  • A 4K HDR sample from my Extended Star Wars Episode I Cut, simply titled "The Phantom Menace - Extended Edition". As of today, both cuts have now been updated to a new 2.0 version, featuring several minor tweaks in audio, updates to the HDR color timing (especially for Episode I), tweaks to transitions, and brand new A.I. upscales of many of the deleted scenes. A total of 7 deleted scenes have been restored in the film.
    Note: The trimmed down version of the duel of the fates battle is only for the youtube upload. The version scene in the film cut itself won't be intercut in this same way.
    Both of my Extended Episode I and II cuts are available in both 4K HDR and 1080p SDR, along with my other edits like the 4.5 hour Revenge of the Sith - The Siege of Mandaore Supercut the, Star Wars Episode IV - The Rogue Cut, and many more!

    More aspects of Lucas’s “used universe” that I love: the droids don’t just show up in infinite numbers. They have to be transported, arranged, and then activated. Logistics is so underrepresented in movies, and I’m not saying it’s realistic necessarily, but it’s nice to see.

    You gotta hand it to the Gungan Army, they had balls. They chose to stand and fight and took to the open field against an enemy army which possessed tanks, armored transports, and a far larger force of battle droids. And they did this with nothing but a few shields, and hand-throwable and melee weapons. The droids poured tons of blaster fire at straight-up point blank range and the Gungans held their ground and took them on in hand-to-hand fighting not even Droideka could break them. It took the Trade Federation tanks bull-rushing the Gungan Army to get them to retreat after the shield came down, and they only did so at the orders of their commanders.

      @@HylianSith920 That may be true, but another thing that bugs me is that their choice of battlefield was a pretty poor one, even if they are meant to be a diversion for the main Droid Army.
      They basically made themselves sitting ducks on an open field, against an enemy with superior numbers and firepower. That could only have ever ended in disaster, which it did the moment the shields were destroyed.
      Diversion or not, it would have made more sense to try and fight closer to the swamps or forests, so if the Droids tried to follow after them, they wouldn't have been able to bring their tanks or at the least would have had significant trouble engaging the Gungans.

      Add in a few scenes of Gungans actually dying painfully, while the droids feel no pain and no instinct for mercy. Maybe a shot of a Gungan screaming about his wife and kids back home and trying to run away, only to be shot by another Gungan soldier, who realized that letting any hint of desertion/mutiny go unpunished would destroy the morale of the entire army. This could have been crazy if it was aimed for adults and not kids. But then my generation would not have had the chance to enjoy it as kids.

    The battle of Naboo has four important parts that all go through similar atmospheres. By that I mean they all share a point where they do well at first and then things go bad and then they eventually become triumphant. For this part with the gungans they do well diverting the droid army’s attention with their shields and energy spheres. For the second part the Jedi are fighting well against Maul and mostly holding their own. For the third part Anakin destroys 3 Droidekas as he takes off and survives well for a bit in the space battle. For the fourth part the Queen and her group make good progress to Gunray. Then things start to go bad for all of them. The gungans are overwhelmed and their shield is destroyed. Maul killed Qui Gon. Anakin is seemingly about to be captured while inside the federation battleship. The queen and her group are captured. Then they triumph. The queen outsmarts the Viceroy and captures him. Anakin destroys the battleship from the inside. The droids then disable as a result of the battleship’s destruction and the gungans celebrate. Obi Wan kills Maul.
    Edit- - yes I know this comment is long but I love Star Wars

      @@HolyknightVader999 I believe the reason in lore was that because of the glaring weakness that happened on Naboo where the loss of the control ship effectively wiped out their army, the B1s were given 'independent' droid AI of a sort allowing them to act freely without need for a Droid control ship and therefore eliminating the Achilles heel that was their control system.
      That said turning them into complete buffoons and goofballs instead of having them be somewhat closer to the 'personality' of the B1s in the Phantom Menace was a complete moronic move from an entertainment point of view; but was likely done to appeal them to a younger audience as 'comic relief' of a sort.

    • @benjaminmclaren8782
      @benjaminmclaren8782 Рік тому +18

      I agree, But I do like the Lore reason behind it.
      B1 on Naboo were defeated by knocking out the Control Ship, so going forwards there would be independent droid armies. But free thinking droids need memory wipes or they start to develop quirks. The Trade Federation, being massive cheapskates, don't bother to wipe their droids after long use. They prefer cheap hordes over small tactical groups. So the foot soldier B1's became goofballs.
