    • @gun506
      @gun506 9 місяців тому +8

      I think it depends on what sort of battle you want to see and how the battle fits it's intended role. The outpost battle was also my favorite in the movie and was a badass scene that showed experienced soldiers holding their own against overwhelming numbers. The klendathu drop is the more memorable battle though because of the shock and how well it fulfilled it's role. That first battle showed the horrors of war that a rookie shoved onto the frontline's would face even in sci-fi against non-human enemies, and showed the film's satirical portrayal of a fascist government at it's finest. They didn't bother gathering intelligence because they viewed the bugs as inferior and incapable of thinking which led to them dropping tons of fresh out of bootcamp soldiers into a literal deathtrap with no support or experienced soldiers.

    So... Actually, all of these were great choices. Each battle felt climactic in it's own universe and each had a good sense of scope and scale to them. And in some of them, I even noticed things I missed when I saw the movies themselves, like how in the Battle of Geonosis, I never quite... clicked on how the Seperatists Hailfire droids were tearing apart the AT-TE walkers with there long range missiles and really had to be specifically targetted by passing Gunships to be taken out. Little details like that add a very nice added layer of strategy and the grand tug-of-war of... well, War.

      that is my favourite one. Love a battle where the protagonist army is backed against the walls, trying to hold against an insurmountable and oppressive tide of enemy army, where heroic sacrifice of individual soldiers shine, where the only thing making your battered body stand and face the enemy is because there is someone behind you, relying upon you. Brings tears to the eyes.

    Chronicles of Riddick is one of the best SF movies ever (in my view) and I have seen nearly all of them. The Necromongers are superb villains. There could be an entire TV show based on them. They are a bit like the BORG, the Nazis, and a bizarre death cult combined. They have internal politics and rivalries. Then there are the Elementals and the Furyans. An entire universe of fascinating beings. I can't wait for the new film Furya to come out.

      The funny thing is that the director made the whole thing stupid on purpose. Throwing soldiers with basic rifles and little to no support at endless hordes of bugs. In the books each member of Mobile Infantry was using a heavily armed power armor that would kill hundreds of bugs on its own. They wouldn't deploy individual soldiers within less than a kilometre of each other because the threat of friendly fire was too great.
