Otherwise it’s conjecture and doesn’t mean anything.
